Inez McAbee
YORK - Mrs. Inez White McAbee, 94, of 446 Blessed Hope Road died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at White Oak Manor Nursing Home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church, with the Revs. Alan Price and Shannon Duncan officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York, Mrs. McAbee was a daughter of the late David Allen White and Margaret McAbee White. She was a retired winder in the textile industry. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, where she was a member of the ladies Bible class. She was a widow of James Franklin McAbee.
Surviving are five daughters, Thelma McAbee Hartsoe, Evelyn McAbee George and Jean Barley, all of York; Reola McAbee Rowlan of Cramerton, N.C. and Grace McAbee Eskew of Gaffney; her sister, Grace White Blackwelder of Fort Mill;
15 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Beauregard Barnes
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mr. Beauregard Barnes, 74, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 712 Randolph St. NW. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Quantico National Cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Barnes was a son of the late Rev. James S. Barnes and Etta Patton Barnes. He was baptized in the AME Zion Church and attended public school in Rock Hill. He attended Trinity AME Zion in Washington and joined First Baptist Church. He was honorably discharged from the U.S Army in 1954. He studied food service at Phelps Vocational Senior High School. He worked as a headwaiter for more than 40 years in Washington and was a member of the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Local Union No. 25. He drove for Capitol Cab Company. He was a member of St. John's Lodge No. 12, Most Worshipful Prince Hall and Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia.
Surviving are his brothers, James H. Barnes Sr. and Brownie Barnes, both of Rock Hill; and his sister, Bernice Barnes McMullen of Rock Hill.
Stewart Funeral Home, Washington, is in charge.

Robert Carothers
ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert Frank Carothers, 89, of 5056 Hampton Ridge Road died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer ARP Church, with Dr. John A. Basie and the Rev. Charles Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery.
A native of Pineville, N.C., Mr. Carothers was the son of the late Ross Hicklin Carothers and Carrie Delia Bayne Carothers. He was a dairy farmer and was a bush hogger. He was a member of the Corinthian Lodge No. 416 and Ebenezer ARP Church.
Surviving are his wife, Bertie Biggers Carothers; his son, Michael Parks of Rock Hill; four sisters, Anabell C. Riggins of Greenville, Sara C. Stacks of Lancaster, and Delia C. Parker and Alice C. Morrison, both of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, and other times at home.

Roy Brown
ROCK HILL - Mr. Roy Allen Brown, 46, of 53 Reynolds St. died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
A graveside service will be noon today at Barber Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles A. Woods officiating.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Brown was a graduate of Rock Hill High School.
Surviving are his daughter, Kanisha Hinton of Rock Hill; and his grandson.
Clemons Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles Cargile
FORT MILL - Elder Charles F. Cargile of 207 Smith St. died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Mercy Hospital South in Pineville, N.C.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. today at First Born Church of the Apostolic Faith in Rock Hill. The eulogy will be conducted by Bishop Phillip F. Cargile Sr., with Minister Carolyn McEntyre and Apostle Norman Brake assisting.
A native of Fulton County, Ga., Elder Cargile was the son of the late Fesser Cargile and Ella Cargile. He was a member of First Born Church of the Apostolic Faith, where he was an elder. He served on the trustee board and was a district elder, supervisor and superintendent of the Sunday school. He was head of the Minister's Auxiliary. He was a member of the Linden, N.J., Police Auxiliary and was a former Mason. He was a chef and previously worked for H.L. Green, Kalco Corp. and Middlesex General Hospital in New Jersey. He was retired as first chef at Wakefern Food Corp. in Elizabeth, N.J. He also was retired from Paramount's Carowinds, with 25 years of service. He was a former pastor of The First Pentecostal Church of God in Elizabeth, N.J. He was the widower of the Rev. Mother Derris Cargile.
Surviving are two sons, Herbert Cargile and the Rev. Phillip F. Cargile Sr., both of Fort Mill; his daughter, Dolores G. Battle of Rock Hill; his adopted son, Minister Norman Brake of Rock Hill; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 102 Fox Run Drive, Fort Mill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jesus Christ Healing Foundation, Faith, P.O. Box 1081, Fort Mill, SC.

Ottie Faulkenberry
LANCASTER - Mrs. Ottie Byrd Faulkenberry, 90, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Revs. Joel Rhyner and Charles Cauthen officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Faulkenberry was a daughter of the late James Byrd and Virgie Baker Byrd. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Rev. Miller Lee Faulkenberry.
Surviving are two sons, William O. Faulkenberry of San Diego and Everette Faulkenberry of Lancaster; two daughters, Virgie F. Cauthen of Polkton, N.C., and Ann F. McManus of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home Lancaster Chapel and other times at the home of Everette Faulkenberry, 15789 Oakwood Ave.

Ed Helms
ROCK HILL - Mr. Floyd Edward "Ed" Helms Jr., 59, of 1030 Christopher Circle died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Bass Funeral Home, with the Revs. Lewis Vehaun and Marty Watkins officiating. Burial will be at the Chatham Hill Memorial Park in Cheraw.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Helms was a son of Floyd E. Helms Sr. of Bamberg and the late Kathleen B. Brounson Helms. He worked for Suburban Propane Gas Co. for 31 years. He was a district manager and was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Dominican Republic. He was of the Christian faith.
Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Doris Cagle Helms; two sons, Mark Andrew Helms of Lancaster and Eric Matthew Helms of Mauldin; two brothers, David Helms and Lester Helms, both of Rock Hill; and his stepmother, Bertha H. Helms.
The family will receive friends one hour after the service today at Bass Funeral Home.

