Edwin Earl Johnson

LORIS -- Mr. Edwin Earl Johnson, 58, husband of Joann Barnhill Johnson, passed away Tuesday morning, May 3, 2005 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005 in the Palmetto Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Palmetto Funeral Home will follow in Princeville Cemetery in Loris. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson was born Mar. 13, 1947, son of John Gary Johnson and Albertha Lewis Johnson. He was a devout Christian and had held many positions throughout his lifetime ministry for Christ. He was an ordained deacon for over 10 years with the Southern Baptist Church Association, a member of Princeville Baptist Church, Sunday School Teacher, and youth worker. He was a very passionate hunter, showed coon dogs and was a member of the Backwoods Coon Hunter's Club. He was prior member of the Loris Chapter Masons. Mr. Johnson was a devoted husband, loving and giving father and Papa. He was a man of faith and a friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was predeceased by one sister, Doris Johnson and one brother, L. G. Johnson.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are one son, Andy Earl Johnson and his wife, Wendy of Loris; two daughters, Christy J. Richardson and her husband, Lamar, of Kinston, N.C., Tiffany J. Davis and her husband, Terry, of Conway; three brothers, Carlyle Johnson and his wife, Mary, of Loris, Elwood "Woody" Johnson and his wife, Teresa, of Tabor City, N.C., Melvin Laverne Johnson of Loris; one sister, Sarah Johnson and her husband, Jody, of Loris; six grandchildren, Jarrett, Holley, Kelsey, Andrea, Drew, and Tyler.

Palmetto Funeral Home is honored to serve the Johnson family.

Maybell Lino

GEORGETOWN -- Maybell Lino, 82, died Sunday, May 1, 2005. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the St. John AME Church officiated by the Rev. Jesse Marshall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home is serving the family.

Virginia Sue Crawford Muir

LITCHFIELD BEACH -- Virginia Sue Crawford Muir, 77, formerly of Greenville, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005.

Born in Springfield, Ill., she was the daughter of Thomas Lucas and Wilma Smith Crawford. She was a graduate of Springfield High School and attended the University of Illinois. She was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church in Greenville. Mrs. Muir was predeceased by her husband, John Anderson Muir Jr.

Surviving are two daughters, Marcia Muir Nichols and her husband, William Gairy Nichols III, of Murrells Inlet, and Sherry Muir Morrow and her husband, Thomas Wilson Morrow, of Greenville; five grandchildren, Virginia Adelaide Nichols, William Gairy Nichols IV, and Katelyn Ellerbe Nichols; Allison Morrow Freeland and her husband, Michael Chastain Freeland, Thomas Wilson Morrow Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Georgia Claire Freeland.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2005 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville. Following the service, the family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wilson Morrow, 105 West Augusta Place, Greenville.

Memorials may be made to Belin Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 528, Murrells Inlet, S.C. 29576 or The Humane Society of Grand Strand, 3241 10th Ave., N. Ext., Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29577.

Maxine Virginia Neuman Pabst

LORIS -- Mrs. Maxine Virginia Neuman Pabst, age 83, died Monday, May 2, 2005 at Loris Community Hospital following an illness.

Born Jan. 24, 1922, in Wymore, Neb., Mrs. Pabst was the daughter of the late Rudolph Neuman and the late Agnes Pettibone Neuman. Mrs. Pabst was a retired restaurant owner, a member of the Loris Garden Club, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Loris, where she was a part of the Katherine Richardson Circle.

Survivors include her husband, William Henry Pabst of Loris; one son, Stewart Pabst and his wife, Kathy, of Loris; one daughter, Susan Miller, and her husband, Michael, of Denver, and three grandchildren, Rudy, Andrea, and Caleb.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2005 at the Hardwick Memorial Chapel. Officiated by the Rev. Randolph Kesler. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, May 5, 2005, from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice of Horry County, P.O. Box 50640, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29579, or to the Loris Garden Club Arbor Day Fund, P.O. Box 36, Loris, S.C. 29569.

Charles "Chuck" Parrish

EASLEY -- Charles Addison "Chuck" Parrish, 58, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Born in Greenville County and reared in Greenville, Raleigh, N.C., and Easley, Chuck was the son of Mrs. Ernestine Sitton Parrish of Easley, and the late Benson Clayton Parrish Sr. He was a graduate of Easley High School and Clemson University and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Easley.

He served in the S.C. National Guard, Easley unit, from 1968 until 1974. Chuck was devoted to his alma mater, Clemson, and was a sports enthusiast. He was also known to be a very empathetic supporter of his USC, UNC and Duke buddies. During his career,Chuck served as Assistant Pro at Green Valley Country Club in Greenville and Club Manager of Belle Isle Plantation in Georgetown. His illness forced his retirement as a golf director from Brunswick Plantation on the North Carolina coast.

A resident, until recently, of North Myrtle Beach, Chuck enjoyed his passions of dancing, playing golf, and beach music. His charismatic personality was a joy to all he met and no one was a stranger.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a daughter, Lee McDowell Parrish and her fiance, Yancey A. McLeod III; a son, Charles Addison Parrish Jr.; a sister, Stella Sitton Parrish, all of Columbia; a brother, Benson C. Parrish Jr. and his wife, Meredith, of Lincolnton, Ga.; nine nieces, nephews and their spouses, and a great niece. Chuck was predeceased by his heroes; father, Benson Clayton Parrish Sr. and sister, Tena Parrish Hendricks.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Easley, with the Rev. Mac Kinnett officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Beale, Wendell Cantrell, John Cartee, Johnny Cutchin, Syd McDaniel, George Osburn, Dr. Calvin Snipes, Dr. Bill Spearman, Glenn Vick, The Honorable Edward Welmaker and Wayne Williams.

A celebration of Chuck's life will be conducted at a later date by faithful friends at the OD Pavilion in North Myrtle Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621 or to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 582, Easley, S.C. 29641 or to the charity of one's choice.

The family is at the home of his mother, Mrs. Benson C. Parrish, 607 West Main Street, Easley, S.C. 29640.

Dorothy Robinson

MULLINS -- Ms. Dorothy Robinson, died Monday, May 2, 2005 in McLeod Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Troy's Funeral Home of Mullins.

John Edward Stevens

TABOR CITY, N.C. -- John Edward Stevens, age 63, died Wednesday morning, May 4, 2005 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care in Wilmington, N.C.

He was born in Marion County, S.C., the son of the late John Pearlie and Alleine Harrelson Stevens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a former employee of R.J. Reynolds Co. and of The City of Loris.

He is survived by his wife, Saundra C. Stevens of the home; one son, Kevin Willard of Tabor City, N.C.; one daughter, Alicia W. Williams of Tabor City, N.C., and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 6, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Sandy Plain Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Wendell Ray and the Rev. Ragsdale Allsbrook, with interment in the Norris Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday night from 7 until 9 p.m. at Inman Funeral Home.
