ROYCE E. DAWSON
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Royce Edward Dawson, 43, of Church Street, Hyndman, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born May 15, 1954, at Cumberland, he was a son of Mary E. (Hite) Platt, of Germantown, Md., and the late William E. Dawson.

Mr. Dawson served a tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Germany, where he was disabled while in service. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the National Rifle Association.

Surviving in addition to his mother are a brother, Charles W. Dawson, Reading; three sisters, Mary L. Yanik, Alto Loma, Calif., Barbara J. Perry, Grantsville, Md., and Kristy R. Small, Germantown; and paternal grandmother, Elsie Dawson, RD 1, Buffalo Mills.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Harry Ryan and the Rev. Arthur Leaker officiating.

Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery.

CAROLYN R. FULLER
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Carolyn Robinson Fuller, 72, of 806 Westminster Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at her home.
Born Jan. 26, 1925, at Smithfield, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lester and Helen Robinson.

Mrs. Fuller met her husband, Robert Fuller, at Allegany High School, Cumberland, Md. She was a resident of Greensboro since 1967. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she was active as a youth counselor. She was an ophthalmic technician with training at Suburban General Hospital, Pittsburgh, the University of Michigan, and John Hopkins. She retired from Shapiro Eyecare. She was a volunteer literacy tutor.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Robert Fuller, of the home; three daughters, Linda Hagemeyer and husband Richard, Charlotte, Celia Shown and husband Thomas, Raleigh, and Robin Foust and husband James, Moseley, Va.; one son, Robert Fuller and wife Vicki, Hopewell, N.J.; one brother, Lester Robinson and wife Betty, Chandler, Ariz.; one sister, Lelia Brown, Perry Hall, Md.; and nine grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the home on Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church following the service.

A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, Greensboro, on Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, at 2 p.m.

A private inurnment will be at Westminster Gardens Chapel Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 410 N. Holden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410, or Hospice at Greensboro, 2500 Summitt Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.

Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel is serving the family.

HAROLD E. AUBER
SOMERSET, Pa. - Harold E. Auber, 88, formerly of the John F. Kennedy Homes, North Mechanic Street, Cumberland, and West Church Street, Somerset, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at the Somerset Hospital. He had been a patient at Patriot Manor Nursing Home. Born Nov. 27, 1909, at Mannington, W.Va., he was the son of the late Leonard Auber and Elizabeth (Pebler) Auber. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Shirley) Auber.
Mr. Auber retired as a sales representative for Wally's Electrical Supply Company with 12 years of service; he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Somerset; and he was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Cumberland.

He is survived by his widow, E. Virginia (O'Brien) Auber; one son, R. Stuart Auber, Curwensville, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

At Mr. Auber's request, his body was cremated.

Memorial services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 320 Felgar Rd., Somerset, on Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Charles F. Olson officiating.

Private interment will be held at Stone Church Presbyterian cemetery, Wheeling, W.Va.

The family has requested that donations take the form of contributions to the Grace United Methodist Church, Somerset.

The Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.

MARY E. BURKETT
STOYSTOWN, Pa. - Mary E. Burkett, 82, of Berlin, formerly of Stoystown R.D. 2, (Wilbur), died Dec. 21, 1997, in Brothersvalley Township at the residence of her former daughter-in-law, JoAnn Burkett.
She was born Feb. 16, 1915, in Fairhope, Pa., she was the daughter of John and Lottie F. (Purdue) Redhead. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John C.; sisters, Florence Long, Elma Smith, and Dorothy Huff; and brothers George and Melvin Redhead.

She is survived by sons Richard and Don, both of Wilbur; granddaughter, Barbara, married to Phil Hautz; great-granddaughters, Brittany and Victoria Hautz, all of Stoystown. She was the sister of Hazel Reckley, and Arthur and John Redhead, all of Cumberland.

She was retired from the Somerset Pajama Factory. She attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Wilbur.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, Pa., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Robert G. Doyle officiating. Interment will be in Otterbein cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Somerset "In-Touch" Hospice, 651 South Center, Somerset, PA 15501.

WILLIAM J. DARROW
EVERGREEN, Colo. - William J. "Bill" Darrow, 71, of Evergreen, formerly a resident of Cumberland, Md., died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, at his home in Evergreen.
Mr. Darrow was born March 6, 1926, in Wilkinsburg, Pa. He was married to Elizabeth M. (McDonough) Darrow on July 14, 1951, in Cumberland.

Mr. Darrow was a U.S. Navy veteran serving as a Fireman 2c on the USS Alabama during World War II. He received his bachelor of arts degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, Md., and his law degree at the University of Maryland, School of Law, Baltimore. He practiced law with the State of Maryland Court of Appeals, United States Supreme Court, and United States Claims Court.

Mr. Darrow started his Civil Service career as a Trial Attorney, Office of Quartermaster General, Department of the Army, Washington, D.C. He ended his Civil Service career in 1981 as Regional Counsel, General Services Administration, Denver. Since retiring from federal service in 1981, he engaged in instructing and lecturing in various seminars conducted for both government and contractor personnel.

In addition to his wife, surviving are one son, W. Scott Darrow and wife Sara, Denver; three daughters, Susan M. Converse and husband Rick, Lakewood, Lynn D. Miller and husband Alan, Bogota, Columbia, South America, and Leslie A. Darrow, Evergreen; and three granddaughters, Emily L. Converse, Lakewood, Rachel E. Converse, Lakewood, and Hannah E. Darrow, Denver.

Services were held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Evergreen, on Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at 10:30 a.m.

Interment was in Mount Olivet, Wheat Ridge.

The family requests memorial contributions may be made to Dominican Sister Home Health, 2501 Gaylord St., Denver, CO 80205.

Horan & McConaty Funeral Service, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colo., was in charge of the arrangements.

A. CATHERINE BECHERER
DUBOIS, Pa. - Anne Catherine Becherer, 71, of 111 Olive Ave., Dubois, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, at Dubois Regional Medical Center West.
Born April 8, 1926, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of Aloysuis I. Smith and Lillian A. (Diggs) Smith. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Robert A. Smith.

Mrs. Becherer was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing and her flower garden, and was a member of St. Catherine's, Siena Parish.

Surviving are her husband, Frank Herbert Becherer; two daughters, Lynne Ann Weygandt, Vero Beach, Fla., and Susan Margaret Weber, Sykesville; one son, Frank M. Becherer III; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary A. Engelbach, N. Myrtle Beach, Fla., and Helene V. Blake, Cumberland, Md.

Friends will be received at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Monsignor Henry L. Krebs, VF, and the Rev. A.W. Wilson officiating.

A scriptural wake service will be held at the funeral chapel on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Interment will be in Morningside cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Asthma Foundation.
