W. Earl Lee
ROCK HILL - Mr. Walter Earl Lee, 75, of 843 Carey Drive died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
Born in Chester County, Mr. Lee was a graduate of Chester High School and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College. He retired in 1987 from Celanese after 33 years; he was a senior maintenance specialist. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Park Baptist Church and the B.F. Hawkins Bible class. He was also a member of the Elks Club and the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Dot Lee; his son, Steven E. Lee of Rock Hill; his brother, Robert W. Lee of Chester County; and two grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bass Funeral Home.

Terry McClurkin
CHESTER - Mr. Terry McClurkin, 34, of 109 Cemetery St., died Tuesday, Jan. 6. 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at King's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Stringfellow Jr. officiating and and the Revs. J.D. McClurkin, O. L. Smith and Jessie Boulware assisting. Burial will be at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church cemetery.
Born in Chester County, Mr. McClurkin was of the Baptist faith and attended Chester High School.
Surviving are three brothers, James Robert McClurkin of Fairfax, Randy McClurkin of the home and Ramon McClurkin of Chester; and four sisters, Francis Feaster and Barbara Wilson, both of Chester, Linda Mayfield of the home and Mary Burris of Bishopville.
The family will receive friends at the home.

William Nichols
CHESTER - Mr. William D. "Bill" Nichols, 68, of 624 Purity Road died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carl Williams officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.
Born in Rock Hill, Mr. Nichols was a retired heavy equipment operator. He attended Chester County schools and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of VFW of California, a member of the DAV of Chester and a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita McElyea Nichols; two sons, William D. Nichols Jr. of Lomita, Calif., and George G. Nichols of Lawndale, Calif.; his daughter, Gloria Jean Nichols Domschke of Lawndale, Calif.; two stepsons, Ricky Smith of Carson, Calif., and A.R. Bradley of Lakewood, Calif.; two brothers, Barnett Nichols of Richburg and Henry Grady Nichols of Chester; two sisters, Virginia Ann Parker of Union and Cora Bentley of Lockhart; and nine grandchildren.

Gracie Railey
CHESTER - Mrs. Gracie Mae Pope Railey, 67, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Lincoln County, N.C., Hospital.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.
Born in Rock Hill, and formerly of Chester, Mrs. Railey was a homemaker and attended the schools of Rock Hill. She was the widow of Walter L. Railey Sr.
Surviving are her son, Walter L. Railey Jr. of Burlington, Kan.; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Home.

James White Sr.
KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Mr. James E. "Jim" White Sr., 82, of 1301 Shelby Road died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with Dr. John Sloan officiating. Burial will be at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. White was a member of First Baptist Church, a former deacon, building committee member and a retired supervisor at Kings Mountain Mica.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Hord White; his son, James White Jr. of Rock Hill; two daughters, Mikie Smith and Linda Peeler, both of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Harris Funeral Home.

Doris Childers
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Doris Brooks Childers, 62, of 707 Patriot Parkway, Apt. 403, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998 at her home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A Rock Hill native, Mrs. Childers was a retiree of Defenders Resort, Heritage USA, Defenders Industries and Rosewood Elementary School. She was a homemaker and a member of West End Baptist Church. She was the widow of Leroy Childers.
Surviving are three sons, Tony Childers and Michael Childers, both of Lake Wylie, and Lane Childers of Rock Hill; two daughters, Kimberly C. Barfield and Sandra Johnson, both of Rock Hill; her stepson, Don L. Childers of Charlotte; her stepdaughter, Deannie C. Carter of York; a number of brothers and sisters; and nine grandchildren.

Margaret Clinton
CLOVER - Mrs. Margaret Mae Hall Clinton, 80, of 2121 S.C. 55E. died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. John Gess and Richard Swartz officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A York County native, Mrs. Clinton was retired from the York County Sheriff's Department. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Howard "Boot" Leslie Clinton of Clover; two sons, Howard Leslie Clinton Jr. of Hendersonville, N.C., and John Campbell Clinton of Clover; her sister, Mary Campbell Hall of York; and five grandchildren.

Frank Crowder
LANDO - Mr. Frank P. Crowder, 65, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. William Evans officiating.
Born in York County, Mr. Crowder was formerly employed with Rock Hill Printing and Finishing and Manetta Mills. He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Jeane Hagler Crowder; his daughter, Diane Woods of Georgia; two sisters, Jacqueline Robinson and Louise Hamm of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Sadie Davis
CLOVER - Mrs. Sadie Laura Davis, 76, of 112 Smith St. died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Collins officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Born in York County, Mrs. Davis was retired from Bowling Green Spinning.
Surviving are her husband, Jack E. Davis of the home; three sons, Robert Kale of Taylors, Tommy Kale of Clover and Gene Davis of Gastonia, N.C.; two daughters, Jackie Davis of Louisiana and Barbara Bowman of Clover; two brothers, Eddie Howard of Hickory, N.C., and Sammual Howard of York; her sister, Ruth Estes of Gastonia, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

LANCASTER - Mr. Theron Gary "Buck" Hancock, 45, of 2653 Kirkover Drive died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Lancaster Church of God, with the Rev. Lacy Jones officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A Lancaster native, Mr. Hancock was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and was a millwright and welder for AME in Fort Mill.
Surviving are his daughter, Jodie Hancock of Lancaster; his mother, Frances Cauthen Hancock of Lancaster; four sisters, Joyce Anderson of Chester, and Gale Morgan, Susan Rushing and Joanne Jowers, all of Lancaster.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Ricky Hayes
CAMDEN - Mr. Ricky Lavern Hayes, 47, of 2537 Lockhart Road died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Clarence Dorman and Ricky Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Refuge Baptist Church cemetery.
A Camden native, Mr. Hayes was a member of Refuge Baptist Church and a carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Ann Hayes; his son, R. Sheldon Hayes of Camden; his parents, John Elmer and Nellie M. Hayes of Kershaw; and his brother, John M. "Mickey" Hayes of Kershaw.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Elizabeth Horency
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Elizabeth Basile Horency, 76, of 127 Murrah Drive died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Magnolia Manor.
A funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensburg, Pa. Burial will be at Greensburg Catholic cemetery in Greensburg, Pa.
A native of Greensburg, Pa., Mrs. Horency was a retired administrator at University of Buffalo and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensburg, Pa.
Surviving are her son, Russell Horency of Rock Hill; her mother, Mary Sabatine Basile of Greensburg, Pa.; her sister, Lucille Guerrieri of Greensburg, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Pa.

Alma Humphries
ROCK HILL - Miss Alma B. Humphries, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998 at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Born in Lancaster County, Miss Humphries was employed at Celanese, where she was a spinner for 30 years. She was a member of West End Baptist Church.
Surviving are several cousins and numerous friends.
Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, 1727 McConnells Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
