H. Naomi Becker

H. Naomi Becker, 94, of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Ephrata Manor. Her husband, the late Earl R. Becker, passed away in 1988.

Naomi was born in Martindale, PA, daughter of the late Isaac and Gladys (Fry) Sensenig.

She graduated from Terre Hill High School and was a nurse at Ephrata Community Hospital and Dr. Stayer's office in Denver, PA. After her retirement, she was a volunteer at Ephrata Community Hospital and was also active at the Ephrata Performing Arts Center.

Naomi was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Denver, PA.

She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Surviving are two daughters: Eileen, wife of Arthur Leid of Stevens, PA and Karen Eichenlaub of Ephrata, PA; three sons: Kevin Becker, husband of Debbie, of Peach Bottom, PA, Craig Becker of York, PA, and Thomas Becker; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Naomi was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Luther Sensenig.

Viewing: 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30th at Trinity United Methodist Church, 420 Main St., Denver, PA 17517.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. at the church with Chaplain Sally Maxwell officiating. Place of interment will be Cedar Hill cemetery, Ephrata, PA.

Dr. Quintin A. Matthews

Dr. Quintin A. Matthews, 94, of Lancaster, passed away at home on Monday, March 18, 2013.

He graduated from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and was in private practice for 41 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norine, in 2002 and a son, John Quintin, in 1989.

Surviving is a daughter, Jill Bell, wife of Dr. Larry A. Bell, Lancaster, a granddaughter, Ashley, married to Mark Germak, Bend, Oregon, a grandson, Adam Matthew Bell, Bend, Oregon, and great-grandchildren, Lily Norine and Gavin James Germak.

He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Schreier, Quincy, PA.

A private service will be held at the St. Edward's Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, Lancaster, where his wife and son are interred.

Services under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

Betty R. Landis

Betty R. Landis, 82, of Brownstown, PA, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Lancashire Hall Nursing Home.

Betty was the wife of the late John S. Landis who died January 7, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Park and Anna (Hoover) Rodman.

For over 30 years, Betty provided in home daycare for many children.

Betty is survived by a daughter, Patsy A., wife of Allen DeHaven of Brownstown, PA; two sons: Larry L. Landis, husband of Mayre (Lowry) Landis of Lititz, PA and Rick E. Landis, husband of Joan (Wool) Landis of Ephrata, PA; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Harold Rodman of Strasburg, PA and Richard Rodman, husband of Marilyn (Resh) of Ephrata, PA, and one sister, Nancy Rodman of Brownstown, PA.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Rodman.

As per Betty's wishes, there will be no visitation or formal services held.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family and are under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Inc., Ephrata, PA.

Shirley I. Flickinger

Shirley I. Flickinger, 76, of Bernville, PA, formerly of Reinholds, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Reading Hospital. Her husband, the late Robert L. Flickinger, passed away Dec. 19, 2009.

Shirley was born in Reinholds, PA, daughter of the late Raymond A. and Bessie M. (Koch) Cassler.

She was formerly employed as a Machine Operator at Cacoosing Industries in Sinking Spring, PA

Shirley is survived by three children: Terry L., husband of Shirley A. (Miller) Flickinger of Wernersville, PA, Sharon, G., wife of Vincent Kravatz of Reading, PA, and Jerry L., husband of Sabrina (Sweigart) Flickinger of Wernersville; 3 grandchildren; a sister, Hattie M. Palmer of Bethel, PA; and two brothers: Robert L. Cassler of Florida and Clarence Cassler of Tuckerton, PA.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family and are under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Inc., Ephrata, PA.

Daryl R. Fry

Daryl R. Fry, 70, of Ephrata, PA, passed away at home on Saturday, March 16, 2013. He was the husband of Bonnie A. (Hoffman) Fry and son of the late Ralph A. and Mary B. (Bishop) Fry.

Daryl was a member of the Ephrata Pioneer Volunteer Fire Company for over 50 years. He had served as Deputy Chief, Second Assistant Chief, Captain, and Lieutenant for the fire company. He was also a member of the Lancaster County Fireman's Association, the Ephrata Fire Police, and Special Police for the Borough of Ephrata.

A U.S. Air Force Veteran, Daryl was a Life Member of the Cloister Post 429 American Legion in Ephrata.

Daryl was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ in Ephrata, where he was an Elder and Sunday School Superintendant.

From 1965 to 1989, Daryl was employed at RCA in Lancaster. He then had his own packaging company, called DRF Packaging, from 1992 until 2000. He later worked as a Security Guard at Ephrata Hospital and most recently was employed at Weis Market in Ephrata.

Daryl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by a daughter, Debra S., wife of Stephen Lowry of Bear, DE; a son, Dean S., husband of Jennifer (Marsh) Fry of Denver, PA; 4 grandchildren; 1 step-grandson; 1 step-great-grandson; and a sister, Deanna, wife of the Rev. Dr. C. William Wealand of Daytona, FL.

