Ozella Hightower

Ozella Hightower, 72, of 217 Weimer Street, Bamberg, died Saturday, September 15, 2007, at her home.

Funeral services will be announced by Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg.

The family will be greeting friends at the home of her daughter, Ella Mae McCaskell, 334 Weimer St., Bamberg.

James Daniel Turner

James Daniel Turner, 72, of 226 Binnicker Bridge Road, died Monday, October 29, 2007 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, in the St. George Baptist Church in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Jimmy Hanf officiating. Burial will be in the St. George Baptist Church Cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Turner was born April 22, 1935, in Cope, a son of the late Richard Watt Turner and Janie Griffith Turner. He was a member of St. George Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a former employee of Home Builders, Ballard Parts, Carolina Oil and Magnolia Farm.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine (Katie) Harrison Turner of Orangeburg; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jay and Kristi Turner of Cordova and Wattie Turner of Canaan Community; two sisters, Lillie T. Dyches of Cope and Jewel T. Phillips of Orangeburg; two grandchildren, Kaitlynn Turner and Ashlynn Turner, both of Cordova and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the residence, 226 Binnicker Bridge Road, Orangeburg and Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to Pulmonary Foundation, 1332 North Halsted, Suite 201, Chicago, Ill. 60622-2691 or TRMC Hospice, 1895 St. Matthews Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118 or to St. George Baptist Church, 2590 Shillings Bridge Road, Orangeburg, SC 29115.

Kelly A. McKeowen

Kelly Alyssa McKeowen, 15, of 9992 Old State Road, Cameron, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, October 26, at First Baptist Church in Elloree, with the Rev. Clark McCrary officiating. Burial will be in Santee Cemetery in Elloree.

Kelly was born October 9, 1992, at the Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of Cynthia Carter McKeowen and Charles Patrick McKeowen. Kelly was a member of First Baptist Church in Elloree. She loved her family, her church and her God. She served faithfully in the youth programs at her church. Kelly took much joy in the simple things in life, loving nature and the outdoors. She was a freshman at Calhoun Academy, where she was an avid basketball player. Kelly loved everyone and always had a winning smile and disposition. She will be greatly missed by a multitude of family and friends.

Survivors include her parents of the home; two brothers, Aaron Wesley McKeowen of the home and Taylor Anderson McKeowen of the home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Linnie R. (Annette) Sutcliffe of Norway; paternal grandfather, Beverly Hicks McKeowen of Fountain Inn; maternal aunts, Thea S. (Brad) Mason of North, Polly S. (Rodney) Fitzgibbon of Columbia, Julie S. (Jay) Reynolds of Gaston and Janet Sutcliffe on Norway; maternal uncles, Linnie R. (Brenda) Sutcliffe of Bonney Lake, Wash., Eddie (Louie) Carter of Columbia, Mark (Christi) Carter of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; paternal aunts, Ann (Gene) Sparr of Simpsonville, Connie (Rick) Upchurch of Easley, Sue Babb of Gray Court and Sarah (Frank) Wickliffe of Fountain Inn; paternal uncles, Joe (Dianne) McKeowen of Orangeburg and David (Joyce) McKeowen of Fountain Inn; and 24 cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Elloree. At other times, friends may call at the residence. Memorials may be made to Elloree First Baptist Church Youth Department, P.O. Box 387, Elloree, SC 29047.

Dukes-Harley Funeral Home of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.

Prince L. Myers

Prince L. Myers, 84, of 120 Race St., Bamberg, died Friday, October 19, 2007, at the Augusta VA Hospital, Augusta, Ga.

Funeral services will be announced by Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg.

Friends may call at the home.

Mary Koons Foos

Mary Elaine Koons Foos, 82, of 135 Cresent Oaks Court, died Friday evening, October 19, 2007, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 22, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Michael Okere officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Foos was born in Mansfield, Ohio, a daughter of the late Carl B. and Gladys Cole Koons. Mrs. Foos was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Josie and John Smudde, of Huntley, Ill, Linda and Mark McGannon, of Orangeburg and Marian Foos, of Orangeburg; grandchildren, Carrie McGannon Duffy and husband Jeff, Maureen Murray Lesak and husband Michael, Jennifer McGannon Bonnema and husband Ian, Michael S. Murray, Daniel P. McGannon and fiance Karrie Rector and Molly Jean Murray; great-grandchildren, Maya Hollis Duffy, Drew Ian Bonnema, Cooper Vaughn Duffy, Harry Lesak and Zoe Lesak.

