MANNING -- Azalee Josephine Baker Dickey McCray, 93, widow of Hazel Dickey and Willie McCray, died Oct. 18, 2004, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

Born Sept. 22, 1911, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Grant Baker and LuAlice Burgess Baker.

The family will receive friends at her residence, 1531 Little Star Road, Manning.

Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

GEORGE COLEMAN Sr.

LYNCHBURG -- George Coleman Sr., 56, died Oct. 16, 2004, at Narrow Paved Road, Lynchburg.

Born Sept. 24, 1948, in Sumter, he was a son of the late May June and Willie Mae Burgess Coleman.

The family will receive friends at the home of Ruth Govan, 1450 Narrow Paved Road, Lynchburg, SC 29080.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

JENNY KUKUCKA

Jenny Kukucka, 14, of Irmo, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004.

Plans will be announced by Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork, Irmo.

GLEN RUTENBURG

Glen Rutenburg died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at his home.

Services will be announced by Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory, 221 Broad St., Sumter.

JOEY KUKUCKA

Joey Kukucka, 17, of Irmo, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004.

Plans will be announced by Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo.

JOEY KUKUCKA

IRMO -- Funeral Mass for Joseph Ronald "Joey" Kukucka, 17, will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. with visitation until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joey died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004. Born in Kenmore, N.Y., he was the son of Joe J. Kukucka and Michelle Colyer. He was a student at Dreher High School, Columbia, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He loved sports and motorcycles.

Surviving are his father and stepmother, Gerri Haynes Kukucka of Irmo; his mother of Sumter; sister, Samantha Kukucka of Irmo; grandparents, Ronald and Sylvia Kukucka of Sanborn, N.Y., and Patricia and Dave Neamon of Bristow, Va.; step-grandparents, Jerry and Patricia Haynes of Williamson, W.Va.; nephew, Gage Kukucka of Irmo; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

JENNY KUKUCKA

IRMO -- Funeral Mass for Jennifer Pearl "Jenny" Kukucka, 14, will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be in the church cemetery.

Jenny died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004. Born in Lewiston, N.Y., she was the daughter of Joe J. Kukucka and Michelle Colyer. She was a student at Dutch Fork Middle School, where she was a member of Venturing Crew 312 and enjoyed rock climbing.

Surviving are her father and stepmother, Gerri Haynes Kukucka of Irmo; her mother of Sumter; sister, Samantha Kukucka of Irmo; grandparents, Ronald and Sylvia Kukucka of Sanborn, N.Y., and Patricia and Dave Neamon of Bristow, Va.; step-grandparents, Jerry and Patricia Haynes of Williamson, W.Va.; nephew, Gage Kukucka of Irmo; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

LUTHER WILSON Jr.

Luther Wilson Jr., 56, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 23, 1947, in Sumter County, the son of Anna Ruby Perry Wilson and Luther Wilson Sr. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and attended Eastern High School. At an early age, he attended Mulberry Baptist Church. Luther was united in holy matrimony to the late Evelena Leonard Wilson. This union was richly blessed with a loving daughter that he loved dearly. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed working and socializing. He was employed by T&N Septic Tank Co. for many years before his health failed.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving daughter, Diana Leonard Wilson and a son-in-law, Anthony Sean Murray, both of Mullins; a sister, Margaret (Phillip Glenn) Potts of Sumter; two grandchildren, Deanna Shante' Murray and Leann Rochell Murray, both of Mullins; three nieces, LaToya (Reginald) Golden of Sumter, Vicky Renee Jones of Anniston, Ala., and PeAngelia Jones of Orlando, Fla.; two nephews, Michael R. Wilson of Sumter and Derrick Jones of Orlando, Fla.; and a host of other relatives and dear friends that are deeply grieved by his passing.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a grandson, Anthony Sean Murray Jr.; a sister, Linda H. Jones; a brother, Pearly Lee Wilson; a nephew, Antonio Raheen "Tony" Potts; an uncle and aunt, William and Lutisha Perry.

Services for Mr. Wilson will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Sumter Funeral Service with the Rev. M.G. Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradford cemetery.

The funeral procession will leave the home of his niece and nephew, LaToya (Reginald) Golden, 264 Kinsey Drive, at 2:30 p.m.

The family is receiving friends at the same home, 264 Kinsey Drive.

Sumter Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

DANNY G. SELPH

Danny Glenn Selph, 58, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at his home.

Services will be announced by Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter.

MOSES COOPER Jr.

BISHOPVILLE -- Moses Cooper Jr. was born in Bishopville, on Dec. 21, 1937, to the late Moses Sr. and Eva Cooper. He was the youngest of four. He received his early education in the Lee County school system, attending Dennis High School, located in Bishopville. In the year of 1954, Moses relocated to Philadelphia. Moses was united in holy matrimony to Daisy Gainor and to this union five children were born.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy, and his oldest daughter, Sharon.

Moses worked at the sugar refinery for several years and later worked at the Bradley Boarding Home, where he retired. Moses, sometimes called Mos', loved to go fishing and work on cars. Those were his favorite pastimes.

