LAURENS — A graveside service with military honors for Jesse Teague Wasson, 72, Vietnam veteran, will be held at 11 a.m. today in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 10-10:30 a.m. prior at Kennedy Mortuary. Born in Laurens to Joseph Wasson and Louise Wasson Dean, he died Dec. 16, 2004. Surviving are sister, Racheal Patterson; nephew, Eric Wasson; great niece and nephew, Kate and David Wasson.
Willie Mae Woods
COLUMBIA — Services for Willie Mae Pressley Woods, 78, are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Missionary Church; burial in Crossroads Cemetery, both in Salters. Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, Kingstree, is in charge. Born in Cades to John Sr. and Jettie Burgess Pressley, she died Dec. 25, 2004. PROSPERITY — A memorial service for Billy D. Wise will be held at noon Wednesday at Mt. Hebron AME Church. F.B. Pratt & Son Funeral Home, Newberry, is in charge. Born in Prosperity to Walter and Fannie Wise, he died Dec. 25, 2004. Surviving are daughter, Alexis Wise; siblings, Mildred, Donald, Terry, Lionell, Roger, Walter, Larry, James Wise; 3 aunts; 3 uncles; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Beatrice Brown
COLUMBIA — Services for Beatrice Lowman Hill Brown, 85, of Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Leonard Carlson. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia.

Mrs. Brown died Sunday, December 26, 2004. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Jessie and Eunice McDonald Lowman. A lifetime resident, Mrs. Brown was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and retired from Columbia Pacific Mills.
Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Kay Brown Santiago of Columbia, Elaine Hill Gossett (Roy) of Irmo; sisters, Louise Kelly, Nola Rinehart, both of Columbia, Lavinia Shull of Lexington; brothers, Morgan Lowman of Baltimore, MD, Carl Lowman of Columbia; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Brown was predeceased by husbands, Harold W. Hill and Kenneth R. Brown; a daughter, Cecilia Brown Scruggs, and a brother, C.W. Lowman.
Judge Randolph Evans
COLUMBIA — Services for Judge Randolph Evans, 72, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church with interment to follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church Mission Fund.
Judge Evans was born in Scranton, SC; he was the son of the late James Roy and Ouida McDaniel Evans. He was a Master Mason of Boyleston Lodge #123, Ballentine, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. Mr. Evans was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Blanche Bouknight Evans; children, John Randall Evans, Steven Bouknight Evans, Donna Evans Derrick, David Chalmers Evans, and Lisa Evans Epting, their spouses and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Otley Evans, Lawrence Evans, and sister, Eula Mae Swan. He was predeceased by brothers, Reamer Evans, Bill Evans and Dan Evans.
Joseph Wrightson
SPARTANBURG — Joseph Eugene Wrightson, 83, of 108 Rosewood Lane, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at his home. Born April 26, 1921, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Dr. William Owen Wrightson and Hilda Connor Wrightson.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church until he joined St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in 1960 where he served on the Vestry and as a Senior Warden. He graduated from Spartanburg High School and Wofford College with a BA degree in English and History. Immediately after graduating from Wofford College, he was called into the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant and served through World War II in Europe and North Africa. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, several ribbons of awards and a Silver Star for gallantry in action. After returning from the war, he briefly attended the University of South Carolina Law School, leaving due to poor health, and later studied horticulture at North Carolina State, Raleigh, NC. He was an avid tennis player, hunter of quail and dove, a fisherman and gardener. Mr. Wrightson retired as owner and manager of Wrightson’s Flowers and Greenhouses.
He is survived by his wife, Rhita Bissell Wrighton; a sister-in-law, Gladys White Wrightson of Columbia; two nieces, Marian Wrightson Smith and Hilda Wrightson Flomboltz and her husband, Jonathan; two nephews, Edgar Charlesworth Wrightson and his wife, Colleen, and Joseph Connor Wrightson and his wife Cathy; several great nieces and nephews including Joseph Eugene Wrightson II; two godchildren, Martha Frances Young of Edgefield, SC, and James Hendrick of Columbia, SC. He was predeceased by three brothers, William Owen Wrightson, Jr., John May Wrightson and George Connor Wrightson.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Robert L. Brown and Dr. Drew Baker officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers will be C. M. Howell, Frances File, James Hendrick, Matt Luca, Doug Wishard and David Fort.

