WINCHESTER, Va. - Mr. Earl Douglas "Doug" Brock, 35, of 485 Rolling Ridge Lane, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, in Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Brock was a son of Keller and Penny Brock of Winchester, and Inez Shupe Manuel and Russ Manuel of Edgewood, Md. He was employed with Giant Foods Inc. in Baltimore. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Winchester.

Surviving in addition to his parents and stepparents are two stepbrothers, Kenny Eckenrode and Shane Eckenrode, both of Winchester; two stepsisters, Jill Murphy of Manchester, Md., and Beth Smith of Bel Air, Md.; his paternal grandmother, Sarah Pate Brock of Stauton, Va.; and his maternal stepgrandparents, Ned and Dorothy Wolfe of Winchester.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and at other times at the home of Bobby Brock Jr., 3788 Harmony Road, Catawba.

Jim Hooker Sr.

FORT LAWN - Mr. James Richard "Jim" Hooker Sr., 60, of 1231 Mount Vernon Road died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Union ARP Church in Richburg, with the Revs. Jerry Cox and Alan Derrick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Columbia, Mr. Hooker was the son of the late Charles Manley Hooker and Sadie Redd Hooker. He was the chief executive officer and president of J&R Mechanical Inc. He was a member of Leo Masonic Lodge No. 310 in Johnsonville and a charter member of James K. Polk Lodge No. 759 in Pineville, N.C. He was on the board of the Dixie Youth Baseball League in Richburg. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and a member of Union ARP Church in Richburg.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy M. Hooker; his son, James Richard Hooker of Fort Lawn; his daughter, Robin Hooker Berryhill of Fort Lawn; two sisters, Sadie Caulder of Columbia and Leila Aughtry of Charlotte; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Cauthen Funeral Home Rock Hill Chapel.

Grace Branham
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Grace Hoover Branham, 81, formerly of Reservation Road, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. John M. Williams III officiating.
A native of Wilmington, N.C., Mrs. Branham was the widow of Lewis Lee Branham. She formerly worked for Celanese Inc.
Surviving are her son, Richard Branham Sr. of Rock Hill; her daughter, Thelma Osborne of Catawba; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Lillie Nix
SENECA - Mrs. Lillie Frances Simpson Nix, of 35 Gammel St. died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Lila Doyle Nursing Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rudy Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Welcome Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Fairplay, Mrs. Nix was a daughter of the late John James Simpson and Inez Brown Simpson. She was retired from the J.P. Stevens Seneca plant, with 35 years of service. She was a member of Utica Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Clarence Newton Nix.
Surviving are two sons, Alfred Nix of Westminister and Jerry Nix of Seneca; her daughter, Montez Nix Carter of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the Brown-Ogelesby Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of Alfred Nix, 107 Langston Hill Road, Westminister.

Floyd Helms, Sr.
KERSHAW - Mr. Floyd Conway Helms Sr., 72, of 209 Cedar St. in Myrtle Beach died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at the Hospice of Union County in Monroe, N.C.
A private memorial service will be held.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Helms was a son of Ethel Marie McManus Thomas of Lancaster and the late Jesse Richard Helms. He was retired from the Good Samaritan Hospital.
Survived in addition to his mother are three sons, Charles "Ricky" Helms of Heath Springs and Floyd C. Helms, Jr. and Steve E. Helms, both of Kershaw; his daughter, Cathy H. Catoe of Heath Springs; his sister, Mrs. Jack Haulsee of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 tonight at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel, and at other times at the home of Floyd C. Helms, Jr., 9011 Flat Creek Road.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Lisa Ann May McClane, 41, of Fort Mill died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Unity Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jeannie Bickett officiating.
A native of Alton, Ill., Mrs. McClane was a daughter of Walter May Jr. and Janice Kopp, both of St. Louis.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Mark McClane; her son, Devon McClane of the home; her daughter, Jessa McClane of the home; two sisters, Terri Swartz of Jamestown, N.C., and Cheryl McCormick-Blattner of St. Louis; her stepfather, Tom Kopp of St. Louis; her stepmother, Jeanie May of St. Louis; and her paternal grandfather, Walter May Sr. of East Alton, Ill.;
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Wolfe Funeral Home.

Ruth Carter
FORT MILL - Mrs. Ruth Connell Carter, 85, of 126 W. Oak St. died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Fort Mill, with the Revs. Jeff Bedwell and Bill Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery.
A native of Flat Rock, N.C., Mrs. Carter was a daughter of the late Graham Connell and Nora Wilkie Connell. A graduate of Flat Rock High School, she worked as a machinist at Seymour Johnson Air Base during World War II. She retired from Celanese Inc. and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Carter; her son, John Richard Carter of Fort Mill; her brother, Douglas Connell of Newport News, Va.; her sister, Agnes Higgins of Weaverville, N.C.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mae Moore
ATLANTA - Mrs. Mae Rose Barber Moore, 81, of 547 Lige Street died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Sadie G. Mayes Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Barber Memorial Cemetery in Rock Hill.
A native of York County, Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late James Moore and Lula Douglas Moore. She was a member of St. Matthew's AME Zion Church and was the widow of the late Rufus Grady Moore.
Surviving are her son, Rufus Aldon Moore of Atlanta, and two grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at Robinson Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. today and until 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The family will receive friends at the home.

CLOVER - Mr. A.C. "Paw-Paw" Phillips, 74, of 109 Mobley Street died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bowling Green, with the Rev. Milton Key officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mr. Phillips was a son of the late Green Phillips and Sarah Hefner Phillips. He was a WWII veteran and was retired from Ti-Caro. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bowling Green and was a member of Clover Zion Church Aid Society No. 11.
Survived are two daughters, Sarah E. Phillips of the home and Sara H. Davis of Gastonia; his son, Willie G. Phillips of Clover; 11 sisters, Ella Phillips, Mary McCleave, Bertha McCleave, Alice McCleave and Edna McDowell, all of Clover, Gracie Hand and Betty Phillips, both of Belmont, N.C., Sarah Lee Dowtin of Staten Island, N.Y., Irene Brown of Gastonia, Willie Russell of Kannapolis, N.C., and Leola Hall of Ferndale, Mich.; his brothers, James Phillips of Belmont; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8 tonight at Generation Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home from 1 to 9:30 p.m. today.

Karisia Jefferis
ELYRIA, Ohio - Karisia "Kari" Marie Jefferis, 7, formerly of Chester County, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland.
The funeral will be 8 p.m. at the Busch-Curtis-Scheuffler Family Chapel in Elyria. Burial will be in Fort Mill.
A native of Rock Hill, Karisia was a daughter of William D. Jefferis of Chester County and Sherry Jefferis of Elyria.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two sisters, Mikki Jefferis of Chester County and Shannon Jefferis of Elyria; three brothers, Billy Jefferis, Brandon Jefferis and Devin Jefferis, all of Chester County; paternal grandparents, Bill and Barbara Ashworth of Chester County; and her maternal grandmother, Dora Faile of Clover.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Busch-Curtis-Scheuffler Family Chapel and from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Beatrice Jackson Watson of 238 Cornelius Drive died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
