FREEMAN L. HORCHLER
SALISBURY, Pa. - Freeman L. Horchler, 84, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Meyersdale Medical Center.

Born Dec. 12, 1914, in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Baum) Horchler. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Livengood.

Surviving are his wife, the former Thelma L. Klink; one brother, Clark B. Horchler, Millersburg; four sisters, Maythorne Brenaman, Grantsville, Md., Mary Keiffer, Harrisburg, Hazel Beever, York, and Ruth Haning, Woodstock, Ill.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Mr. Horchler was a retired farmer and was a member of the Saint John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury.

Friends will be received at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted there Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Ray Brown officiating.

Interment will be at the Salisbury cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Saint John's United Church of Christ, Ord Street, Salisbury, PA 15558.

MARTHA W. JORDAN
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Martha Willard (Athey) Jordan, 86, previously of Hyndman, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at the St. Vincent DePaul Nursing Home, Frostburg, Md.

Born July 11, 1912, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Timothy Taylor and Eva (Hawkins) Athey. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew Jordan Sr.; two sisters, twin, Mary Crosby and Blanche Festerman; and two brothers, F. Les Sterry and Richard Sterry.

Surviving are one son, William Andrew Jordan Jr., Seffner, Fla.; one brother, Tim Taylor Athey, Winchester, Va.; and one sister, Annie Stevenson, Frostburg.

Mrs. Jordan, owner/operator of Martha's Beauty Shop, Hyndman, for 25 years, was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Thursday, Dec. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, Dec. 17 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Johnson officiating.

Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery.

ANDREW KRAFT
YORK, Pa. - Andrew Kraft, 84, of 2565 Midpine Drive, York, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in York.

Born Dec. 17, 1914, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late George A. and Edna Fisher Kraft.

He also was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Malloy Kraft who died in Dec., 1984, and one brother, George Kraft.

Mr. Kraft was the retired owner and president of Pen Mar Paint and Supply Company, Parkway Blvd., York, for over 50 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served on the Destroyer USS Simms. He was a member of the Lafayette Club of York, a 27-year member of the Elk's Lodge #213, York, a 55-year member of the American Legion Post #0127, York, AARP, and Slumbering Ground Hog Lodge, York.

Surviving are one son, Dr. George A. Kraft, D.D.S., York; one daughter, Sheila M. Borsa, York; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Road, York, on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Services will be conducted there on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Helen Pinder officiating.

Burial will be in the Holy Saviour cemetery, Manchester Twp., York, with full military honors rendered by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may directed to the York VNA Hospice or the York Catholic High School.

GERTRUDE A. HOWSARE
BEDFORD, Pa. - Gertrude Alice Howsare, 87, of RFD #3, Bedford, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 19, 1911, in Ketterman, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late David Kimble and the late Amanda E. (Landis) Kimble. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Howsare; a sister, Goldie P. Kimble; and a brother, Denver D. Kimble.

Mrs. Howsare was a former employee of the Celanese Corporation, and she was retired from Lion Manufacturing Company in Everett. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Bedford Valley. She was former secretary of the United Methodist Women of the Church and the Senior Citizens, Cumberland Valley. Mrs. Howsare was also a former American Heart Association volunteer for 10 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Ann Gillum and husband, Charles, LaVale, Md.; two sisters, Bernice V. Wilson, Bedford, Arvella J. Carpenter, Youngstown, Ohio; three brothers, Vernon H. Kimble and wife, Evelyn, Pulaski, Herbert C. Kimble and wife, Deloris, Johnstown, and Earl W. Kimble and wife, Joyce, RFD 4, Bedford; four grandchildren, Cynthia R. Gillum, LaVale, Charles Kevin Gillum, Corpus Christi, Texas, Carolyn Ann Butler, Piedmont, W.Va., and William Keith Gillum, Cumberland; five great-grandchildren, Melissa, Mathew, Jaime and Ellie Gillum, and Travis Butler; four step great-grandchildren, Richard Jr., Robert, Rene and Ryan Butler; and one step great-great-grandchild, Richard Butler III.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with Pastor Mickey Stephens officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Kevin and Keith Gillum, Richard Butler Sr., Richard Butler Jr., Robert Butler and David Kimble. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Butler and Donald Hedrick.

EARL E. HUMBERTSON
PURCELLVILLE, Va. -Earl E. Humbertson, 78, of Purcellville, died Sunday, March 28, 1999, in Virginia following hip surgery.

Born on April 25, 1920, at Elk Lick, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles F. and Barbara (Eichorn) Humbertson. He lived most of his life in Allegany County.

He married Elsie (Vinci) in 1942, served during World War II in the China-Burma-India Theater and was the father of four children. He retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company after 33 years of service. He was also a school bus driver for several years. He was a member of the Dawson Methodist Church. In 1981, he moved to Florida and worked at Sears Roebuck for eight years. His wife of 52 years died in 1994. He spent the last few years living in Florida and Virginia with his children.

He is survived by brothers, James E. Humbertson of Cleveland, Tenn., Kenneth R. Humbertson of Dawson, Md., his children, Donald E. Humbertson of Osprey, Fla., Sami M. Sharkey of Purcellville, Va., Linda L. Humbertson of Beltsville, Md., and William C. Humbertson of Purcecllville, Va., six grandchildren, Mia Bowden, Mica Greico, Cristina Humbertson, Josefina Humbertson, Alex Humbertson and Meghan Sharkey, two great-grandchildren, his daughter-in-law, Maria (Chuy) Humertson and son-in-law John J. Sharkey.

The family will receive friends at Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Tuesday, March 30, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Chapel on Wednesday, March 31, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Laurel Hill cemetery, Moscow Mills, Md. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

DORIS C. KRAISS
WYCOMBE, Pa. - Doris C. (Hare) Kraiss, of Wycombe, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, Pa.

Born in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Walter Hare and the late Anna Margaret Hare.

She was the wife of the late Paul J. Kraiss.

She is survived by her children, James Paul, Chambersburg, Pa., Stephen, Wycombe, Sharon Doolittle, Millersville, Pa., Jennifer Sterling, Wagoner, Okla.; a stepson, Frederick Kraiss, Chambersburg; two sisters, Lucille Bowser, New Enterprise, Pa., Dr. Beverly Williams, Cumberland, Md.; and five grandchildren.

She was also the sister of the late Janet True, Cumberland.

Mrs. Kraiss worked as a secretary for Specialty Products for more than 10 years. She was also very active with Lingohocken Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 28, 1999, at Wrightstown Friends cemetery. Services were private.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Lingohocken Fire Company, P.O. Box 102, Wycombe, PA 18980.
