Michael D. Yotter
Private services were held for Michael D. Yotter, 57, of Coopersburg, who passed away on July 29, 2004, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill.
He was the husband of Joann M. (Skriletz) Yotter. They were married for 38 years.
Born in Fountain Hill, he was the son of Julia A. (Chuck) Yotter of Hellertown and the late Harry R. Yotter, Sr.
He was self-employed.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by sons, John Skriletz of Kintnersville, David M. Yotter of Hellertown, Michael S. Yotter and Stephen M. Yotter, both at home; a daughter, Carol Ann Willemet of Hellertown; brothers, Harry R. and Stephen both of Hellertown; a sister, Mary F. Yotter of Hellertown; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial remembrances in the form of contributions be made to The Yotter Family, care of Heintzelman Funeral Home.

Jeffrey C. Anewalt
Private services were held for Jeffrey C. Anewalt, 40, of Freemansburg, who passed away on July 26, 2004 in Fountain Hill.
He was the husband of Eileen M. (Stair) Anewalt. They were married for eight years.
Born in Fountain Hill, he was the son of Clyde W. and Elizabeth (Yob) Anewalt of Freemansburg.
He was a tutor at the Northampton County Community College for the past two years.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Bethlehem.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Erica A., and a brother, Thomas C.
Memorial remembrances in the form of contributions be made to Erica A. Anewalt Education Fund, care of Heintzelman Funeral Home.

Victoria Popovitch
Victoria Popovitch, 85, of Lattimer died Saturday at the Greater Hazleton Health Alliance, Broad Street Campus.
Born in Lattimer, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Latella) Bagnata, and lived in the area all of her life.
Prior to retiring, she had been employed at Carmella Dress, Hazleton.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Lattimer.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were a sister, Lena Formica, and brothers, Joseph and Frank Bagnata.
Surviving are her husband, Michael; sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Anna) Poluka, Lattimer; Pauline Vito, Hazleton, and Helen Goodwin, Mobile, Ala.; and brothers, Anthony, Milnesville, and Roger, Rock Glen. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Fierro Funeral Home Inc., 26 W. Second St., Hazleton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery, Drums.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Mildred J. Sterner
Mildred J. Sterner, 88, who along with her husband, the late Harry E. Sterner, owned and operated the former Sterner Flower Shop, 132 N. Wyoming St., Hazleton, died Saturday afternoon at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton. She had resided in the apartment above the family business.
Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Polumbo) Marsicano, and a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic (Slovak) Church, Hazleton, and the Confraternity of Christian Women of the parish, where she served as president and had been very active.
She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Hazleton, and the Greater Hazleton Senior Citizens.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, who died in 1970, were a brother, Joseph Marsicano; and sisters, Antonette Morrell, Mary Marsicano and Anna Visgaites.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving is one nephew.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the John J. Pusti Funeral Home, 480 W. Broad St., Hazleton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity R.C. (Slovak) Church. Interment will take place in Most Precious Blood cemetery, Hazleton.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be conducted.

Elsie Grant
Elsie (Tamanini) Grant, 81, Evansville, Ind., formerly of Hazleton, died Saturday at Deaconess Hospital, Indiana.
She was the daughter of the late Henry and Victoria Tamanini.
A member of St. Theresa’s parish for more than 50 years, she helped at church dinners, summer socials, kuchen baking and quilting. In addition, she was a member of the Stringtown Homemakers Club.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were a sister, Lucy Waxman, and brothers, Tony and Frank Tamanini.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, David R. Grant; children, Larry Grant, Mrs. Mike (Barbara) Yancey, Dennis Grant, Mrs. Robin (Pamela) Damm, Billy Grant and Mrs. Tim (Mary) Hays, all of Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Dennis (Linda) Collins, Fordsville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Tamanini, Reading, and George Tamanini, Nanticoke; and sisters, Irene Joyner, Hazleton; Ellen Moratelli, Vineland, N.J., and Pauline Tamanini, Glenn Dale, Md. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, Ind., with continued services at 10:30 a.m. in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Traylor officiating. Burial will take place in Locust Hill cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Vivian E. Hollick
Vivian E. Hollick, 91, a former Freeland resident and a guest at St. Luke Pavilion, Hazleton, died late Friday evening at the Greater Hazleton Health Alliance, Church Street Campus.
She was the owner/operator of the Vivian E. Hollick Beauty Salon, Freeland.
Born in Fitchburg, Mass., she resided in the Freeland area most of her life, enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Berwick Country Club.
Surviving are her husband, John Hollick; sons, John, Massachusetts, and Raymond T., Allentown; a brother, Onni Sironen, Rhode Island; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at the convenience of the family.
The McNulty Funeral Home, 407 Centre St., Freeland, is in charge of the arrangements.

