Jane Gockley, 75, was Bollman Hat Co. retiree

Jane E. Gockley, 75, of Mohnton, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at Ephrata Community Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late William and Grace (Bair) Leaman.

She worked in various textile mills for many years before retiring from Bollman Hat Company as a lead person. After her retirement, she worked for 10 years as a receptionist for Turner Buick in New Holland.

Jane enjoyed cooking, sewing, word puzzles and spending time with her family.

Surviving are three children: Paula Snader, of Ephrata; Kenneth L. Gockley, of Stevens; and Pamela S. Gockley, wife of Dean B. Hornberger of Reading; two grandchildren: Madeline Snader and Benjamin, husband of Rachel (Barrett) Snader, both of Ephrata; three great grandchildren; two half sisters: Barbara Schmuck and Patricia Leaman; and two half brothers: William Leaman and Roy Leaman.

Preceding her in death is a brother: Donald Leaman.

A memorial graveside service will be held Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Weaverland Old Order Mennonite cemetery with the Rev. Wilmer Leaman officiating.

Arrangements are being made by Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.

Ray Galebach, 80, Dorma Door employee, farmer

Ray L. Galebach, 80, of Lititz, formerly of Denver and Ephrata, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was the husband of Barbara G. (Kanode) Galebach and son of the late Lewis R. Galebach and Arlene Hacker Minnich.

Ray was born in Lincoln and was a lifelong resident of the Ephrata area. He worshipped at Stevens United Zion Church in Stevens, and formerly worked as a farmer and at Dorma Door in Reamstown.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Ray is survived by six children: Barbara M., wife of Donald King, of Lancaster; Margaret L., wife of Harold High, of Reinholds; Lewis R., husband of Robin Galebach, of Loretta; Arlene A., wife of Paul Kaylor, of Lancaster; Vivian J. Galebach, of Lititz; and Eugene A., husband of Mary Galebach, of Tyrone; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata, Oct. 15 with the Rev. John Fry and the Rev. John Leisey officiating. Place of interment was Lincoln cemetery, Lincoln-Ephrata.

Mary Jane Eitnier, formerly of Ephrata, avid baker

Mary Jane Eitnier, 89, formerly of Ephrata, entered into rest Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Pleasant View Retirement Community in Manheim, where she resided since 2006.

Born in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late David and Sallie (Weaver) Yinger.

Mary Jane attended Terre Hill High School. She enjoyed baking desserts and creating flower arrangements, but her greatest joy was being a grandmother and great grandmother. Mary Jane was dearly loved by her family and will be missed.

Mary Jane is survived by her daughter: Victoria Donahue, of King of Prussia; a granddaughter: Kelli, wife of Erik Bentsen, of Oxford, N.C.; three great-grandchildren: Carter, Lukas and her namesake, Madelyn Jane; a sister: Lois Stirk, of Terre Hill; a brother: James Yinger, of Quarryville; a sister-in-law: Helen, wife of the late Daniel Yinger, of New Holland; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by a beloved son: Terry Lee in 1959; five brothers; and three sisters.

There will be no viewing. A funeral service was held Oct. 17 at the Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata. Private interment took place in the Lincoln cemetery.

Akseniya Dariychuk, Ephrata

Akseniya Dariychuk, 72, of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in the Ukraine to the late Gregoriy and Vasilina Drobot and was the wife of Nikolay Dariychuk, with whom she shared 26 years of marriage.

Funeral services were held Oct. 13 at the Bethany Slavic Church, Ephrata. Interment took place in the Mt. Zion Evangelical cemetery.

Willard Zimmerman, 66, Coc. Biologicals employee

Willard "Will" R. Zimmerman, 66, of Reinholds, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading.

He was born in Pottsville and was the husband of Linda M. (Kramer) Zimmerman, who were married 26 years in July.

Will enjoyed mirco sprint racing and went to the Clyde Martin Raceway on a regular basis. Cooking, woodcutting and fishing were things he also enjoyed. Will worked most recently in the maintenance department for of Cocalico Biologicals and previously worked as a delivery person for the 222 Drive-In Restaurant.

In addition to his wife, Will is survived by his sons: Joshua R. Zimmerman, at home; and Jeffrey A. Zimmerman, of Lititz.

Funeral services were held Oct. 17 at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Denver, with Pastor Ed Vidzicki officiating. An interment service took place Oct. 18 in the Swamp cemetery, Reinholds.

Memorial contributions in Will’s memory may be made to Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave. Lebanon, PA 17042.

Dorothy Musser, 72, maid

Dorothy L. Musser, 72, of Reinholds, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at Conestoga View, Lancaster.

She was born in Ephrata to the late Ernest and Katie (Grove) Musser.

Dorothy worked as a maid for Host Resort Inn. Dorothy enjoyed doing puzzles and games, and she particularly enjoyed playing Parcheesi and Bingo.