Robroy Fisher
GREENVILLE, Miss. — Funeral Services for Robroy Doak Fisher, planter, age 79 of Greenville, MS, were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2004, at the St. James Episcopal Church in Greenville, MS, with the Very Reverend Elizabeth Jones to officiate. He died Thursday, December 23, 2004, in the St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, MS, under the direction of Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville.
He was born on March 18, 1925, in Jonestown, MS, to Jacob Peter and Pauline Doak Fisher. He graduated from Columbia Military Academy and Mississippi State University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He returned to farm in Jonestown with his father and brother Pete, and later owned and operated Marathon Plantation on Lake Washington near Glen Allan. Mr. Fisher served and was honored in a number of civic and community roles, including appointment by Governor Ronnie Musgrove to chair the State Water Resources Committee, serving as president of Delta Council, the Association of Mississippi Agricultural Organization and the Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts. He was also appointed to the State ASC Committee and was named Outstanding District Commissioner of the Soil and Water Conservation District. He served on the Boards of Staple Cotton, The Nature Conservancy, Farmer’s Grain Terminal and was a founding member of Delta Wildlife. He was named State Conservationist of the Year by the Mississippi Wildlife Federation and received a Lifetime Conservation Achievement Award from the Nature Conservancy in Mississippi. Mr. Fisher was a member of St. James Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry as Junior and Senior Warden.
Survivors include: his wife, Georgia Younger Fisher of Greenville; daughter, Robbie Fisher of Jackson; son and daughter-in-law, George and Beth Fisher of Columbia, SC; sister, Pauline F. Handrahan of Birmingham, AL; 2 grandchildren, Doak and Hadley Fisher of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law, Jewell Graeber of Marks and Lucy Fisher of Indianola; 5 nieces, 4 nephews, and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.
The family received friends 5 to 7 p.m. Sun., Dec. 26 at the family home.

Leonard Wilson

Isabell Rabon
LUGOFF — Funeral services for Isabell Barfield Rabon, 85, of Lugoff, will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Doug Whitfield will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 28, 2004, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Mrs. Rabon died Sunday, December 26, 2004. Born in Lugoff, she was the daughter of the late Eddie and Ivelia Dowey Barfield, She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John Lee Rabon, children, Donald L. Rabon and his wife Gerri of Blythewood, Carolyn R. Hendersen and her husband Charles of Florence, Clifton L. “Pete” Rabon and his wife Anne of Lugoff, Brenda Fuller and her husband Jeff of Columbia, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Nellie Rabon of Lugoff. She was predeceased by a sister Dora Branham, brother, Irby, Willie, Joe, Claude, Bailey and George Barfield.
Mildred Stubbs
SUMTER — Mildred Middleton Stubbs, age 95, wife of the late Julius Alfred Stubbs, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Stubbs was born in Darlington, SC, the daughter of the late John Adger and Gertrude Gandy Middleton. She was a homemaker and a talented caterer. Mrs. Stubbs was known and will be remembered for the beautiful wedding cakes she made for family members and many others through the years. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors are: One son, Buddy Stubbs of West Columbia, SC; Two daughters, Edith S. DuBose and Margaret (Peggy) Stubbs, both of Sumter; One stepdaughter, Lucy S. Mihalic of Phoenix, AZ; Two sisters, Alice Ballard of Sumter and Sarah Yates of Augusta, GA; and Two grandsons, Kevin and Brian DuBose.
She was preceded in death by a stepson Oliver H. Stubbs.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home.
