GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. Guy Cook, 88, of 2107 Dove Tree Lane died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bowling Green, with the Rev. Dr. Milton Key officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Cook was a son of the late Walter Cook and Irene Cook. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee and was a member of the gospel choir and hymn choir. He retired from Coleman and Cockers Machine Shop. He was a member of Zimri Cook Masonic Lodge and Bradford Heights Community Watch.

Surviving are his wife, Blanche Cook; his daughter, Myrtice Barnwell; four sons, Marvin Cook, Alfred Cook, Perry Cook and Anthony Cook, all of Gastonia; six brothers, Joseph Cook and Freddie Cook of Gastonia, Lawson Alexander of Rock Hill, Theodore Cook of Rhode Island, W.J. Cook of Baltimore and Charles Cook of San Francisco; three sisters, Dorothy C. Jenkins of Washington, D.C., and Wilma C. Adams and Ruby C. Petty, both of Gastonia; seven grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Martin's Funeral Services.

Tennessee Crawford

LANCASTER - Mrs. Tennessee Calhoun Crawford, 98, of 301 S. Market St., died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Revs. Ernest T. Thompson and Samuel Thomas officiating.

A native of Clio, Mrs. Crawford was a daughter of the late Archibald Legare Calhoun and Sallie Galloway Calhoun. She was the widow of Dr. R.L. Crawford. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Literary Review Club, the Lancaster Garden Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Medical Auxiliary.

Surviving are her sister, Martha Williams of Lancaster; and three brothers, Archibald M. Calhoun, Charles E. Calhoun and Marvin G. Calhoun, all of Clio.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at home.

Jacob Hutto

BATESBURG - Mr. Jacob Walter Hutto, 74, of 1420 Nazarene Road died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. at the First Nazarene Church of Chester with the Rev. Dr. Harold Liner officiating. Another service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Nazarene Church of Batesburg, with the Rev. Mitchell Quick officiating. Burial will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Aiken, Mr. Hutto was a son of the late Walter Hutto and Annie Ferrell Hutto. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the Chester school district. He was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Chester. He was an avid RV camper and was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association, Carolina Cruisers, Campers Club of America and the Golden Oldies Chapter.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie Faye Thompson Hutto; two sons, Terry Hutto of Chester and Michael Hutto of Columbia; three daughters, Wanda Ervin of Chester, and Cheryl Tucker and Crystal Lewis, both of Brevard, N.C.; two brothers, Howard Hutto and Delmar Hutto, both of McConnells; four sisters, Barbara Simon and Geraldine Shavers, both of Chester, Dorothy Johnston of Lockhart and Earline Musser of Union; nine grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home of Wanda Ervin in Chester.

Leroy Johnston

CHARLOTTE - Mr. LeRoy Johnston, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Holly United Methodist Church, with Dr. Boyce Huffstetler and the Revs. Bill Englebreth and Mike Rouse officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Johnston was a son of the late Samuel Claude Johnston and Mary Lee Moore Johnston. He was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Charlotte for 52 years. He served on the administrative board and was chairman of the trustees. He was a member of Crusaders Sunday school class and was on numerous other committees. He was a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Johnson Clan. He graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1933 and studied mechanical drafting and machine design with the International Correspondence School. He studied aircraft sheet metal fabrication and lofting at Anderson Airplane School in Los Angeles. He worked for Consolidated Vultee Aircraft before World War II and retired after 32 years as production and planning engineer for Terrell Machine Co. in Charlotte. He was a master craftsman, draftsman and tinkerman. He was a member of the Swinging Saints Dance Club.

Surviving are his wife, Willie May Williford Johnston; his sister, Claude J. Laurent; and three brothers, Glenn B. Johnston of Lincolnton, N.C., and Carol Vick Johnston and Reid S. Johnston, both of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends after the service in the church's Family Life Center.

Annie Reeves

LANCASTER - Mrs. Annie Lee Stewart Reeves, 91, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Tanglewood Nursing Center in Ridgeway.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at West Side Cemetery in Lancaster, with the Rev. Earl Alford officiating.

A native of Marshville, N.C., Mrs. Reeves was a daughter of the late George Benton Stewart and Alma Luke Sinclair Stewart. She was the widow of William O. "Bill" Reeves. She was a registered nurse and worked for Dr. R.L. Crawford Jr. She attended the Anointed Word Church in Lancaster. She was a member of South Carolina Nurses Association.

