Richard M. Auman
Among the local survivors of Richard M. Auman, 61, St. Lawrence, who was dead on arrival of natural causes Dec. 31, 2002 in St. Joseph Medical Center, is a half sister, Karen (Schollenberger) Wanner, Hamburg.

Molene B. Rothermel
Services were held in Pleasant Union Church, Lillington, N.C., for Molene B. Rothermel, 84, Tobias Lane, Bern Township, who died Dec. 30, 2002 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient for three days.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marshall Rothermel, who died June 1, 1999.
Born in Lillington, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Bessie (Johnson) Brown.
She was a graduate of Lillington High School and a member of Pleasant Union Christian Church, Lillington.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna F. (Rothermel) Koch, Bernville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Tommy Brown, Lillington; and two sisters, Mary L. (Brown) Tudor, Angier, N.C., and Louise (Brown) Lancaster, Fayetteville, N.C.
The Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, was in charge of arrangements.

Esther L. Homan
Services were held in the Leibensperger Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Esther L. Homan, 96, formerly of State Street, Hamburg, who died Dec. 31, 2002 in the Topton Lutheran Home, where she had resided since March 19, 1997.
Burial was in St. John’s cemetery.
She was predeceased by her husband, Chester Homan, who died Dec. 3, 1963.
Born in Hamburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert T. and Katie E. (Folk) Koller.
She and her husband were the owners/operators of Homan’s IGA Store and Post Office, Virginville, for 19 years. After closing the store in 1962, she was assistant postmaster and postmaster until retiring.
Homan was a 65-year member and past matron of Blue Mountain Chapter 443 Order of Eastern Star, Hamburg, and was past noble grand of Clementine Rebekah Lodge 571, Hamburg.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg.

Alice R. Hill Carabello
Among the local survivors of Alice R. (Stevenson) Hill Carabello, 56, Reading, who died of natural causes Dec. 31, 2002 in Pottsville Hospital, where she had been a patient one day, is a daughter, Sherry Hill, Hamburg.

Robert L. McCall
Services were held in the chapel of Mount Hope cemetery, Penn Hills, Allegheny County, for Robert L. McCall, 42, who was pronounced dead Dec. 30, 2002 as a result of carbon monixide poisoning in his Five Points Road, Bethel Township residence.
His death was attributed to fumes from a kerosene heater inside his garage, and a certificate of accidental death has been issued.
Born in Pittsburgh, he was a son of David L. and Dolores (Schwatz) McCall, Slippery Rock, Butler County.
He was a 1978 graduate of Lebanon High School.
McCall was employed as a mechanic by Flying Hills Golf Course.
He was a Navy veteran.
Also surviving are a sister, Kathryn (McCall) Weir, New Sewickley Township, Allegheny County.
The Richland Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of arrangements.

Russell G. Stump
Services were held in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg, for Russell G. Stump, 74, of Old Route 22, Windsor Township, who died Feb. 20, 2003 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient six days.
Burial was in St. John’s cemetery, Hamburg.
He was the husband of Mae L. (Levan) Stump. His first wife, Arlene P. (Merkel) Stump, died in 1967.
Born in Klinesville, Greenwich Township, he was a son of the late William F. and Verna A. (George) Stump.
Until retiring in 1994, he was employed as an auto mechanic by Francis L. Werley Inc., Windsor Township, for 47 years.
He was a 1946 graduate of Kutztown High School.
Stump was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg, where he was a former councilman and usher.
Also surviving are two sons, David R. Stump, Marietta, Ohio and Mark W. Stump, Mohrsville, adn a daughter, Carol J. (Stump) Armer, Mohnton.
There are also five grandchildren.
Other survivors include three brothers: Steward F. Stump and Wayne W. Stump, both of Greenwich Township and Sterling E. Stump, Windsor Township.

Lorraine A. Moyer
Services were held in Salem United Methodist Church, Shoemakersville, for Lorraine A. Moyer, 75, of Main Street, Shoemakersville, who died Feb. 21, 2003 in St. Joseph Medical Center, where she had been a patient since Jan. 16.
Burial was in St. Luke’s cemetery, Perry Township.
Born in Shoemakersville, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Carrie M. (Bitterman) Moyer.
Until retiring in 1993, she was employed as a bookeeper and later as a partner with the R.P. Miller Co., Shoemakersville.
Moyer was a 1945 graduate of Perry High School and a 1946 graduate of the McCann Business School, Reading.
She was a member of Salem UM Church, where she was a former financial secretary.
Moyer was also a former secretary of St. Luke’s cemetery.
Surviving are two sisters, Christine M. (Moyer) Knittle, Riverview Park, and Carol A. (Moyer) Bitner, Muhlenberg Township.
The Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas S. Braine
Among the local survivors of Thomas S. Braine, 80, who died Feb. 23, 2003 in his Brecknock Township residence, is a daughter, Tamie J. (Braine) Meyers, Lenhartsville.

Mary J. Dodson
Among the local survivors of Mary J. (Leininger) Dodson, 83, who died Feb. 23, 2003 in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Veterans Center, Chester County, where she had resided since Sept. 1999, is a daughter, Anna (Dodson) Moyer, Hamburg.

Robert L. McNeil
Among the local survivors of Robert L. McNeil, 56, who died Feb. 23, 2003 in his Harrisburg residence, is a son, Robert L. McNeil II, Shoemakersville.

A. Beatrice Rothenberger
Among the local survivors of A. Beatrice (Young) Rothenberger, 92, who died Feb. 24, 2003 in Highlands at Wyomissing Skilled Nursing Unit, is a son, G. Richard Rothenberger, Mohrsville.

Burd S. Hillbish Jr.
Among the local survivors of Burd S. Hillbish Jr., 77, of Reading, who died Feb. 24, 2003 in ManorCare Health Services Inc., West Reading, where he had resided one day, is a son, Donald J. Hillbish, Bernville.

Domenic A. Mente
Among the local survivors of Domenic A. Mente, 82, of Topton, who died Feb. 24, 2003 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Jan. 30, is a daughter, Joan (Mente) Kauffman, Hamburg.

Thomas L. Parsons
Among the local survivors of Thomas Livingood Parsons, 77, who died Feb. 24, 2003 in his Spring Township residence is a stepson, Thomas M. Calvaresi, Penn Township.
He was also the president of Hood and Co. Inc., Hamburg, from June 1970 until his retirement in 1982.

Earl E. Kauffman
Former Penn Twp. supervisor
Services were held in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville, for Earl E. Kauffman, 85, of New Schaefferstown Road, Jefferson Township, who died Feb. 26, 2003 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient for four days.
Burial was in Bern cemetery, Bern Township.
He was the husband of Irene E. (Noecker) Kauffman.
Born in North Heidelberg Township, he was a son of the late Francis and Edna (Fidler) Kauffman.
Her served as a Penn Township supervisor in the 1950s and 1960s.
Until retiring in 1982, he was employed in the maintenance department of Baldwin Hardware Co., Reading, for 28 years. He was also a self-employed farmer.
Kauffman was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a former steward of the Bernville Grange and was named “Granger of the Year” in 1995.
Kauffman was a member of Bern Lutheran Church, Bern Township.
Also surviving are two sons, Dennis E. Kauffman and Ronald L. Kauffman, both of Bernville; and three daughters: Earlene I. (Kauffman) Hecker, Exeter Township; and Lorene A. (Kauffman) Triviets and Ilene J. (Kauffman) Batz, both of Bernville.
There are also eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah (Kauffman) Spitler, Wernersville.
