ROBERT C. RITCHEY
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Robert Clem Ritchey, 71, of Second Avenue, Hyndman, died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 24, 1926, at Hyndman, he was a son of the late Blair W. and Laura B. (Kennedy) Ritchey. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie S. (Boyer) Ritchey, on Aug. 3, 1993; two brothers, William B. and Jack E. Ritchey; and three sisters, Mary E. Smith, Ruth V. Crabtree, and Lena M. Sisler.

Surviving are two sons, Robert L. Ritchey and wife, Karen, R.D. 1, Hyndman, and Robert W. Ritchey, Fairhope, Pa.; five daughters, Karen A. Hyson and husband, Terry, Deborah J. Dennison and husband, John, and Sharon L. Imler, all of Hyndman, Janet L. Baughman and husband, Wayne, Meyersdale, Pa., and Susan K. Parsons and husband, Frank, Cumberland; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, John I. Ritchey, Canton, Ohio, and Donald C. Ritchey, Hyndman; and five sisters, Ethel M. Waltman, Pearl C. Miller, N. Audrey Sisk, and Erma Jean Conner, all of Hyndman, and Maude L. Hordubay, R.D. 1, Manns Choice, Pa.

Mr. Ritchey retired with 35 years of employment as a construction laborer for Hazelwood Construction Company and George Construction Company, and was a member of the Laborers International Union Local 616 in Cumberland.

He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

Mr. Ritchey was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, Ellerslie, the Hyndman V.F.W. Oscar Jordan Post 7375, the Hyndman Rod and Gun Club, the Kennells Mills Sportsman's Club, and the New Baltimore Rod and Gun Club.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating. Interment will be in Hyndman cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Hyndman Area Rescue Squad, Hyndman, PA 15545.

RITA E. RINGLER
WEST SALISBURY, Pa. - Rita E. Ringler, 74, of Grantsville, Md., formerly of West Salisbury, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at the home of her daughter in Grantsville.
Born Dec. 31, 1922, in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Ethel (Dyke) Riley. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel and David Ringler.

Mrs. Ringler retired as the postmaster of West Salisbury. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, West Salisbury.

Surviving are two daughters, Geraldine Miller and husband Larry G., Grantsville, and Anne Scarpelli and husband Jerry, Frostburg, Md.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, James D. Riley, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and one sister, Marcella Eastlick, Ford City.

Friends will be received at the Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, West Salisbury, on Friday at 10 a.m. with Father Bernard White as celebrant.

Interment with be in the church cemetery.

WILBUR G. RINGER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Wilbur George Ringer, 91, of Hyndman, died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997, at the Meyersdale Medical Center.
Born March 10, 1906, in Rockwood, he was a son of the late Jacob and Annie (Knopsnyder) Ringer. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred E. (Shaffer) Ringer, on Nov. 11, 1975; a daughter, Jeannine Laing; and a brother, Floyd Ringer.

Surviving are three daughters, Lois A. Bagley and husband Fred, LaVale, Md., Lana L. Thompson and husband Edward, Wellersburg, and Teresa L. Ringer, Confluence; three grandchildren, Vicki Shaffer, Calif., Rodney Bagley, Pullman, Wash., and Tracey Smith, Meyersdale; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Ringer, Hyndman; and a sister, Myrtle Hitzelberger, Libertytown, Md.

Mr. Ringer retired from the Amcelle Plant, Celanese Corporation of America, Cumberland, Md., where he was employed as a painter. He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, Ellerslie, Md., and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

There will be no visitation.

Services will be conducted at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating.

Interment will be in the IOOF cemetery, Rockwood.

Memorials may be sent to the Calvary Bible Church, Ellerslie, MD 21529.

DONALD O. SMITH
ARTEMAS, Pa. - Donald O. Smith, 67, of RD 1, Artemas, died Thursday, April 3, 1997, in Union Township, Fulton County, as results from a farming accident.
Born Jan. 17, 1930, in Union Township, Fulton County, he was a son of the late W. Ralph and Clara E. (Roberts) Smith. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Grant; and an infant sister, Doris.

