DAVID H. COOK
HYNDMAN, Pa. - David H. Cook, 62, of RD 1, Hyndman, died Saturday, March 8, 1997, at his residence.
Born March 4, 1935, at Hyndman, he was a son of the late William D. and Jessie R. (Jordan) Cook. He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Shipley; a brother, George Cook; and a sister, Mary Dennison.

Surviving are three daughters, Rita M. Hoy, Cumberland, Beverly A. Shipley and husband Richard, RD 1, Buffalo Mills, and Kimberly L. Cook, Carnegie; two grandchildren, Richard D. Shipley and Jeannette M. Hoy; a brother, Arthur Hook, Oldtown, Md.; and a sister, Helen Wiggins, Jacksonville, Fla.

Mr. Cook was a retired construction worker and truck driver. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was a member of Bible Gospel Church of Hyndman; Hyndman Campground Association; Hyndman VFW Oscar Jordan Post 7375; Cumberland American Legion Post 13; Kennells Mills Sportsmans Club; and Barrelville Outdoor Club.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Services will be conducted at the Bible Gospel Church, Hyndman, on Tuesday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Fay E. Leydig officiating.

Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

DORTHARENE B. COOK
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Dortharene B. Cook, 82, of R.D. 1, Hyndman, died Monday, March 31, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born February 9, 1915, in Londonderry Township, Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Carl S. and Nina R. (Clites) Bohn. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce C. Cook, on November 29, 1956.

Mrs. Cook was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are a son, Roger B. Cook and wife Ruth, Toronto, Canada; a daughter, Myrna J. Lowery and husband Donald, Ellerslie; four grandchildren, Angela Cook and Jason Cook of Mesa, Ariz., Jeffrey Lowery, Woodbridge, Va. and Steven Lowery, Omaha, Neb.; and four stepgrandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Rebecca J. Vardiman officiating.

Interment will be in Cooks Mills cemetery.

LEOLA P. CLAYTON
CLEARVILLE, Pa. - Leola P. Clayton, 80, of Route 3, Box 158, Clearville, died Friday, Dec. 26, 1997, at Bedford County Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 14, 1917, in Romney, she was the daughter of the late Maurice Franklin High and Anna D. (Raines) High. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Sterley G. Clayton Sr., on May 21, 1995; two sons, Sterley G. Clayton Jr., in November 1990, and Thomas Theodore "Teddy" Clayton, in 1965.

Mrs. Clayton was a member of the Prosperity United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one son, Dale A. Clayton and wife Carrie, Everett, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

LEROY H. HOSSELRODE
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Leroy Harry Hosselrode, 67, of Half Moon Bay, Calif., formerly of RD 1, Hyndman, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997, at Pacifica, Calif.
Born June 29, 1930, in Wellersburg, he was the son of the late Harry R. Hosselrode and Mary (Smith) Mason.

Surviving are one sister, Dolores H. Lowery, Alexandria, Va.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at the Cooks Mills cemetery, RD 1, Hyndman, on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Roger A. Johnson officiating.

The Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, Pa. Affiliate, 2040 Linglestown Road, Suite 106, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

HELEN E. EDWARDS
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Helen Elizabeth Edwards, 81, of Hyndman, formerly of Ellerslie, Md., died Wednesday, July 23, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born September 10, 1915, in Frostburg, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Barbara (College) Wilkins. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Edwards, on October 17, 1989.

Surviving are two sons, Dale L. Crabtree and wife Doris, Corriganville, and Roger H. Edwards and wife Deborah, Atwater, Ohio; two daughters, Shirley A. Smith and husband Lee, R.D. 1, Buffalo Mills, and Brenda L. Smith and husband Joseph, Union City; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margurite Osborn, Jonesborough, Tenn.

Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and had attended the Bible Gospel Church, Hyndman.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fay E. Leydig and the Rev. Danny W. Newman officiating.

Interment will be in Lybarger cemetery.

Grandsons Dale E. Crabtree, Roger J. Edwards, Jason R. Smith, Brian L. Smith, Thomas W. Logsdon, Bobby C. Deneen, G. Vernon Ringer, and Mike F. Bennett will serve as pallbearers.

JOHN I. CLARK
COOKS MILLS, Pa. - John Isaac Clark, 77, of Cooks Mills, R.D. 1, Hyndman, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997, at Donahue Manor Nursing Home, Bedford.
Born Jan. 24, 1920, at Cooks Mills, he was a son of the late George E. and Elenora (Stouffer) Clark. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara L. Clark; and a brother, James O. "Pete" Clark.

Mr. Clark retired as a machinist for the Celanese Corporation of America in Cumberland, Md. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in North Africa and Europe during World War II. He attended Cooks Mills United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine M. (Speelman) Clark; a step-son, Gary S. Moore and wife Patricia, Springfield, Ill., and a sister, Anna Lee Stair and husband Jerry, Cooks Mills.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Julie L. Applegate officiating.

Interment will be in Porter cemetery near Ellerslie.

Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

NANCY B. CHRISTNER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Nancy Belle Christner, 92, of 4th Avenue, Hyndman, died Sunday, July 20, 1997, at the home of her daughter, Sara Ann Campbell, Hyndman.
Born April 13, 1905, in Ellerslie, Md., she was the daughter of the late David E. and Annie E. (Dunlap) Horner. She also was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd E. Christner, Sr., on Nov. 3, 1965; two brothers, Albert and William Horner; and one sister, Mary Dibert.

Mrs. Christner was a member of the 1st Avenue United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Annie Horner Bible Class. She also was a member of the Hyndman Senior Citizens and the former Rebekah Lodge of Hyndman.

Surviving are two daughters, Clara Jeanne Himes and husband Roy, Pittsfield, Mass., and Sara Ann Campbell and husband Glenn, Hyndman; two sons, Lloyd E. Christner Jr. and wife Patricia, Hyndman, RD 1, and William L. Christner and wife Lee, Gold Vein, Va.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sara E. Elliott, Hyndman.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Julie L. Applegate and the Pastor David A. Klink officiating.

Interment will be in the Madley cemetery.
