Michael S. Gift
April 21, 1967 - August 13, 2001

Michael S. Gift, 34, of 303 Grant Road, Adamstown, Lancaster County, died unexpectedly in his home early Monday morning. He was under a doctor's care. Born in West Reading, Berks County, he was a son of Marie (Woll) Gingrich, Butte, Montana, and Robert Gingrich, Bethel, PA. He and his wife, Lois J. (Heyer) Gift, were married for 9 years on June 19th. Michael was a 1984 graduate of Eastern Lebanon County High School, and was last employed as a salesman for A-Treat Bottling Corp., Reading, PA. An avid car enthusiast, he built race cars, and was a committed Penn State Football fan and enjoyed fishing with is son. Surviving in addition to his parents and wife, is a son, Zachary T. Gift, at home; and 2 brothers, Jeffery A., husband of Tracy M. (McDonald) Gift, North Ridgeville, Ohio; and Dallas S. Gift, Reading, PA.

Memorial Visitation: Friday, August 17, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our parlors.

As Michael didn't care for flowers, please remember him with contributions to his son's education.

Eugene W. Getz
Aug. 1, 1934 - Sept. 26, 2001

Eugene W. Getz, 67, of 103 Jefferson Avenue, Denver, Lancaster County, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at the Muddy Creek Hunting Club, Brown Township, Lycoming County. The coroner’s office of Lycoming County has determined his death to be of natural causes. Born in Terre Hill, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Eugene W. and Mary C. (Gouse) Getz, and was the husband of Janice M. (Horst) Getz, for 46 years on August 17th. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Denver, where he served as trustee for many years. Retiring in 1998 from the Service Department of Sunline Coach Company, Denver, he continued working there part-time and has been with the company for 27 years. Getz was an Army veteran during peacetime, and memberships include the Muddy Creek Hunting Club, Lycoming Co.; Cocalico Sportman’s Association, Denver; Northern Lancaster County Sportsman’s Association; and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and dart ball player for many years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons, Kerwin L., married to Sallie J. (Good) Getz; and Doran L. Getz, both of Denver; a grandson; a brother, William, married to June (Miller) Getz, Sr., Akron; and 3 sisters, Shirley, married to Robert Hoffman; and Betty, married to Elwood Lees, both of Ephrata; and Dolores, married to Gilbert Myers, Lititz.

A viewing will be held on Monday evening, October 1, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our parlors and also at the church Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:00 AM.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at 10:00 AM from Trinity United Methodist Church, 420 Main Street, Denver, PA, with Pastor Gene L. Wilkins officiating.

The interment will follow the church services in Fairview cemetery, North 4th Street, Denver, PA.

Ralph T. Fritz "Schnick"
Jan. 25, 1908 - Nov. 4, 2001

Ralph T. “Schnick” Fritz, 93, formerly of Reamstown, died Sunday morning at 8:48 AM in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Veteran’s Home, Spring City, Chester County, where he resided since August 29, 1999. Born in Reamstown, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Mahlon B. and Minnie (Artz) Fritz. He was employed many years as a carpenter with Norm Seichrist Builder and Ray Leid Builder in the Reamstown area, and was last employed at Boose Aluminum Foundry, Reamstown. “Schnick” was an army veteran of World War II. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a longtime member of the Reamstown Athletic Association. Surviving are nieces and nephews.

"Schnick's" viewing will be held at our funeral home on Thursday, November 8, 2001, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with the funeral beginning at 11:00 AM, Pastor Nevin R. Andes officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Union cemetery, Reamstown.

Phoebe J. Frankhouser
Dec. 27, 1927 - July 31, 2001

Phoebe J. Frankhouser, 73, of 60 Katie Drive, Ronks, Lancaster County, died Tuesday evening at 10:08 PM in her residence under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. Born in Swartzville, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Annie (Roether) Kilhefner, and was the wife of Robert L. Frankhouser for 53 years on April 6th. Retiring in 1993, she was employed for over 30 years by M & M Garment, Bart. Earlier she was employed by the former Walter W. Moyer, Inc., Ephrata. Mrs. Frankhouser was devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking and housework. She was a 1944 graduate of Ephrata High School. Surviving in addition to her husband are 2 sons, Jerry L. Frankhouser, Lancaster; and Gary G., married to Shirley Frankhouser, Winter Springs, Florida; 2 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Allegra, married to Harry Steffy, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Betty, married to Leon Zimmerman, Limerick, PA; and 4 brothers, John, married to Hannah Kilhefner, Amesville, Virginia; Fred Kilhefner, Coral Springs, Florida; Harry, married to Edith (Gehman) Kilhefner, Lititz, PA; and Ray Kilhefner, Ephrata, PA. Two brothers, William and H. Leo Kilhefner, preceded her in death.

Will be held on Monday, August 6, 2001, at 11:00 AM from our parlors with The Reverend Jeffrey Lott officiating. It was Phoebe's request that the casket be closed. She will be buried in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, East Cocalico Township.

Henry S. Frankhouser
Dec. 24, 1916 - Aug. 17, 2001

Henry S. Frankhouser, 84, formerly of Muddy Creek Road, Denver, Lancaster County, died Friday at 12:55 PM in the Denver Nursing Home, Stevens, where he resided since August 21, 2000. Born in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Susie (Becker) Frankhouser. His wife, Alma M. (Lausch) Frankhouser, died August 15, 1998. He was a member of Muddy Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, Swartzville, where he was a former council member and zone leader. Henry was employed for over 25 years by Bollman Hat Company, Adamstown, retiring in 1982. He had also worked for many years on the family farm. Surviving is a son, H. Gene, married to Sharon (Gruber) Frankhouser, Denver, PA; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A son, Floyd R. Frankhouser, and a brother, Clayton A. Frankhouser, preceded him in death.

