Nettie Lee Summer Cromer
March 14, 2006

Nettie Lee Summer Cromer, 83, widow of Gilbert Freddie Cromer, formerly of Kinard Street, Newberry died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Cromer was born on June 29, 1922, in Lexington County, a daughter of the late John Daniel and Minnie Ola Rister Summer. She was a member of the Newberry Church of God.
Mrs. Cromer is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean Cromer of Newberry; two sisters, Ruth Yochem of Greenwood and Ruby Ellen McCartha of Little Mountain; and a brother, Willie Summer of Little Mountain. She was predeceased by a sister, Inez S. Price and a brother, Harry Summer.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home by Rev. Michael Causey. Interment was in the Newberry Memorial Gardens.
The family did receive friends on Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. at Whitaker Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were nephews.

Nellie Mitchell Hite
March 11, 2006

Nellie Mitchell Hite, 83, widow of Robert D. Hite, formerly of Kate Street, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Hite was born on July 16, 1922, in Rock Hill, a daughter of the late Morris and Inez Mitchell. She was a retired employee of Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beaufort and a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Newberry.
Mrs. Hite is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Campbell of Beaufort and Sandra and Frank Osborne of Lexington; one sister, Patsy Hamm of Newberry; two granddaughters and a grandson–in-law, Jennifer Campbell of Beaufort and Natalie and Eric Smith of West Columbia.
Graveside funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday at Newberry Memorial Gardens by Rev. Ronald Smith. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.

Daniel C. Dickert, Sr.
March 12, 2006

Daniel C. Dickert, Sr., 86, formerly of 1129 Leita St., Newberry, died Sunday, March 12, 2006 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Dickert was born on Oct. 11, 1919 in Newberry, a son of the late Yancey T. and Annie Sligh Dickert. He was the retired owner of Dickert’s Diesel and a former employee of Spott’s Construction Co. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the church choir and was the caretaker of the church property and was a former member of the Newberry Exchange Club.
Mr. Dickert is survived by his wife Lera Duncan Dickert of Newberry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel C. and Sandra Dickert, Jr. of Prosperity and Ronald C. and Rosemarie Dickert, Sr. of Newberry; two sons-in-law, Robert L. Forbis of Newberry and Leo F. Thomas, Jr. of West Columbia; two sisters, Harriett D. Smith of Winston-Salem, NC and Mary Louise Smith of Freehold, NJ; two brothers, Yancey J. “Jack” Dickert of Midland, MI and J. Roland Dickert of Newberry; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Peggy D. Forbis and Susan D. Thomas; two sisters, Nellie Blanche Dickert and Roberta D. West; one brother, William G. Dickert, and his stepmother, Elise Nash Dickert.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Kem Thomas. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be at the residence1129 Leita St., Newberry.
Memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church Building Fund, 511 O’Neal St., Newberry SC 29108.
Active pallbearers were Mark J. Kesler, C. Shannon Pollard, Ronald C. Dickert, Jr., Matthew R. Dickert, Kurt Diener, Andy Senn, Billy Dickert, and Paul West. Honorary pallbearers were Von Dennis and the members of the Ebenezer UMC Choir.

Mildred Boulware Reed

Mildred Boulware Reed, 87, widow of Sam F. Reed, died Monday, March 06, 2006 at Wallace Thomsom Hospital in Union.
Mrs. Reed was born on March 13, 1918 in Union County, a daughter of the late Howard and Selma Patterson Boulware. She was a retired employee of Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
She is survived by her grandson, A. Wayne Moates of Newberry. She was pedeceased by her daughter, Annie Mae Moates, two infant boys, and brother, Frank W. Boulware
Graveside funeral services were conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Rosemont Cemetery, Union by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe.

Willie Teechie Lybrand
Saturday March 4, 2006

Willie Teechie Lybrand, 78, of Newberry, died Saturday March 4, 2006 at the Dorn V. A. Hospital.
Mr. Lybrand was born on September 26, 1927 in Leesville, a son of the late Willie and Elva Miller Lybrand. He was a Navy veteran of WW II, a retired employee of G. E. in Irmo and Quality Wood Works in Newberry,and was a member of Church of God.
Mr. Lybrand is survived by his wife, Rebecca Shealy Lybrand of Newberry; a daughter, Stephanie Rowe and a son, Tony Lybrand, both of Newberry; two sisters and one brother-in-law Hazel and Richard Austin of West Columbia, and Isabelle Riley of Trenton one brother and sister-in-law Robert and Patsy Lybrand of Leesville; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Vernon Koon. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was from 5:30 to 7:00 PM Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Robert Bartley, Dean Dickert, Dalton Shealy, Craig Shealy, William Shealy and Jeremy Wease.

