Dennis A. Lengel, 64
Memorial services were held in the Leibensperger Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Dennis A. Lengel, who died of natural causes Oct. 2, 2003 in his Stone Hill Road, Perry Townshipr residence.
Burial was in St. John’s cemetery, Hamburg.
He was the husband of Marianne L. (Jahn) Lengel.
Born in Auburn, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Richard A. and Evelyn E. (Boyer) Lengel.
He was employed by the Molly Division of United Shoe Machine Corp., Temple, for 25 years. He later worked as a tool and die maker by Uniform Tube, Trappe, Montgomery County and part-time for the Northern Berks Merchendiser, Hamburg.
He was a 1956 graduate of Auburn High School and an Air Force veteran.
Lengel was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg.
Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey A. Lengel, Roy, Utah; a granddaughter; and a brother, Frederick Lengel, Shartlesville.

Cora A. Stetzler, 93
Services were held in the Leibensperger Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Cora A. Stetzler, formerly of the Wyndcliffe House Apartments, Hamburg, who died Sept. 24, 2003 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient for one day.
She was taken to the hospital from the Laurel Center Genesis Elder Care, Tilden Township, where she had resided since 1997.
Burial was in St. John’s (Gernant’s) cemetery, Ontelaunee Township.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elias H. Stetzler, who died July 30, 1961.
Born in Maidencreek Township, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Amelia (Schlear) Koller.
Until retiring in 1976, she was employed by the Crown Knitting Mill, Mohrsville and the Merit Underwear Co., Shoemakersville, for many years.
She was a member of St. John’s (Gernant’s) United Church of Christ, Ontelaunee Township.
Surviving are a daughter, Dolores E. (Stetzler) Spatz, Centre Township; and three sons: Leon A. Stetzler and Roger L. Stetzler, both of Hamburg; and Sherwood A. Stetzler, Bernville.
There are also 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Joseph Levin, 94
The Cremation Society of Maryland was in charge of arrangements for Joseph Levin, of North East, Md., and formerly of Jefferson Township, who died Sept. 29, 2003 in a nursing home in North East.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Abraham and Dora Levin.
He was one of the owners of Blue Mountain Dairy Inc., Reading, until 1960, at which time he and his brother, Leonard, purchased the Reading Coca Cola Bottling Co. He was previously employed as a beer salesman by Ball & Co., Reading, and in the public relations department of Publicker Liquors, Reading.
Levin was the developer of a light-industrial building in the Northeast Industrial Community Development Project.
He was a former director of the Heidelberg Country Club and president of Landmark Properties, Wyomissing.
Levan retired to Boca Raton, Fla., and later invested in a marina in North East, Md.
Also surviving are a daughter, Carol (Levin) Gerhart, North East, with whom he resided; a son, David Levin, York; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mae (Levin) Marlowe, Reading and Charlotte (Levin) Chapman, Houston, Texas; and a brother, Morton Levin, Houston.

Irene M. Smith, 80
Private services were arranged by the Leibensperger Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Irene M. Smith, of Main Street, Strausstown, who died Sept. 29, 2003 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient five days.
Burial was in Fairview (Belleman’s) cemetery, Centre Township.
She was predeceased by her husband, Sanford T. Smith, who died Aug. 15, 1985.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Ruth M. (Bickel) Kreider.
Until 1997, she was employed by the Blue Mountain and Reading Railroad, Temple. She was previously employed for many years as a folder by Globe Underwear Co., Leesport, and the Crown Knitting Mill, Mohrsville.
She was a member of Salem (Belleman’s) Church, Centre Township.
Surviving is a son, Kenneth R. Snyder, Kenhorst; a granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen M. (Kreider) Brendel, Shoemakersville.

Warren W. Heim, 86
Services were held in the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Warren W. Heim, formerly of Main Street, Shoemakersville, who died Oct. 3, 2003 in St. Joseph Medical Center, whre he had been a patient since Sept. 29.
He was taken to the hospital from the Laurel Center Genesis Elder Care, Tilden Township, where he had resided three years.
Burial was in Friedens cemetery, Shartlesville.
He was predeceased by his wife, LaRue G. (Degler) Heim, who died May 2, 1994.
Born in Auburn, he was a son of the late Adam E. and Lillie E. (Nye) Heim.
Until retiring in 1981, he was employed in the pattern storage department of Empire Steel Castings Inc., Muhlenberg Township.
He was a member of Friedens Church, Shartlesville.
Heim was a World War II Army veteran and a 50-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Auburn.
Surviving is a sister-in-law, Ruth Klee, Hamburg.