God called Moses home on Oct. 10, 2004, after a lengthy illness.

He leaves to cherish his memories four children, Patricia, Charolette, Rodney and Deborah; six grandchildren, Tyrone, Tashika, Omar, Michael, Saudia and Asia; two sisters, Annie Lee Bradley of Philadelphia and Mary Lou Slatler of South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Katie Mae Cromwell; one brother-in-law, Issac Bradley; two aunts, Willie Gregg and Mary Fields, both of Newark, N.J.; one uncle, Frison Gregg; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Thomas Town cemetery with the Rev. Rodney James officiating. Burial will be in Thomas Town cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at 104 S. Heyward St., Bishopville.

Square Deal Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of arrangements.

ANTONIO THOMAS

BISHOPVILLE -- Antonio Thomas died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

Born in Lee County, he was the son of Woodrow Thomas and Dianne Smith Thomas. He attended Lee County public schools.

Surviving are one sister, Brenda R. Smith of Bishopville; one brother, Kevin T. McBride of Sumter; maternal grandmother, Annie Smith of Bishopville; paternal grandmother, Bertha Thomas of Bishopville; six aunts; 11 uncles; two nephews; three nieces.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church with the Rev. Julia V. Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at noon.

Square Deal Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of arrangements.

ELIZABETH WINDHAM

FLORENCE -- Elizabeth Windham, 18, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.

Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.

Miss Windham was born in Florence, the daughter of Jon and Frances Canady Windham of Florence. Elizabeth attended Hudgens Academy and graduated from Laurence Manning Academy. She was a student at Florence-Darlington Technical School. She was an employee of Craig's Used Cars of Florence and loved her work there. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church and was attending Peniel Baptist Church.

Surviving are her parents of Florence; a brother, Jordan, and sister, Sarah, both of the home; her maternal grandparents, Andrew and Pearleen Canady of Effingham; paternal grandparents, Henry and Phyllis Windham of Lynchburg; and her boyfriend, Matthew Webster of Timmonsville.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W. Palmetto St., Florence.

LISBON JACKSON

BISHOPVILLE -- Lisbon "NIP" Jackson died at his residence in Wisacky.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Boatwright Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of arrangements.

MABLE PEARSON

Mable Pearson, 87, wife of Jasper Pearson, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 1, 1917, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Hayes Peterson and Alice Zuell Peterson.

The family will receive friends at the home, 41 E. College St.

Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter.

GILBERT PRINCE

Gilbert Prince, 62, died Oct. 21, 2004, at his residence, 102 Vining St.

Born Dec. 10, 1941, in Lynchburg, he was a son of Marie Hardy Prince.

The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Theresa Sims, 965 Salters Town Road.

Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter.

AZALEE DICKEY-McCRAY

MANNING -- Azalee Josephine Baker Dickey-McCray, 93, widow of Hazel Dickey and Willie McCray, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

Born Sept. 22, 1911, in the New Zion section of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Grant Baker Sr. and Lou Alice Burgess Baker. She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. In her youth, she joined St. John AME Church, Workman community, where she served as class leader, missionary and president of St. John Joint Stock Lodge No. 711, Juvenile Chapter. She was a life member, serving 57 years of the Jordan Chapel Chapter No. 237 Order of Eastern Star. Later she joined Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she remained faithful and active until her death.

Survivors include six sons, Waldo (Thelma) Dickey of Reading, Pa.; the Rev. Jerome McCray of Manning, Lee Ernest (Johnnie Mae) McCray of Kingstree, Willard McCray and John McCray, both of New Zion, and William (Audrey) McCray of Baltimore, Md.; five daughters, Evelyn (Joseph) Witherspoon of Gable, Luethonia D. (David) Harper-Jackson of Bridgeport, Conn., Oretta D. (Joe) Durant of Reading, Pa., Violivette D. (David) Knight of Sumter and Willie Jean (Jervie) Singleton of New York, N.Y.; one brother, Hardy Baker of Manning; three grandchildren reared in the home, Anthony (Sonia) Dickey, Geneice (Hensford) Stewart and Hazel (Roseanne) Witherspoon; three great-grandchildren of the home, Xavier Thompson, Dalton Stewart and Gillian Stewart; 21 additional grandchildren; 55 additional great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers; two sisters; three sons, Dovell, Hazel and Jenerette Dickey; and one daughter, Cecelia McCray.

The Jordan Chapel Chapter No. 237 Order of Eastern Star rites will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John AME Church, Workman community, Kingstree, with the Rev. Dr. Franklin Reaves, pastor, officiating, the Rev. Dr. Cokley Richburg, eulogist, assisting the Rev. Dr. Marion Newton and the Rev. Isaiah J. Myers.

Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Chapel Masonic Lodge No. 338.

Floral bearers will be Jordan Chapel Chapter No. 237 Order of Eastern Star.

The family will receive friends at her residence, 1531 Little Star Road, Manning.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning is in charge of arrangements.
