Kyoko Denning
Kyoko Denning, 74, of Pine Grove, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Genesis ElderCare, Orwigsburg Center.
Born in Japan, May 18, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Fumi Nagata.
She retired in 1997 as a machine operator at the former Fessler Knitting Mills, Orwigsburg.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Nobuo and Yoshio Nagata.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Leroy Denning Sr.; two sons, Leroy Jr. of Arizona, and William C. of Hazleton; four sisters, Tomie, Shizue, Kimi, and Aiko, all of Japan; four grandchildren.
Private services were held at Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville. Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Clement O. Wolfgang
Clement O. Wolfgang, 96, formerly of RR 1, Klingerstown and Hegins, died Thursday May 15, 2003, at the Kepler Nursing Home, Elizabethville.
Born at RR 1, Klingerstown, July 8, 1906, he was a son of the late Robert H. and Bertha M. Clark Wolfgang.
He was a retired farmer ad was educated in the Klingerstown are schools.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence R. Wolfgang on August 16, 1970, Walter J. Wolfgang on October 23, 1980, and Stanley A. Wolfgang on December 3, 1991.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 19, from the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR 1, Klingerstown, with the Rev. Daniel Lepley and Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating. Interment was in Salem cemetery, RR 1, Klingerstown.

Craig R. Wetzel
Craig Roy Wetzel, 38, loving son, devoted father, of Valley View, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C., as a result of a motorcycle accident,
Born in Pottsville, December 29, 1964, he was a son of Larry L. and Sharon L. Stutzman Wetzel of Valley View. He was a 1983 graduate of Tri-Valley High School.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Frank Krammes Excavating, Sacramento, and was a partner in Wetzel Brothers Farming, Valley View.
He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View; Valley View Fire Company; Valley View Gun Club; and a social member of VFW Post 8237, Valley View.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a daughter, Arielle Wetzel of Millersburg; a brother, Alvin of Valley View; a paternal grandmother, Sidney Wetzel of Myerstown; a maternal grandmother, Sylvia Stutzman of Valley View; two aunts; two uncles.
A memorial celebration of life service was held on Sunday, May 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, with the Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.

Rita E. Wagner
Rita E. Wagner, age 71, of Harrisburg, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at home.
She was a daughter of the late Leroy and Irene Shade Shuey.
She was preceded in death by her husband William L. Wagner.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol D. Wagner of Harrisburg; a sister, Betty Bowman of Valley View; and a brother, Charles Shuey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, with the Rev. Kevin D. Hundley officiating. Interment in Calvary United Methodist cemetery, Wiconisco. Viewing will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, is handling arrangements.

Mae C. Troutman
Mae C. Troutman, 86, of Martinsburg, WV, formerly of Pillow, died Friday, May 16, 2003, in the Canterbury Center, Shepherdstown, WV.
Born August 23, 1916 in Lykens Twp., she was a daughter of the late Henry Klinger and Carrie Bowman Klinger.
She was a retired seamstress of the former Pillow Shirt Factory, Pillow. She was a member of Salem U.C.C. Church, Pillow.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen D. Troutman, who died in 1977; and a brother, Kermit Klinger.
Surviving are a daughter, Elaine C. Wiest of Martinsburg, WV; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Religious service were held Monday, May 19, at 11 a.m., from James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, with the Rev. J. Robert Snyder officiating. Interment was in Pillow Union cemetery, R.D. Herndon.
Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60601-7633. James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, was in charge of arrangements.

Arlene M. Starr
Arlene M. Starr, 93, formerly of Valley View, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at York Hospital, York.
Born January 13, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Shadle Eckler. She was a resident of the Valley View area for more than 88 years, before moving to Seven Valleys in the Dover area.
She was a former co-owner of Starr Poultry, Starr Hardware and Starr Furniture.
She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, a former member of Valley View Fire Company Auxiliary, Hegins Area Garden Club and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, former Valley View resident and businessman Samuel R., who died April 3, 2002; a son, Samuel C.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Starr Dietrich of Dover; a sister, Annabelle Hartman of Ocala, Fla.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sunday, May 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View. Interment will take place at a later date at Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville. Leroy Leber Funeral Home, Shiloh, was in charge of arrangements.

Mark S. Snyder
Mark S. Snyder, 65, of R.D. Herndon, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, in Mifflin Twp.
Born in RD Klingerstown, November 14, 1937, he was a son of the late Clayton Jacob and Tamie Caroline Shade Snyder.
He was retired from the US Air Force.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Clayton, Lee, Truman, and Thomas Snyder.
Surviving are a sister, Mary J Straub of RD Herndon; a brother, Carl D. Snyder of Wiconisco; nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, May 20, at the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating. Interment was in the Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville. James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas A. Sigel
Thomas A. Sigel, 82, of Lykens, died Monday, May 12, 2003, in Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born February 28, 1921, he was a son of Lewis Sigel and Mary Forney.
He was a graduate of Lykens High School, Electricians School of Baltimore; was an Army Veteran of World War II, with the 82nd Airborne, jumping with Gen. Jim Gavin. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, with one silver service star and two bronze stars. He was retired from the Naval Ships Parts and Control, where he received numerous citations for professional contributions. He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church, American Legion Post 124 and Past Post Commander, VFW, and Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Margaret Schmick; sons, Thomas E. and Stephen and a sister, Betty Tiazkun.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 24, at 1 p.m., in his church. Burial will be in the Lykens Catholic cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Dauphin Library. The Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Irene L. Peters
Irene L. Peters, 80, of Clarks Valley Road, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Pottsville Hospital.
She was a retired seamstress from the garment industry.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Tower City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen E., and three sons, Jeffrey L., Thomas L. and Jason E.
Surviving are a daughter, Kay L. Nolen of Tower City; five sons, Terry E. and Robert E., both of Clarks Valley, Allen L. of Pottsville, James L. of Maryland and Jan K. of Delaware; two brothers, Kenneth Romberger of Schuylkill Haven and Lamar Romberger of Levittown; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 19, at from the Greenwood cemetery, Tower City R.D., with Rev. Paul Baughman officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Tower-Porter Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 33, Tower City, 17980.
Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Alice B. Miller
Alice B. Miller, 82, of Mt. Gretna, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, as a result of an automobile accident.
Born April 12, 1921 in Lykens, the daughter of William and Kate Britton.
She was retired from Milton Hershey, having worked there for 30 years. She was a member of the Mt. Gretna United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard 'Ben'; brothers, Clarence Noble, Robert Britton, Charles Britton; sisters, Frances Hoffman and Helen Smith.
Surviving are a son, Ben Miller of Lebanon; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 1, at 4 p.m., at Mt. Gretna United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville, at the convenience of the family.
Contributions may be sent to Mt. Gretna United Methodist Church, 4th and Boehm Avenue, Mt. Gretna, 17064.
The Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, is in charge of arrangements.