Viewings: 6-8 p.m. on Wed., March 20th at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA and 10-11 a.m. on Thurs., March 21st at Bethany UCC, 140 E. Main St., Ephrata, PA 17522.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thurs., March 21st at Bethany UCC with the Rev. William LaSalle officiating. Place of interment will be Lincoln cemetery.

Ronald C. Young

Ronald C. Young, 53, of Brownstown, PA, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 at his residence. He was the companion of Cheryl L. Spohn.

Ronald was employed as the Store Manager of the Lebanon, PA Wal Mart. He was also a research historian and author on the American Civil War. He was the author of the books Lancaster County Civil War Sites Revisited, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, In The Civil War, and Thomas Welsh In The Mexican War.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge #43 F&AM in Lancaster, PA and the Lancaster Historical Society. He was a Cub Scout Pack Leader, Little League Baseball Coach, and an avid sports fan, especially Philly sports.

In addition to his companion Cheryl, he is survived by a son, Joshua L. Young; step-son, Brett, husband of Erin Spohn; step-daughter, Christina Spohn; and two step-grandchildren.

Also surviving are his mother, Dolores Young; sister, Cathy, wife of James Sheehan; brother, Carl Young; one niece and one nephew.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Arnold R. Young.

Friends will be received at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. David Hinkley officiating. Final care will be private at the convenience of the family.

Ann Sweigart

Ann Sweigart, 79, of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was the loving wife of Clair E. Sweigart, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage on May 19.

Ann was born in Reading, PA, daughter of the late Charles E. and Dorothy (Hepler) Harting. She was a Mohnton High School graduate and worked in the Mailing Department at Doneckers in Ephrata for 21 years, retiring in 1993.

She was a member of Swamp Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reinholds, PA.

Ann enjoyed to crochet and loved traveling and spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters: Karen, wife of William Wellman of Ephrata, Cynthia, wife of Gary Tunin of Ephrata, and Christine, wife of Jeff Hickernell of Richland, PA; three sons: Donald Sweigart of Yorkana, PA, Kenneth Sweigart, husband of Patti, of York, PA, and Michael Sweigart, husband of Karen, of Reinholds, PA; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister: Mildred Quell of Mohnton, PA; and a brother: Richard Harting of Reading, PA.

Ann was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Hart and Joyce Harting.

Funeral services will be held at Swamp Evangelical Lutheran Church, 275 Swamp Church Rd., Reinholds, PA, 17569 at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011 with the Rev. Dennis L. Trout officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9-10 a.m. Interment will be in Bergstrasse Lutheran cemetery, Ephrata Twp., PA.

Services under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata, PA.

Betty E. Eberly

Betty E. Eberly, 84, of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster, PA. She was the widow of the late Harry S. Eberly who passed away in 1993.

Born in Myerstown, PA, Betty was the daughter of the late Lyman and Mary (Eckert) Beamesderfer. She worked at the former Stunzi Silk Mill as a weaver and was last employed at the Terry Colebrook Sewing Factory in the Lace Department before retiring in 1995.

She was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching sports, especially football. She also loved to shop; a favorite store of hers was Boscov's.

Betty is survived by a son, Roger L. Eberly, husband of Vicki (Montgomery) of Ephrata, a granddaughter, Janice M. Eberly of Ephrata, a brother, Dawson E. Beamesderfer of Inverness, FL, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, June 20. Funeral services will be held during the visitation at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen Ericson officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Clair D. Witmer

Clair D. Witmer, 77, of Lititz, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Manor Care in Lancaster, PA. He was the husband of Doris J. (Boyd) Witmer for 50 years.

Clair was born in Lancaster, PA, son of the late Daisy Witmer. He was a retired laborer and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 34 in Lancaster and the Lancaster Irish American Cultural Society.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Jean M., wife of Vincent E. Burchett of Lititz, PA, Judy L., wife of Michael A. Peris of Lancaster, PA, and Patricia A., wife of Craig C. Rowe of Mountville, PA; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Tedford officiating. Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard will be in Strasburg Mennonite cemetery.

Brigid E. Tully

Brigid Eileen Tully, infant daughter of Patrick J. and Eileen G. (Magarahan) Tully of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

She was the identical twin sister of the late Fiona Jane Tully, who passed away on May 8, 2011.

In addition to her parents, Brigid is survived by three brothers: John M., Patrick J. Jr., and Thomas C. Tully.

Friends will be received at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, 320 Church Ave., Ephrata, PA on Thursday, June 30 at 11 a.m. Final Commendation and Farewell will follow at Cedar Hill cemetery, Ephrata, PA.