Surviving are her sister, Edith S. Funderburk of Batesburg; and her brother, Max S. Stewart of Marshville, N.C.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Jill Sipe

YORK - Mrs. Jill Sipe, 54, of 220 Tanager Drive died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Clover, with the Rev. David Stanford officiating and the Revs. Jim Mooney, Larry Nunn and Harry Bryant assisting. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

A native of Gastonia, N.C., Mrs. Sipe was a daughter of Nan Wisher Clark and the late John Louis Clark. She was a food service director at York Place in York.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Danny Sipe of York; her son, John Mark Sipe of York; and her daughter, Kelly Sipe Ahrens of Summerville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Martha Wallace

CLOVER - Mrs. Martha Nell Stanton Wallace, 79, of 411 Marion St. died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Beverly Health Care in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Hutchison officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of York County, Mrs. Wallace was a daughter of the late Minot Earl Stanton and Eliza Faris Stanton. She was the widow of George Dever Wallace. She retired from American Thread Co. in Clover. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clover.

Surviving are two brothers, David Stanton and Frank Stanton, both of Clover; two sisters, Elizabeth Killian of Clover and Louise Adams of Gastonia, N.C.; three grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon today at the home of Ralph and Judy Miller, 200 Edgewood Drive, Clover.

Julius White

CLOVER - Mr. Julius Lloyd White, 75, of 1601 Lloyd White Road died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Crowders Creek ARP Church in Gastonia, N.C., with the Revs. Charles Evans and Jim McLurkin officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lincoln County, N.C., Mr. White was a son of the late Jackson John White and Sallie Howell White. He was a World War II veteran and was a member of American Legion. He was a charter member of the Clover Rescue Squad and served as captain for eight years and secretary and treasurer for many years. He was a retired manager and part - time worker at Napa/ Jobbers supply. He was a member of Crowders Creek ARP Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, elder, activity director and deacon. He coordinated the annual Thanksgiving breakfast. He was Clover Citizen of the Year in 1991, Clover Rescue Squad Man of the Year in 1973 and was recognized recently by the state House of Representatives as an Outstanding Citizen of Clover.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Childers White; two daughters, Jane Thompson of Clover and Susan Hills of Lake Wylie; four sons, Larry White, Jerry White and Bill White, all of Clover, and Dennis White of Rock Hill; four brothers, Raeford White of Kings Mountain, N.C., Max White of Florence and Gene White and Harold White, both of Clover; his sister, Shirley Eades of Clover; 13 grandchildren; and his great - grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

Robert Adkins Sr.

YORK - Mr. Robert "Bobby" Alvin Adkins Sr., 57, of 1521 Moore Road died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Ebenezer Senior Services & Rehabilitation.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, with Pastor Dennis E. Reid officiating. Burial will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, Catawba Ward Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Adkins was a son of Emma Rockholt Adkins of Rock Hill and the late Mason Adkins. He was a retired maintenance foreman with Bowater - Carolina Power Plant. He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Sharon Harris Adkins; his son, Robert Adkins Jr. of the home; his daughter, Judy Adkins of the home; five brothers, Leroy Adkins and Johnny Adkins, both of Rock Hill, Roger Adkins and J. M. Adkins, both of York, and Jerry Adkins of Chester; three sisters, Pat Wilkinson of McConnells, and Brenda Craig and Sandra Trader, both of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and other times at the home of his mother, Emma Adkins, 1144 Charlotte Ave., Rock Hill.

John Whiteside

FORT MILL - Mr. John "J.T." Whiteside, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at Mercy Hospital South in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pineville Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rock Hill.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Whiteside was a son of the late John Calvin Whiteside and Nancy E. Parker Whiteside. He retired from Celanese with more than 36 years service. He was a member of Pineville Church of the Nazarene, where he served as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and board member. He headed the Nursing Home Ministry for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Jane F. Whiteside; three sons, Luther Whiteside, Roger Whiteside and Ralph Whiteside, all of Fort Mill; two daughters, Nancy Moore of Fort Mill and Judi Smith of Charlotte; his brother, Robert Whiteside of Fort Mill; his sister, Ocelene Patterson of Fort Mill; eight grandchildren; and his great - grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel.

Lillie Childers

GAFFNEY - Mrs. Lillie Mae Childers, 83, of 118 Creek Stone Road died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery in Blacksburg, with the Rev. Marvin Crawford officiating.

A native of Cherokee County, Mrs. Childers was a daughter of the late John Martin and Meeler McDaniel Martin. She was the widow of the Rev. J. "Coleman" Childers. She was a homemaker and was of the interdenominational faith.

Surviving are six sons, Zanie James Childers, Otis Calvin "Billy" Childers and Terry Lynn Childers, all of Gaffney, Marvin Lee Childers of Blacksburg, Larry Roger Childers of Mayo and Howard Eugene Childers of York; her daughter, Hazel Allen of Gaffney; her brother, James David Martin of York; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at White Columns Funeral Service in Blacksburg and other times at the home.
