John Wetzel
Among the local survivors of John Wetzel, 79, who died March, 2003 in his Temple residence, is a daughter, Joyce A. (Wetzel) Sipe, Leesport.

Anthony A. Cavallucci
Among the local survivors of Anthony A. Cavallucci, 83, who died April 6, 2003 in his Reading residence, is a brother, Louis Cavallucci, Greenfields.

Janet M. Plasha
Among the local survivors of Janet M. (Schluth) Plasha, 58, who died of natural causes April 7, 2003 in her Quaker City Road, Albany Township residence, is a daughter, Bernadette M. (Plasha) Leibensperger, Kempton.

Helen F. Glebocki
Services were arranged by the Leibensperger Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Helen F. Glebocki, 93, of Lincoln Drive, Tilden Township, who died April 3, 2003 in Laurel Center Genesis Elder Care, Tilden Township, where she had resided since June 21.
She was predeceased by her husband, Casimir B. Glebocki, who died Sept. 15, 1975.
Born in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Szymanski) Wyszynski.
Until retiring in 1971, she was employed by the Barnac Shoe Factory, Reading, for many years.
She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Tilden Township.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia A. (Glebocki) Hoyer, with whom she resided for 28 years, and a son, Andrew R. Glebocki, Mount Penn.
There are also two grandchildren, four step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Frank Wyszynski, Seaford, N.Y., and a sister, Mary (Wyszynski) Merked, a resident at Country Meadows of Wyomissing.

Dorothy B. Talys
Among the local survivors of Dorothy B. (Brossman) Talys, 88, formerly of South Heidelberg Township, who died April 4, 2003 in Berks Heim, where she had resided since January, are a son, Joel D. Talys and a daughter, Gloria (Talys) Prizer, both of Bernville.

Kevin K. Sallada
Among the local survivors of Kevin K. Sallada, 39, of East Greenville, Montgomery County, who died of natural causes April 6, 2003 in ManorCare Health Services, Pottstown, is a stepsister, Carol Kehl, Lenhartsville.

Irene M. Adams
Services were held in the Leibensperger Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Irene M. Adams, 90, formerly of West State Street, Hamburg, who died April 6, 2003 in the Berks Heim Annex, where she had been a resident since April 15, 1997.
Burial was in St. Michael’s cemetery, Tilden Township.
She was predeceased by her husband, James A. Adams, who died Oct. 30, 1997.
Born in Upper Bern Township, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Mamie (Haas) Rentschler.
Until retiring in 1992, she was employed in the cafeteria of Hamburg High School for 20 years.
She was a life member of the Women of the Moose, Hamburg.
Adams was a member of Frieden’s Lutheran Church, Bernville.
Surviving are a son, Eugene J. Adams, Hamburg; a daughter, Shirley E. (Adams) Flammer, Edenburg; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Dennis Rentschler, Robesonia, and a sister, Kathryn (Rentschler) Spengler, Strausstown.

Clara M. Reber Rusch
Private services and burial were arranged by the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Clara M. Reber Rusch, 90, formerly of St. Petersburg, Fla., who died April 10, 2003 in Laurel Center Genesis Elder Care, Tilden Township, where she had resided since March 6.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Reber, who died in 1964, and by her second husband, Samuel Rusch.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Sallie A. (Kemp) Fox.
Surviving are a daughter, Helen N. (Reber) Becker, Hamburg; a son Robert R. Reber, Mifflin Park; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Helen A. Borkey
Ex-Upper Bern secretary
Services were held in the Leibensperger Funeral Home, Centerport, for Helen A. Borkey, 71, formerly of Upper Bern Township, who was dead on arrival April 8, 2003 in Reading Hospital.
She was taken to the hospital from the Mifflin Center, Cumru Township, where she had resided since March 19. She previously resided at Country Meadows of Wyomissing for three years.
Burial was in Frieden’s cemetery, Shartlesville.
Borkey was predeceased by her husband, Franklin J. Borkey, who died Aug. 2, 1997.
Born in Windsor Township, she was a daughter of the late Clarence J. and Evelyn E. (Faust) Berger.
She served several terms as the Upper Bern Township secretary.
Borkey was employed in the packaging department of Flag-Utica Division of Merit Underwear Co., Shoemakersville, for eight years, and also sold items for Dutch-Maid Clothing, Sunshine Products and Stanley Products.
She was a member of Frieden’s Church, Shartlesville.
Surviving are a son, Franklin J. Borkey Jr., Upper Bern Township; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Robert C. Berger, and a sister, Thelma (Berger) Yuknavage, both of Upper Bern Township.