Dr. Dorothy A. Humpf
Dr. Dorothy Ann Humpf, 42, of 1502 Chickees St., Johnson City, Tenn., died Nov. 1 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.
A native of Sellersville, she was the daughter of Greg J. and Ruth Ann Mitchell Humpf of Frackville.
She was a graduate of Penn State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in anthropology in May 1982, her master’s degree in anthropology in August 1984, and a dual Ph.D. in anthropology and demography in May 1995.
She was employed by the State Historic Preservation Office in Harrisburg from 1990-95, and was later employed as cultural resources manager at Fort Campbell, Ky., from 1995-99.
Dr. Humpf was a member of the Society for American Archeologists, Eastern Archeological Conference, Tennessee Council of Professional Archeologists, Cumberland River Archeological Society, Tennessee River Archeological Society, and Kentucky Organization of Professional Archeologists. Upon moving to Johnson City, she taught at East Tennessee State University as assistant professor of anthropology.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Robert E. Dietz, at home; a sister, Carol A. Bruno, Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers, David A. Humpf, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and Patrick J. Humpf, Albuquerque, N.M., and several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Nov. 16 at Stout Hall, Lake Street on the campus of East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tenn.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Dorothy Humpf Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of ETSU Foundation, P.O. Box 70732, Johnson City, TN 37614.

Julia B. Kalyan
Julia B. Kalyan, 88, a registered nurse and a resident of Wright Township, died Friday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
A resident of Mountaintop since 1953, she was a member of St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church and numerous church groups for 49 years. In addition, she was a member of Holy Annunciation Discalced Carmelite Secular Order Community of Sugarloaf and was a foster grandparent at the White Haven Center for 18 years.
Born in Hazleton, Feb. 13, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Kapes) Lucash.
She received her training and a degree in nursing at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, Del., and attended Seton Hall University, East Orange, N.J.
A naval veteran of World War II, she served with the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), stationed at the naval hospital in Oakland, Calif.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, John E. Kalyan; sisters, Mary and Helen Lucash and Margaret Stevens, and brothers, Frank and Stephen Lucash.
Surviving are her daughters, Sister Jan Marie, at home, and Anita Marie Kalyan, Rockaway, N.J.; sons, John Eugene Kalyan, Warwick, N.Y., and John Frederick Kalyan, Fairfax, Va.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the McCune Funeral Home Inc., 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountaintop, followed by a funeral Mass, to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Jude’s R.C. Church.
Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Calvary cemetery, Drums.
Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 and Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the services.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dialysis Patient Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, 433 Main St., Mayfield, Pa. 18433; or IHM Retirement Fund, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton, Pa. 18509.

Ruth M. Stone, 90, of 2038 Walnut Street Ashland. passed away Sunday, June 3rd, 2007 at her residence in Ashland.
Born in Mt. Carmel, PA April 21, 1917 she was the daughter of the late William and Mary ( Schumacher ) Bensinger. She was a member of the First United Methodist
Presbyterian Church in Ashland. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Ashland Chapter She was preceded in death by her husband Ben m. Stone in 2003.
Preceding her in death were two brothers: Bill & Harry Bensinger.
Surviving are two daughters: Elaine Stone, of Ashland, PA and
Sylvia wife of Jerry Baum, of Forty Fort, PA.
Two granddaughters survive; Karen and Cindy Baum.
Nieces & Nephews survive
Funeral Services will be held from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 6th, with Rev. Dr. Eldrich C. Campbell officiating.
Interment at Mt. Carmel cemetery, Mt. Carmel, PA.
Visitation Tuesday evening 6:00-8:00 PM from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home and Wednesday 10:00-11:00 AM from the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Presbyterian Church, North 9th Street, Ashland, PA 17921.