Mr. Smith was of the Protestant faith. He was a former employee of the Dixie Stave Co. of Artemas, and retired as Union Township Supervisor, where he was employed from 1978 to 1996. He was currently serving as caretaker at the Fairview cemetery. He was a 1948 graduate of Warfordsburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, and was a member of American Legion William McKinley Smith Post, Artemas.

Surviving are a son, Donald James Smith, RD 1, Artemas; stepdaughter, Linda Lou Roberts, Hancock, Md.; brothers and sisters, Mary Smith and husband James, Transfer, Pauline Mearkle and husband Ivan, RD 2, Clearville, Wayne A. Smith and wife Hilda (Shipley), Fort Loudon, Betty Rice and husband William, RD 2, Clearville, Richard G. Smith and wife Catherine (Medlin), RD 2, Clearville, George E. Smith and wife Shirley Jane (Stokes), Flintstone, Norma Jean Mabry and husband Donald, Greenville, Calvin L. Smith and wife Charlene (Covert), RD 1, Artemas, and Edna Fisher and husband Arthur, Fort Loudon; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Friends may call at the Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, on Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the services on Sunday.

Services will be held at the Fairview Christian Church on Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Merle Horton officiating.

Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery. Full military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post of Artemas.

If friends so desire, contributions may be made to the Fairview cemetery Association, c/o Helen Jay, RD 1, Artemas, PA 17211.

MILDRED M. SOURBRINE
LARGO, Fla. - Mildred M. Sourbrine, 92, of Largo, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died, Thursday, July 31, 1997, at home.
Mrs. Sourbrine was born in Bedford Valley, Pa., and lived in Cumberland, Md., in the 1940s. She worked in shoe sales at the Peskin's Shoe Store, Cumberland.

Surviving are one brother, Leo Hite, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

LAVERE V. STERNER, SR.
SARASOTA, Fla. - Lavere V. Sterner Sr., 3208 Woodmont Drive, Sarasota, died June 14, 1997.
He was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Spring Grove, Pa., and moved to Sarasota 14 years ago from Cumberland.

He was a superintendent of contracts for Hercules Inc., Rocket Center, W.Va., which is now Alliant Techsystems Inc. He graduated from the University of Arizona and from York, Pa., Junior College. He was a life member of the University of Arizona Alumni Association, a member of the American Diabetes Association and Faith Lutheran Church. He was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, LaVale. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia A. Sterner; three daughters, Abbie J. Agresto, Frackville, Pa., Beth A. Paxton, Conway, Ark., and Rebecca L. Ferguson, Sarasota; a son, Lavere V. Sterner Jr., of Sarasota; a sister, Margeurite Shouck, York, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Faith Lutheran Church, Sarasota. The Sarasota Chapter of the National Cremation Society was in charge of arrangements.

JOSEPH E. STULTZ
EVERETT, Pa. - Joseph E. Stultz, 72, of RD 1, Everett, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at Memorial Hospital of Bedford County.
Born June 16, 1924, in New Paris, he was the son of the late William and Mary Olive (Barefoot) Stultz. He also was preceded in death by a son, Gregory, in 1974; two brothers, William and James; and three sisters, LaVerne Arnold, Agnes McCallion and Ada Blattenberger.

Mr. Stultz was co-owner and driver of Bollman Charter Service of Everett. Previously he was a truck driver for 21 years, largely with Continental Transportation.

He was affiliated with the Everett Church of God. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 524, Everett; Harrisburg Consistory; Jaffa Temple of Altoona; and Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Everett.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie B. (Bollman) Stultz, whom he married on Jan. 19, 1949; daughter, Sheri Greenawalt, RD 1, Bedford; son Jeffrey and wife the former Jeanie Howsare, Everett, RD 1; daughter, Lisa Arnold, RD 1, Buffalo Mills; son, Joseph, Indiana; brother, Robert, Schellsburg, RD 1; sister, Ruthanna Fix, Bedford, RD 5; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Everett Church of God on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Kisner officiating.

There will be additional visitation at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the service time. Burial will be in the Ritchey cemetery, Everett, RD 1.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