The family extends their thanks for the love and care given by Judy Carson and United Hospice of Orangeburg during their mother's illness.

Family will receive friends at the residence, 135 Crescent Oaks Court, Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Palmetto Chapter, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia SC 29202-7044.

Ms. Dianne Jefferson

Funeral services for Ms. Dianne Jefferson, 54 of 1018 Glenfield Circle, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Warren Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willard S. Sabb officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Orangeburg.

The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Ms. Jefferson died October 16, after an extended illness.

She was born May 14, 1953, in Orangeburg, the daughter of Edna Jefferson and the late Marion Jefferson. She was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Joseph and Corine Jamison; paternal grandparents, Willie and Abbie Jefferson; two brothers, Joseph Jefferson and Eddie Jefferson.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her mother, Edna Jefferson; three daughters, Barbara Jefferson, Tonya J. Graves and Nicole Jefferson, all of Orangeburg; a son-in-law, George Graves of Orangeburg; six grandchildren, Courtney Backmon, Shamara Jefferson, Dondre' Backmon, Octavia Jefferson, Jimmie Mack, and Nicquiara Aiken, all of Orangeburg; two sisters, Shirley Jones and Marilyn Redish, both of Orangeburg; four brothers, Willie Jefferson, John Jefferson, Raymond Jefferson, and James Jefferson, all of Orangeburg; six special friends, Dorothy Bradley, Lucille Shuler, Gloria Miller, Mary Myers, David "Jack" Morgan and Willie Mae Holman, all of Orangeburg; one special niece, Gloria J. Frazier of Cordova; one special grandniece, Kayla M. Green of Orangeburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Barbara Jefferson, 149 Devine Court, Orangeburg or at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

Louis Rush

Louis Rush, 60, of 1776 Pineland St., Vance, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at his residence.

Mrs. June Margaret Johnson

Mrs. June Margaret Johnson, 83, of Newnan, Ga., beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away Oct. 14, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Stovall officiating. Interment will be in the Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

June lived life to the fullest, always giving, sharing and bringing joy to everyone she met. Her love for her family was bou.jpgul and unconditional. Our needs always came first. She will be deeply missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gust Frank Brown and June Edith Brown; brother, Leonard Brown.

She is survived by her daughters, Candace Johnson of Branchville, Susan Harris of Newnan; son, Richard Johnson and his wife, Sara, of Cumming; brother, Robert Brown and his wife, Ethel, of Columbia City, Oregon; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Parrott Funeral Home of Fairburn. (770) 964-4800.

James Dunbar Sr.

Funeral services for James Dunbar Sr., 68, of 318 Whaley Road, Blackville, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2007, in the Macedonia Baptist Church in Blackville, with the Rev. Floyd Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Blackville Cemetery in Blackville.

Mr. Dunbar died October 29, at his residence.

Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Green's Funeral Home of Blackville.

Mrs. Bessie Mae Quattlebaum

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Mae Quattlebaum, 88, of 413 A Villas Court, Columbia, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2007, in the Edisto Fork United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Hayes T. Gainey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Quattlebaum, daughter of the late Henry Lincoln and Annie Baxter Lincoln Adams, was born September 23, 1918, in Bamberg. She entered eternal rest on September 18. She was educated in the Orangeburg County public schools. At an early age, Mrs. Quattlebaum joined Jerusalem United Methodist, later named Edisto Fork United Methodist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, George (Martha) Quattlebaum of Hopkins, Willie Ray (Dorothy) Quattlebaum of Beloit, Wis. and David (Christine) Quattlebaum of Orangeburg; five daughters, Arvalett Quattlebaum of Brooklyn, N.Y., Betty Stevenson of Columbia, Dorothy Guinyard of Columbia, Annette Williams and Mary Louise Prince, both of Orangeburg; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Harper and Minnie Lee Adams, both of Orangeburg; 36 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Mary L. Prince, 118 Cue St., Orangeburg or at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