Russell W. Stump, 77
Services were held in Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, Spring Grove, York County, for Russell W. Stump, who died Oct. 2, 2003 in his Bethel Township residence.
Burial was in Shrewsbury Dunkard Brethren cemetery, York County.
He was the husband of Mildred E. (Sheffer) Stump.
Born in Plymouth, Ind., he was a son of the late Clarence and Shella (Rottmiller) Stump.
Until retiring, he was employed several years as a truck driver.
He was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren.
Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey A. Stump, York; and two daughters, Judith A. (Stump) Longenecker, Bernville, and Joyce A. (Stump) Stauffer, Myerstown.
There are also 10 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include three brothers: Paul Stump, Englewood, Ohio; Joseph Stump, York; and John Stump, Bernville; and three sisters: Luella (Stump) Shuman, Carlisle; Mary (Stump) Hartz, Palmyra; and Ruth (Stump) Burtner, Red Lion, York County.
The Irwin Funeral Home, Spring Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Therman D. Hafer, 91
Services will be held Wed., Oct. 8, 10:30 a.m., in the Milkins Funeral Home, Temple, for Therman D. Hafer, formerly of Leesport, who died Oct. 4, 2003 in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where he had resided since 1998.
Burial will be in Leesport cemetery.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mabel I. (moser) Hafer, who died Dec. 9, 2002.
Born in Dauberville, he was a son of the late Daniel and Lizzie (Mitchell) Hafer.
Until retiring in 1972, he was employed as a journeyman metalsmith by Nick’s Roofing and Siding, Leesport.
Hafer was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Leesport.
Surviving are a son, Lee D. Hafer, Laurinburg, N.C.; a daughter, Phyllis A. (Hafer) Miller, Reading; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a sister, Lyle (Hafer) Marrongelle, Orwigsburg.

Robert W. Keim, 85
Services will be held Wed., Oct. 8, 11 a.m., in the Leibensperger Funeral Home, Hamburg, for Robert W. Keim, of Main Street, Shoemakersville, who died Oct. 3, 2003 in the Laurel Center Genesis Elder Care, Tilden Township, where he had been a patient one month.
Burial will be in Zion’s cemetery, Perry Township.
He was the husband of Mary O. (Wert) Keim. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mabel (Fisher) Keim, who died in May 1952.
Born in Perry Township, he was a son of the late Richard and Cora (Bubbenmoyer) Keim.
Until retiring Dec. 21, 1979, he was employed by the Universal Machinery Equipment Co., Reading, for 17 years. He was previously employed as a machinist and later a foreman by Pennsylvania Steel Foundry and Machine Co., Hamburg, for 20 years.
Also surviving are a sister, Stella (Keim) Adam, Lititz, Lancaster County.
He was predeceased by a son, Charles Keim.

Wayne O. Zerbe, 83
Services were held in the Hill Funeral Home, Rehrersburg, for Wayne O. Zerbe, of Walnut Street, Strausstown, who died Nov. 9, 2003 in the emergency room of Pottsville Hospital.
Burial was in Christ (Little Tulpehocken) cemetery, Jefferson Township.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lela E. (Krause) Zerbe, who died March 17, 1992.
Born in Upper Tulpehocken Township, he was a son of the late Raymond C. and Mary M. (Binner) Zerbe.
Until retiring in 1984, he was employed as a bender by Hofmann Industries, Sinking Spring, for 33 years. He was previously employed by Anthony’s Hosiery Co., Strausstown, for 18 years. Zerbe was employed part-time by J.M. Fence & Deck Co., Mohrsville.
Surviving is a son, Dennis R. Zerbe, Frystown, and two grandsons.
Other survivors include four sisters: Irene M. (Zerbe) Hiester, a resident at ManorCare Health Services, West Reading; Betty L. (Zerbe) Spengler, Lansing, Mich.; Shirley A. (Zerbe) Batz, Frystown; and Barbara E. Zerbe, Strausstown.
