BERTHA SYPEK - Cumberland

BERTHA SYPEK, 93, of Grandview Nursing Home, and formerly of Pawtucket, a retired inspector, died Sunday in the nursing home.

She was the wife of the late Stanley Sypek. Born in Poland, a daughter of the late Paul and Karolina (Spiewak) Trzuskowski, she had lived in Pawtucket before moving to the nursing home.

Mrs. Sypek was an inspector at the former Standard Romper, in Central Falls, before her retirement.

She leaves two sons, Theodore W. Sypek of Smithfield and Stanley Sypek of Attleboro; a sister, Ann St. Andre in California; a brother, William Truskowski of Cumberland; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Joseph Truszkowski.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home, 342 High St., Central Falls, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Joseph Church, 391 High St., Central Falls. Burial will be in Notre Dame cemetery, Pawtucket.

MICHAEL J. NICOLELLA SR. - Cranston

MICHAEL J. NICOLELLA SR., 86, of Cra-Mar Nursing Home, a retired jeweler, died yesterday in Kent County Memorial Hospital, Warwick. He was the husband of Helene Nicolella. Born in Bristol, he was a son of the late Domenico and Maria (DiMezza) Nicolella.

Mr. Nicolella was a jeweler at the Kilnic Co., before retiring.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Domenic Nicolella of Cranston and Michael J. Nicolella Jr. of Warwick; a daughter, Maria-Teresa Nicolella in Italy; three sisters, Angelina Fasano and Viola Desrosiers, both of Johnston, and Louise Prudente of Cranston; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 8 a.m. from Woodlawn, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Rocco Church, Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery, Pawtucket.

ROSE J. SANTOSUOSSO - Cranston

ROSE J. SANTOSUOSSO, 87, of Scituate Avenue, died Sunday at Cedar Crest Nursing Home.

She was the wife of the late Raphael Santosuosso. Born in Johnston, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Cecelia (Gesmondi) Iannelli, she lived most of her life in Cranston.

ALBERT J. NOTA JR. - Cranston

ALBERT J. NOTA JR., 40, of Deborah Way, an automotive technician, died unexpectedly on Sunday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.

He was the husband of Lori-Ann (Iervolino) Nota. Born in Providence, a son of Albert J. Nota Sr. and Jean (Lepre) Nota, both of Providence, he lived in Cranston for the last seven years. Mr. Nota was a lead technician at Tasca Lincoln Mercury for the last 16 years. He was a member of the HBPA.

Besides his wife and parents, he leaves a son, Albert J. Nota III, and a daughter, Nicole M. Nota, both at home; a sister, Donna M. Barrows of Seekonk; two brothers, Kenneth J. Nota of Scituate and Michael A. Nota of Cranston; and his paternal grandmother, Anna Nota of Providence.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Nardolillo Funeral Home, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Bartholomew Church, Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann cemetery, Cranston.

GEORGE W. WALMSLEY - Cranston

GEORGE W. WALMSLEY, 84, of Parkway Avenue, the former proprietor of Walmsley's Fish & Chips of Lincoln, died Sunday at West Shore Health Center, Warwick.

He was the husband of the late Winifred F. (Dakin) Walmsley. Born in Lincoln, a son of the late Harry W. and Maria (Vine) Walmsley, he lived in the town for most of his life. The proprietor of Walmsley's Fish & Chips for 20 years, before retiring, Mr. Walmsley had also been a baker at the former Arnold's Bakery, Lincoln, for many years. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion, William Shields Post 43.

He leaves three sons, George R. Walmsley of Warwick, John W. Walmsley of Cumberland and Allan J. Walmsley of Woodbridge, Va.; a daughter, Joanna S. Senay of Cranston; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Joanna Walmsley Shay, and the brother of the late Grace E. Walmsley.

A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in the Highland Memorial Park Chapel, Johnston.

RAYMOND J. AUDET - Burrillville

RAYMOND J. AUDET, 63, of Chapel Street, a retired maintenance worker, died Thursday at home. He was the husband of Shirley C. (Hart) Audet. Born in Providence, a son of the late Alcide and Emerentienne (Plourde) Audet, he lived in Burrillville most of his life.

Mr. Audet was a maintenance man for area textile mills until retiring, because of illness, in 1977.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, John Audet of Harrisville; two stepsons, Edward Perron of Harrisville and Leroy Perron in Arizona; a daughter, Lorie Reiff of Pascoag; five stepdaughters, Darlene Bentley of Chepachet, Caroline Berthelette of Woonsocket, Beverly Perron of Central Falls, Diane Lawson in Oklahoma and Rosemary Russin in Florida; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Leonce Audet and Beatrice Y. Daly.

The funeral service will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Highway, Oakland. A private burial is planned in Pascoag cemetery.

RITA (DUCHARME) KANE - Burrillville

RITA (DUCHARME) KANE, 79, of Railroad Avenue, a retired spinner, died Sunday at Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of Alfred J. Kane. Born in Burrillville, and a lifelong town resident, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Sadie (Blanchard) Ducharme.

She was a spinner in area textile mills for many years, retiring in 1975.

Mrs. Kane was a former member of the Rosary and Altar Society of St. Patrick Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves a brother, Wilfred Ducharme, and a niece, Diane Gravel, both of Pascoag; and several other nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Henry M. Ducharme and Theresa Kolodziejczak.

The funeral will be held today at 9 a.m. from the Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Highway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Patrick Church, Main Street, Harrisville. Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Pascoag.

WILLIAM "EDDIE" HUNTOON SR. - Burrillville

WILLIAM "EDDIE" HUNTOON SR., 37, of Sanford, Maine, died Friday at Maine Medical Center, Portland, Maine, of inuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Arundel, Maine.

He was the husband of Catherine (Watson) Huntoon. Born in Providence on July 22, 1963, he was a son of the late Charles R. Huntoon Jr. and the late Gloria E. (Anderson) Huntoon.

Mr. Huntoon had worked for Fiber Materials Inc., Biddeford, Maine, for 16 years before retiring.

He was very active as a volunteer coach for youth sports in Sanford, coaching T-ball, baseball and softball. "He was always willing to volunteer, anytime he could, to help out the children in any area of their life," his family said.

Mr. Huntoon played co-ed softball for many years, and was an avid golfer. An avid sports fan, he loved the New York Giants football team.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, William "Eddie" Huntoon Jr., and a daughter, Rachel Huntoon, both of Sanford; two brothers, Charles R. Huntoon III of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Richard A. Huntoon of Pascoag, in Burrillville; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be celebrated tomorrow at 11 a.m. in St. George's Episcopal Church, Maine Street, Sanford. Burial will be in the spring.

DONALD R. JONES - Barrington

DONALD R. JONES, 77, formerly of County Road, a retired fleet manager, died Saturday at the Jane Brown unit of Rhode Island Hospital, in Providence.

He was the husband of the late Judith (Benson) Jones. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Thomas and Mildred (Cole) Jones, he lived in Barrington for 70 years.

Mr. Jones was a fleet manager for AMICA Insurance Co. for 16 years before he retired in 1987.

An avid golfer, he won the R.I. State Mixed Golf Championship in 1961, and at the age of 16, was the runner-up in the statewide Public Links Tournament. He was a member of Rhode Island Country Club.

He leaves a sister, Mildred Machon of Bristol; two nephews; and a niece. He was the brother of the late Thomas C. Jones.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Forest Chapel cemetery, Nayatt Road.
