She was the wife of William J. Burkus; mother of Daniel Burkus of South Korea, William E. (Patricia) Burkus of White Oak and Judith (Dennis) Lee of Bethel Park; grandmother of Shari, Kenny and Ryan Lee; sister of Anne DiFebo and the late Mary Szeszak, Joseph and Andrew Kazar.
Friends were received at the Cieslak & Tatko Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Wendelin Church, Carrick.

Edna M. Fiedler, 77, of Brentwood, died Oct. 15, 2008.
She was the wife of 57 years to Al Fiedler; mother of Elaine M. (Bob) Knezovich of Cranberry and Susan B. Fiedler of Brentwood; grandmother of Lauren and Stephen; and sister of the late Bob (Eleanor) Hodnick and Leona (Jerry) Unites.

Florence (Rachuba) Stupak, 92, of Brentwood, died Oct. 18, 2008.
She was the wife of 50 years to the late Chester W. Stupak; mother of Bob Stupak, Nancy (Bob) O'Connor, and Linda (Micky) Phillips; grandmother of Nicole, Michael, David, Neveda, Jim, Casey, Summer, Greg and Kellie; great-grandmother of Declan, Rory, Addie and Regan; sister of the late Helen Bykowski, Walter and Edward Rachuba.
Friends were received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Sylvester Church.
Kathryn Evans

Kathryn A. (Hillebrecht) Evans of Overbrook, died Oct. 17, 2008.
Mrs. Evans was a longtime member of the Fairhaven United Methodist Church and choir, and the Overbrook Women's Club. She was an employee of PPG Industries.
She was the wife of the late James W. Evans; special friend of Robert Friday; stepmother of James W. (Linda) Evans Jr. and Dolores Musulin; sister of Nancy (Jim) Carraway, Sandy (Lou) Caley, William (Margaret) Hillebrecht, Linda (John) Wallace, Sally (Bob) Jacobson, Judith (Don) Kargle, Peggy (Bob) Wahl, Lucy (Dave) Husser, Daniel (Anita) Hillebrecht and the late Dolores (David) King.
She also is survived by her grandchildren, Nadiene Feldman, Sharon Matrazzo, Chrisie Musulin, Valerie Cerminara, Steven Musulin, Wendy Evans and Amy Pennell; 10 great-grandmother; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Lucy Hillebrecht.
Friends were received at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., Pleasant Hills, where a service was held. Interment was in Jefferson Memorial Park.
Michael Macklen

Michael L. Macklen Jr., 76, formerly of Carrick died Oct. 20, 2008.
He was a retired City of Pittsburgh Police Officer and a Korean War veteran.
Mr. Macklen was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Fort Pitt Lodge 1, American Legion Post 710 and VFW Post 6675, and served as Allegheny County American Legion Commander and vice president of the Pittsburgh Veteran Police Association.
Mr. Macklen was the husband of Shirley Miller Macklen; father of Michael L. (Denise) Macklen III, Marilyn (Ed) Planinsek, Susan Speicher, Kevin Macklen, Wayne (Rea) Macklen, Richard (Rebecca) Macklen, and Lori (Mike) Dohar; stepfather of Barbara (Chuck) Samstag, Linda (Joe) Cisar and James (Sherri) Miller Jr.; grandfather of 23 and great-grandfather of two; brother of Joy Weber and Joan (Louis) Bott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael L. Macklen Sr. and Loretta Macklen; and a brother, Donald Macklen.

Hilda Buechel Johnson (Logan) Peth, 84, of Overbrook, died Oct. 19, 2008.
She was the wife of James F. Peth and the late Irvin and Melvin; mother of Jackie (Jeff) Freund and Lea Ann (Tim) Pitschke; sister of the late Harry, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Tressa, Margaret and Grace; and grandmother of Christopher, Jeffrey, Timothy and Melanie.

Ronald Boyle, 73, of Pleasant Hills, formerly of Baldwin died Saturday, July 5, 2008.
He was the husband of Evelyn Boyle of 47 years; father of Louis (Amy) Boyle of North Hills; Ronald (Sheila) Boyle of Addison, Maine, and Susan (Larry) Wydrenski of North Hills.
Mr. Boyle was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1954 to 1956; and a 22-year member of the Baldwin Whitehall-School Board, holding the position of president for 13 years.
He was vice president of the Whitehall AARP No. 2050, a past member of the Baldwin Zoning Hearing Board, and a former member of the St. Albert the Great Parish Council and Pre-Marriage Program. Arrangements handled by John F. Slater Funeral Home.

Mary Jane Piccolo, 78, of Baldwin Borough died Wednesday, July 2, 2008.
She was the mother of Joseph Piccolo; sister of Paul Kubis, Andrew Kubis, Helen Liker, Anna Hackinson, Mildred Lenik, Evelyn Exler and the late John Kubis, Susan McGuire and Margaret Roberts.

Dorothy Simon, 87, of Whitehall, formerly of Easton, Pa., died July 3, 2008.
She is the wife of the late William Simon and Anthony Loiacono; mother of Kathleen Elborne, Bonnie (Chuck) Bursich and Susan Depe; grandmother of Gregory, Brian, Emily, Michael, Jonathan, Sammy and Alexis; great-grandmother of Gregory, Samantha, Anthony and Jonathan; also survived by her loving cat Simba.

Kenneth Leslie, 93, formerly of Whitehall, died June 29, 2008, at Friendship Village of South Hills, Upper St. Clair.
He was the husband of the late Genevieve (Steele) Leslie; father of Karen (Rick) Karlowsky; grandfather of Nicholas (Melinda), Matthew (Tiffanie Ritenour) and Gregory Karlowsky; brother of Mark (the late Jessie) Leslie. Mr. Leslie was the founder and owner of Kenneth P. Leslie Opticians in Whitehall, was a 50-year member of the Masons in Pleasant Hills, Guthrie Lodge 759 and was a member of both the Baldwin Community Methodist Church and the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church.