Lucile White Frick
March 2, 2006

Lucile White Frick, 95, of 1622 Wheeland School Road, Little Mountain, widow of Forest Lee “Buck” Frick, died Thursday, March 2, 2006,
at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Frick was born December 4,1910 in Newberry County, a daughter of the late W. F. and Mamie Frick White. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, WELCA, Alpha Circle, the Adult Sunday School Class, and the Primetimers.
Mrs. Frick is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Eleanor and Bennie Bush, Virginia Haltiwanger, and Dale and Dwain Wessinger all of Little Mountain: three sisters, Verna McKain and Evelyn Yarbrough both of Whitmire, and Mary McDuffie of Mooresville, NC; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by four sisters, Rosa Lee Campbell, Janie Livingston, Mildred Dominick, and Ethel Dowd; a brother, Clarence White, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Childers.
Funeral services were conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday at St Peter’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Tholstrup. Interment was in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036 or Lake Murray Rescue Squad, 559 Hollands Landing Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers were Steve Bush, David Bush, Douglas Haltiwanger, Jr., Brandon Wessinger, Joe Childers, Mac McKie, Joe Lassiter and Charlie Sease. Honorary pallbearers were Primetimers and Alpha Circle.

Troy W. Cotney, 76, of 862 Kendall Road, Newberry, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at the Lexington Medical Center.
Mr. Cotney was born on January 4, 1930 in Prosperity, a son of the late James N. and Florence Stockman Cotney. He was a retired employee of Greenwood Mills, Joanna Plant. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Amity Masonic Lodge # 87, and Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Mr. Cotney is survived by his wife, Katie Bell Derrick Cotney of Newberry; a son nd daughter-in-law, Bobby and Dianne H. Cotney of Newberry; a sister, Elizabeth C. Cohen of Ninety-Six; three brothers, Boyd Cotney of Newberry, and J.D. Cotney, and Birt Cotney, both of Prosperity; and two grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Cotney and Bryan Troy Cotney both of Newberry. He was predeceased by three sisters, Virginia Shealy, Ruby Huffstettler, and Etta Mae Dominick and three brothers, Virgil Lee Cotney, Nelson Cotney, and Ewell Cotney.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church by the Rev. Ronald Smith, The Rev. Wako Cotney, and Terry Cotney. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Bryan Troy Cotney, Terry Cotney, Wako Cotney, Dean Cotney, Toby Shealy, Steve Shealy, Melvin Dominick, Dale Dominick, and Charlie Huffstettler.

Tina Stuck Bishop
April 17, 2006

Tina Stuck Bishop, 44, 1408 Kate Street, Newberry, wife of Richard C. “Rick” Bishop, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Bishop was born on January 23, 1962 in Prosperity, a daughter of Charles R. and Betty Morris Stuck. She was an animal control officer with Newberry County, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Newberry. She was a collector of angels, many she made herself and was a lover of animals.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by her husband of Newberry; her parents of Newberry; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jason Kinard of Prosperity; two sons, Chuck Bishop and Brandall Bishop of Newberry; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Steve Griffin and Kay S. and Ricky Smith, all of Pomaria; a brother and sister-in-law, Danny Ray and Ann Stuck of Prosperity; and two grandchildren, Eric Alexander Bishop and McKenzie Lynn Kinard.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday at the First Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Kenneth Harmon.
Visitation was from 5:30 to 8:00 P. M. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family was at the residence, 1408 Kate Street.
Memorials may be made to Newberry County Animal Shelter, 11494 SC Hwy 34, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers were J. B. Willard, Von Dennis, Richard Hancock, Ezra Arnold, Johnny Willis, and Steve Bishop. Honorary pallbearers were Dave Shealy, Cass Peterson, Ken Oswald, Jerry Long, Mark Bishop, Scott Edgeworth and Todd Edgeworth.
