Mary Shirley Yoakum -- Williston

Mary Shirley Yoakum, 71, of Williston, died Thursday, October 18, 2007, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Winnsboro.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20, in the Limestone United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wolfton, with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating.

Ms. Yoakum was born December 28, 1935, in St. Matthews. She was the daughter of the late Marvin Wilson Hammond and the late Girlie Cassidy Hammond. She was the widow of the late Silous Yoakum Jr.

Survivors include one son, Donald “Don” Yoakum of Williston; one brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Nell Hammond of Elloree.

Friends may call at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. Amanda Josephine Jones

Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda "Josephine" Jones, 66, of 1319 St. Ann St., will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2007, at Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. J. R. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Belleville Memorial Gardens, Orangeburg.

The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Jones died October 17.

Mrs. Jones, daughter of the late Adolph and Hazel Britt Murray was born on June 27, 1941, in Dorchester County. She was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County. At an early age she joined Jericho Baptist Church in Reevesville and after marriage, she joined Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Gospel Choir, Baptism Committee, and the Deaconess Board. She retired from Husqvarna Outdoor Products after working for 30 years.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her loving devoted children, Betty J. Jones, Rosa M. Jones and Eva LaVerne Jones, all of the home; two brothers, A. J. Murray of Reevesville, Eddie Murray of McClenny, Fla; three sisters, Emma Lewis of Bronx, N.Y., Alice Williams of Philadelphia and Mary Murray of Branchville; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Murray of Reevesville and Lillie Bell Jones of Orangeburg; two brothers-in-law, George Lewis of Bronx, N.Y. and the Rev. Lawrence Braddy of Orangeburg; six adopted daughters, Miranda Knight, Latasha Keitt, Cotrina Robinson, Dorothy Amicker, Clara Brooks, and Adrian Graves, all of Orangeburg; three adopted sons, Douglas Thomas, Darrell Thomas and Anthony Graves, all of Orangeburg; four special friends, Lovester Williams, Pearl Davis, Goldie West and Jessie Jones; two adopted grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Rose Jones, 1319 St. Ann St., Orangeburg or at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Calvin L. "Peanut Butter" Brailey

Funeral services for Calvin L. "Peanut Butter" Brailey, 52, of 5335 Savannah Highway, North, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007, at New Light United Methodist Church, Highway 4, Orangeburg, with Dr. Norman A. Brown officiating. Burial will be in the New Light's Shady Grove Cemetery in Neeses.

The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

Mr. Brailey died Saturday, October 13.

He was a son of the late John Henry Brailey and Mrs. Emma Lou Evans Brailey.

Survivors include his wife, Melva S. Brailey of Lexington; a son, Corllieus Colter of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a daughter, LaTonya Corder of Lexington; a stepdaughter, Cadedra Shivers of Lexington; Mrs. Hattie Darby, who was like a mother, of North; three brothers, Henry L. (Mary) Brailey Sr. of Neeses, John Richard (Ernestine) Brailey of North and Terry (Debbie) Brailey of Kileen, Texas; three sisters, Yvonne Brailey of Hempstead, N.Y., Ms. Noetta Brailey of Washington, D.C. and Madlene B. (Raymond) Stevenson of North; two grands and two stepgrands; aunt, Eloise Washington of Washington, D.C. and sister-in-law, Audrey W. Johnson of Neeses.

Viewing will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at W. B. Crumel Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the residence of his sister, Madlene B. (Raymond) Stevenson, 5335 Savannah Highway, North and at the funeral home.

Rudolph Solomon Mack

Rudolph Solomon Mack, 55, of 2700 65th Ave., North, Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis, died Friday, October 19, 2007, at Hennerpen County Hospital, Minneapolis.

Funeral plans will be announced by Bethea's Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Laverne Jones, 3791 Homestead Road, Bowman and at the funeral home.

Ms. Elsie Amaker

Ms. Elsie Amaker, 84, of 261 Summers Ave., died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the Regional Medical Center.

Funeral plans will be announced by Bythewood Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

John Henry Cooter Hart Sr.

Funeral services for John Henry "Cooter" Hart Sr., 62, of 508 Swansea Heights Ave., Swansea, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Octobere 19, 2007, at Gethesmane Baptist Church in North.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hart died Monday.

He was a son of the late Cain Hart Sr. and Mrs. Jessie Hart and was married to the late Mrs. Verta Mae Rowe Hart.

Viewing will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at W.B. Crumel Funeral Home of North.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bertha Pearline Nelson Darby

Mrs. Bertha Pearline Nelson Darby, 83, of 128 Franklin Street, and recently of Brooklyn, N.Y., died October 18, 2007, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Funeral services will be announced by Al Jenkins Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Margaret Pender Hutto

Margaret Pender Hutto, 87, of 724 Midway Street, Bamberg, died Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Bamberg County Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 25, in the Cooner Funeral Home Chapel in Bamberg, with the Rev. Donnie Delk officiating. Burial will follow in the Bamberg County Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be James Darnell Jr., David Darnell, Jason Carter, Derek Clements, Warren Armstrong, Bobby Kemp, Cornell Padgett and Charlie Bellamy.

Ms. Hutto was born October 31, 1919, in Springfield, a daughter of the late Johnny L. Pender and the late Emma Weimortz Pender. She was married to the late Robert Black Hutto. She was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Bamberg. Ms. Hutto worked for 35 years as a purchasing agent at the Bamberg County Hospital. She enjoyed cooking and baking cakes.

Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca H. and James Darnell; one son, Robert B. Hutto Jr.; six grandchildren, June and Bobby Kemp, James and Beth Darnell, David and Hilary Darnell, Marie Darnell, Carol and Derek Clements and Robyn and Jason Carter; great-grandchildren, Warren Armstrong, Samantha Armstrong, Maddie Kemp, Mason Darnell, Conner Darnell, and Logan Darnell.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, at Cooner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Bamberg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 443, Bamberg, SC 29003.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the home of James and Becky Darnell, 4085 Faust Street, Bamberg, SC 29003.

Henry Tyler

Funeral services for Henry Tyler, 65, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007, in the Sardis Missionary Baptist Church in Salley, with the Rev. J. R. Wise officiating. Burial will be in the Christian Hill Cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Tyler died October 19.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lorine Tyler of Salley; three sisters; one brother; a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, at Fulmer's Funeral Home of Springfield.

Friends may call at the residence or at the funeral home for further information.

Hazel Thompson Felder

Funeral services for Hazel Thompson Felder will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2007, at Branchville United Methodist Church in Branchville with burial at Rigby Cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service for visitation.