Helen M. Berger
Services were held in the Leibensperger Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Helen M. Berger, 85, formerly of Shartlesville, who died April 9, 2003 in the Laurel Center Genesis Elder Care, Tilden Township, where she had resided since Jan. 1.
Burial was in Strausstown Union cemetery.
Born in Upper Bern Township, she was a daughter of the late Emmanuel M. and Daisy M. (Adams) Berger.
Until retiring, she was employed by the Bernville Manufacturing Co., for 10 years. She was previously employed by Burkey Underwear Co., Hamburg; the Hamburg Diner; and Haag’s Hotel, Shartlesville.
Berger was a member of Zion’s (Blue Mountain) United Church of Christ, Strausstown.
Surviving are a sister, Lillian I. (Berger) Bausher, a resident at the Laurel Center.

Anna E. Zerr
Among the local survivors of Anna E. (Bucher) Zerr, 92, of Robeson Township, who died April 9, 2003 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient one day, is a sister, Verna (Bucher) Hart, Shoemakersville.

James L. Callahan Jr.
Services were held in the Bean Funeral Home, Reading, for James L. Callahan Jr., 79, of Bernville Road, Bern Township, who died June 7, 2003 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since May 26.
Burial was in Charles Evans cemetery.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ardelle M. (Cartell) Callahan, who died March 6, 2001.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late James L. Sr. and Carrie D. (Nein) Callahan.
Until retiring in 1981, he was employed by Dana Corp. for many years.
He was a 1940 graduate of Reading High School and a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving is a daughter, Shelia M. Callahan, Altamonte Springs, Fla., and a sister, Eleanor M. (Callahan) Resch, Reading.

Gerald L. Mengel
Among the local survivors of Gerald L. Mengel, 73, of Reading, who died June 8, 2003 in the emergency room of St. Joseph Medical Center, is a son, Todd J. Mengel, Hamburg.

Ronald B. Oldt
Among the local survivors of Ronald B. Oldt, 57, of Reading, who died of natural causes June 9, 2003 in Reading Hospital, is a daughter, Michelle L. (Oldt) Rauch, Strausstown.

Joyce E. Jones
Services were held in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, for Joyce E. Jones, 63, of Mohrsville Road, Perry Township, who died of natural causes June 8, 2003 in St. Joseph Medical Center, where she had been a patient since May 23.
Burial was in Epler’s cemetery, Bern Township.
She was the wife of Albert J. Jones.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Edna (Sensenig) Roth.
Until retiring in 2002, she was employed as a lens polisher by Pennsylvania Optical Co. for 30 years.
She was a member of Epler’s United Church of Christ, Bern Township.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mistee M. (Ross) Atkins, Shartlesville; a son, Scott R. Cullen, Perry Township; and a stepson, Gregory A. Jones, Reading.
There are also four grandchildren.
Other survivors include a sister, Joan (Roth) Lenhart, and a brother, Glenn Roth, both of Bern Township.

Irma R. Kimmel
Among the local survivors of Irma R. (Dreher) Kimmel, 86, of Grantville, Dauphin County, who died June 7, 2003 in Hershey Medical Center, is a daughter, Nancy Jean (Kimmel) Reppert, Hamburg.