Dorothy is survived by a daughter: Cindy L. Gress, at home; a brother: Donald Musser; sisters: Betty Zoller, of York; Patricia Gomez, of Stevens; and Anna, wife of Jim McCall, of California; grandchildren: Sherry, wife of Michael Leed; and Dustin Gress; and great- grandchildren: Scott and Shawn Leed.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Ernest Musser Jr. and Charles Grove; a sister: Elsie Sheaffer; and three infant siblings.

Family will receive friends Oct. 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Stevens United Zion Church, Stevens, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. with Pastor John Leisey officiating. Interment will take place in the Martins cemetery.

Marla Ann Martin, 74, children’s book author

Marla Ann Martin, 74, of Ephrata, formerly of Lampeter, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at the home of her niece.

Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Paul G. and Eva (Witmer) Martin.

She taught school at various locations for 17 years. She wrote a number of children’s story books and also helped with writing school curriculum for first, second and third grades.

Surviving are one sister: Alma, wife of Harry Hertzler, of Mount Pleasant Mills; and one brother: Elvin, husband of Marian (Neff) Martin, of New Holland. She is lovingly remembered by five nephews and four nieces.

Two brothers: Paul C. and Millard L. Martin, preceded her in death.

Her funeral service will be held Oct. 24 at 1:30 p.m. from Conestoga Drive Mennonite Church, N. Conestoga Drive, Lancaster. Interment will take place at Mellinger Mennonite cemetery.

Joan Littlewood, 77, formerly of Ephrata

Joan V. Littlewood, 77, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Ephrata, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.

Born in Mineola, N.Y., Joan was the daughter of the late Frank and Wilma (Wagner) Vaneck and widow of the late Arthur B. Littlewood.

Funeral services will be held at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, at 3 p.m. Oct. 24 with the Rev. Walter Carter officiating. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the start of the service. Place of interment will be Cedar Hill cemetery, Ephrata.

Bonnie Henderson, Ephrata, was area bank teller

Bonnie S. Henderson, 50, of Ephrata and formerly of Coatesville, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was the wife of Stanley R. Henderson, with whom she shared 20 years of marriage. Born in Fort Collins, Colo., she was the daughter of the late Malcolm S. and Lacey Lee Smathers Long.

Bonnie was a 1981 graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School. For the past six years, Bonnie was employed at Ephrata National Bank. Prior to that, she was a senior teller for 22 years at Downingtown National Bank’s main office and Lionville branch. Bonnie enjoyed crocheting, shopping and reading.

Surviving her, in addition to her husband, Stanley, are a sister: Jeanne L. Kitchen; an uncle: Kenneth Long; and an aunt: Drucilla McMullen.

Funeral services were held Oct. 19 at the Harris-Mountain Funeral Home, Coatesville. Interment was private.

Marlene Hammer, Denver, Quinlan, Cinderella worker

Marlene "Grammy" J. Hammer, 80, of Denver, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at her residence.

She was born in Denver to the late Clarence and Mamie Hiester and was the wife of Robert H. Hammer. They were married 53 years in February.

She worked for Quinlin Pretzels, Kinder Manufacturing and Cinderella Knitting Mill, Denver, in the packaging department. Grammy enjoyed fishing with her husband. She also liked gardening, reading and watching NASCAR and Court TV. Later in life she enjoyed listening to audio books and going to the beach. Spending time with her daughters and grandchildren was especially enjoyable.

In addition to her husband, Grammy is survived by her daughters: Rochelle, wife of the late Jeffrey Stuter, of Middletown; Renee Reese, of Denver; and Regina Hammer, of Denver; a brother: Richard, husband of the late Doris Hiester, of Wernersville; grandchildren: Jason Stuter, of Middletown; Crystal Smith, of Lancaster; Laurie, wife of Robert Gettis, of Manheim; and Kristin, wife of Kevin Smith, of Harrisburg; two nephews; and a niece.

Funeral services were held Oct. 22 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Stephen Hollinger officiating. A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Berniece Fry, 89, loved animals, fishing trips

Berniece Grace Fry, age 89, formerly of Adamstown, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Born in Adamstown, a daughter of the late Solomon and Bessie (Sensenig) Gehman, she was the widow of Leroy C. Fry.

A member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Berniece loved animals and always had a pet dog. Fishing trips to Maryland with Leroy, crocheting and cooking for her family were her joys.

Surviving are a daughter: Gloria, wife of George Rutt, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; granddaughter: Tami, wife of Ben Noviello; two great-grandchildren: Andy and Kelly; and a brother: Arthur, husband of Dawn Gehman, of Denver.

Siblings: Mary, Dorothy and Richard Gehman preceded her in death.

A celebration of Berniece’s life will be held Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown, with Rev. William E. Hoch officiating.

Private inurnment will take place in Cedar Grove cemetery, Adamstown.