Ina Jackson
YORK - Mrs. Ina Alexander Jackson, died Sunday, April 1, 2001.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at St. James United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Keith Hunter and Stephen L. Love officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York, Mrs. Jackson was a graduate of St. James High School in York. She was a home health-care provider for her mother until her mother's death. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and was active in many auxiliaries in the church. She was an Eastern Star of Wilson Chapter No. 207 for more than 50 years. Mrs. Jackson was the widow of Milton L. Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Generation Funeral Home and other times at home.
The body may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Monday.

Mary Paulding
CHESTER - Mrs. Mary Tidwell Paulding, 77, of 942 Holmes Road died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Gethsemane Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Pratt officiating and the Revs. E.E. Vance, O.L. Smith, Cordell Jenkins, W.N. Stallworth, Joseph English, Janice English and evangelist Evelyn Pratt assisting. Burial will follow at the Zion Hopewell AME Zion Cemetery in Ridgeway.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Paulding was a daughter of the Rev. George Tidwell and Sallie Featherstone Tidwell. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, the Missionary Society, Pastor's Aide, AP&B Society and Christian Burial Aid Society No. 1. She was educated in the public schools of Chester County and attended Finley High School and Friendship Junior College. She was an educator who retired from the Chester County school district in 1988. She was the widow of the Rev. Falton R. Paulding.
Surviving are her son, Louis T. Paulding of Chester; her daughter, Darlene Paulding Owens of Chester; her sister, Hester T. Honor of Chester; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester, and other times at the home of Roger and Darlene Paulding Owens, 953 Holmes Road.
The body may viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at King's Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Mildred Shasteen
YORK - Mrs. Mildred Mims "Millie" Shasteen, 76, of 2159 Old Highway 321 died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bratton Funeral Home in York, with the Rev. Donald Beau officiating.
A native of Berkeley County, Mrs. Shasteen was a daughter of the late James A. Mims and Lila Bruorton. She was the widow of Gerald Olin Shasteen. She was a teller and was retired from Home Federal Savings and Loan.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Brown of York; two stepsons, Steven Shasteen of Gaffney and Jerry Shasteen of Redding, Calif.; two brothers, James Mims of Charleston and Joe Mims of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Virginia M. Cowan and Winona M. Knight, both of Charleston; three grandchildren; her great-grandchild; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service.

ROCK HILL - The Rev. Elisha "Cadillac" Stallworth, 76, of 460 Fewell St. died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

YORK - Mrs. Arrie "Sang" Johnson Thompson, 68, of 7 S. Pacific Ave. died Friday, April 6, 2001.
Arrangements will be announced by Wright Funeral Home.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Boyd P. Watts, 81, of 1708 Mount Gallant Road died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Conway Hospital in Conway.
Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is in charge.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Marion Lewis of 3250 Celanese Road died Friday, April 6, 2001, at home.

Elmer Patterson
CLOVER - Mr. Elmer P. Patterson, 75, of 1028 Mosteller St. died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Harry Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
A native of York County, Mr. Patterson was a son of the late Marion P. Patterson and Laura Burton Patterson. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of Bowling Green First Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife, Pauline Houston Patterson.

Virginia Rowland
FORT MILL - Mrs. Virginia Wilson Rowland, 82, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Dr. Robert C. Monson and Joseph Tysinger officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, W.Va.
A daughter of the late Newman Lockridge Wilson and Viola Hickman Wilson, Mrs. Rowland lived in Fort Mill for 20 years before moving to Spring Arbor of Rock Hill in 1996. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Dorcas Sunday school class. She was a former member of the Leroy Springs Recreation Complex seniors group. She was a homemaker and was the widow of the Prentice Rowland.
Surviving are her son, David Rowland of Fort Mill; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday night at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of David and Carolyn Rowland, 117 E. Leroy St.

Boyd Watts
CONWAY - Mr. Boyd Thurman Watts, 81, of 1708 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Conway Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, Rock Hill, with the Revs. Mike Wooten and Marie Knuckles officiating.
Born in Conway, Mr. Watts was a son of the late Smithy and Mattie Watts. He was a retired, self-employed industrial insulator and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Garden Sanctuary, where he was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was the widower of the Edna Allen Watts
Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Watts; his daughter, Betty W. Ludlum of Rock Hill; his sister, Laura Mills of Albemarle, N.C.; his stepson, Woody Atkison of Charleston; his stepdaughter, Ann Varn of Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, and at other times at the home of Betty Ludlum, 165 Willwood Circle.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Garden Sanctuary General Fund, 831 Cedar Street, Rock Hill SC 29730.

Arrie Thompson
SHARON - Mrs. Arrie Jane (Sang) Thompson, 68, of 7 S. Pacific Ave., York, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Ebenezer AME Zion Church in Smyrna, with the Revs. Charles Ford, Dennis McCleave and Willie Evans officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Formerly of Smyrna, Mrs. Thompson was a daughter of the late John and Jennie Mae Bennett Johnson. She was a member of Ebenezer AME Zion Church, where she worked on the kitchen committee and was also a former usher.
Surviving are four daughters, Annie Roberts of Sharon, Mary Roberts of York and Sarah Madison and Bobbie Green, both of New York City; her son, Kenny Thompson of New York City; three sisters, Alice Johnson and Roberta Glenn, both of Smyrna, and Cilla Reid of Hickory Grove; two brothers, Mackey Hall and Woodrow Hall, both of Charlotte; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mary T. Roberts, 303 Washington St.
The body may be viewed 6 to 7 to night at Wright Funeral Home, York, and will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Elvira Goodine
SENECA - Mrs. Elvira Josephine Mitchell Goodine, 82, of 414 Stribling St. Apt. 231 died Friday, April 6, 2001.