The funeral ceremony for Henry will be on Tuesday, August 21, 2001, at 10:00 AM from his church, Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, 11 S. Muddy Creek Rd., Denver (Swartzville). The casket will be open prior to the service for viewing.

A viewing will be held from our parlor on Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

Alverta L. Franck
1935 - 2001

Alverta was born in East Cocalico Township, Lanca ster County, PA, a daughter of the late Howard and Grace V. (Berg) Brubaker. She cleaned for several local businesses and in dividuals until the time of her illness and was a member of the Reamstown Athletic Association. Alverta loved playing the piano and organ and enjoyed dancing. She is survived by 2 daughters, Tracey L., of Lebanon; and Holly J., of Denver; 2 sons, Brian R., married to Sue (Gerhart) Franck, Denver; and Dale C. Frank, Ephrata; 4 grandchild ren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Betty J. Rishel, Denver; and 2 brothers, Lavern, married to Rose Brubaker, Ephrata; and Vernon Brubaker, Florida. A brother, Larry Berg, preceded her in death. She died Tuesday in the Ephrata Community Hospital where she was a patient since April 13th. Alverta lived at 99 Monroe Street, Denver, PA 17517.

Services from our parlor on Saturday, May 5, 2001, at 10:00 AM, Pastor Woody Lane officiating, with burial in Fairview cemetery Annex, Denver. Viewing will be Friday 7 - 9 PM.

Ray C. Firestone
Oct. 19, 1931 - Nov. 4, 2001

Ray C. Firestone, 70, of 455 Lauschtown Road, Denver, Lancaster County, died Sunday morning in Hershey Medical Center, Dauphin County, where he was a patient for the past week. His death followed an illness of one year. Born in Denver, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Elwood, Sr., and Lucy (Messner) Firestone, and was the husband of Pauline J. (Weidner) Firestone for 46 years on June 18th. He was a member of St. John’s Center United Church of Christ, East Earl, PA, and was a former member and councilman of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Bowmansville. Retiring in 1994, he was a stone mason with Eshbach Brothers, Reading, for many years and was a member of the Bricklayers Union Local #5. Ray was a staff sergeant in the army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Adamstown VFW, the R Field & Stream Sportsman Club, Lebanon, PA, and enjoyed gardening. Ray and his wife are also know for their annual Christmas light and scene displays at their home near Bowmansville.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Randy R. Firestone, Lebanon, PA; a grandson, Michael R. Firestone, Cornwall, and 2 great-grandsons. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Geneva Firestone, Barbara Firestone, and Floy, married to Clyde Goshert, all of Denver, PA; and 3 brothers, Elwood Firestone, Jr., Reading, PA; Jay, married to Elva Firestone, Lititz, PA; and Kay, married to Marian (Youndt) Firestone, Adamstown.

Ray's viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our funeral home with his services beginning at 9:00 PM with The Reverend Robert A. Witmyer officiating.

Merla L. Eshleman
1932-2001

Born in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Phares K. "Pit" Steffy and the late Mary E. (Stricker) Steffy, who died April 9th of this year. Merla was a member of Akron Church of the Brethren. She was an avid gardner, great cook and enjoyed sewing. She was employed many years ago at the former Cinderella Knitting Mill, Denver, Walter W. Moyer, Inc., Ephrata, and retired in June 1983 after 26 years with the former C & B Trimming, Reamstown. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth Eshleman; a son, Kenneth L., married to Deborah M. (Jones) Eshleman, Stevens, PA; a daughter, Vivian A., married to David K. Kopp, Reinholds, PA; 5 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Also 2 sisters, Rosalie Crawford, Stevens, PA; and Nancy, married to Lamar Seifrit, Denver, PA; and 4 brothers, John, married to Alberta (DeLong) Steffy, and Thomas, married to Bonnie (Althouse) Steffy, both of Reamstown, PA; and Richard, married to Cathy (Hartranft) Steffy, and Terry, married to Susan (Summers) Steffy, both of Stevens, PA; A brother, Clarence "Mike" Steffy died in 1999. Merla and Kenneth lived at 1261 Red Run Road, Stevens, where she was stricken ill unexpectedly Friday evening. She died Tuesday afternoon at 4:34 PM in the Ephrata Community Hospital.

It was Merla's wish that her services be held privately by her family from our parlor. Burial will be in Middle Creek Brethren cemetery, Ephrata Township. Kindly omit flowers, contributions may be sent in her memory to the church's Memorial Fund, Akron Church of the Brethren, 621A Main Street, Akron, PA 17501.

Stanley Cybulski
Nov. 3, 1955 - July 31, 2001

Stanley Cybulski, 45, of 65 Village Spring Lane, Reinholds, Lancaster County, PA, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon in the emergency room of Ephrata Community Hospital after being transported from his residence. He was the husband of Catherine P. "Cathy" (Hanafin) Cybulski for the almost 20 years. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of Mildred (Zimmerman) Cybulski, Lindenhurst, NY, and the late Charles Cybulski. He attended Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ephrata. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are a sister, Mildred Cybulski, Lindenhurst, NY; and a brother, Charles Cybulski, New York State. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 4, 2001, at 10:00 AM from Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Church & Pine Streets, Ephrata, PA. Final commendation and farewell in the Our Mother of Perpetual Help Section of Cedar Hill cemetery, Ephrata.

Viewings will be held from our parlor on Thursday and Friday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM with a prayer service on Friday at 8:00 PM.

The casket will be open briefly on Saturday at the church immediately prior to the mass.
