Thomas Calvin Shuler -- Orangeburg

Funeral services for Thomas Calvin Shuler, 58, of 1638 Enderly Street, Orangeburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at St. John Baptist Church in Cameron, with the Rev. Dr. H. S. Capers officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Baptist Church Cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Shuler died Sunday, July 6, at his residence.

He was born November 3, 1950 in Cameron, to the late Mr. James and Lurline Shuler Moorer.

He will be missed by four sisters, Linda Moorer, Fannie Bonnette, Rosa (Johnathan) Fogle, all of Orangeburg and Lottie Moorer of Cameron; six brothers, Willie (Betty) Shuler, Willie James Moorer, both of Orangeburg, Samuel Moorer of St. Matthews, Thomas Moorer and James Moorer Jr., both of Cameron and Roger Lee Shuler of Bronx, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, John Bodrick of Orangeburg and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, at Al Jenkins Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence of his sister, Miss Lottie Moorer, 5778 Cameron Road, Highway 33, Cameron and at the funeral home.

Arthur Jamison

Arthur Jamison, 68, of 570 Selina Circle, Holly Hill, died Friday, May 16, 2008.

Funeral services will be announced by Eutawville Community Funeral Home.

Korey Andrew Moore

Korey Andrew Moore, 19, of Swansea, died Saturday, July 5, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, at Sardis Baptist Church with burial in the Gaston First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Chris Morgan; step-father, Dallas (Diane) Varnadore; sisters, Savanna Varnadore, Abbi and Karli Morgan; brothers, Justin and Derek Morgan; grandmother, Linda Roberta McGehee; grandfather, Sam Sharpe.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home.

Gwendolyn Diane Darnell

Funeral services for Gwendolyn Diane Darnell, 24, of 781 Oliver St., Bowman, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Bowman, with the Rev. Kevin F. Darby and the Rev. Ryan Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Bowman Memorial Cemetery in Bowman, directed by Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Active pallbearers will be Chance Spence, Nicolas Fox, Mitch Jackson, Larry Edward Bair Jr., Travis Cain, David Shealy, Tom Summers and David Faile.

Honorary pallbearers will be the First Baptist Church Prayer Group, Crystal Jackson, Cassie Fox, Rebecca Smoak, Courtney Spence, Jennifer Bair, Elizabeth Benskin, Mykala Ashe, Chloe Bair, Cameron Bair and Acteens of First Baptist Church.

Miss Darnell died Tuesday, June 24, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

She was born July 29, 1983, in Orangeburg, a daughter of William "Billy" Darnell and Kathryn Cooley Darnell. She was a 2004 graduate of Clemson University; a Registered Nurse at the Regional Medical Center; a member of the First Baptist Church of Bowman; Acteens Leader at First Baptist Church; and a member of the Bowman Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include her parents, William "Billy" and Kathy Darnell of Bowman; a brother, Alan Smith of Belton, Texas; her fiance, Daniel Bair of Orangeburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Family Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church of Bowman or to Acteens of First Baptist Church of Bowman, c/o Margaret Hutto, 3737 Charleston Highway, Orangeburg, SC 29115 or to Hospice of TRMC, 3000 St. Matthews Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118.

Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.

Cory Direll Fogle

Cory Direll Fogle, 25, of 526 Stilton Road, Orangeburg, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Palmetto Health Hospital.

Funeral services will be announced by Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.

Erick Marion E. Dickson

Funeral services for Erick Marion "E" Dickson, 27, of 2461 Charleston Highway, Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008 at New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Jerome Anderson and the Rev. Jimmie L. Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the Belleville Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.

The casket will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Zeigler, Anthony Pepper, Howard Johnson, Stephon Sistrunk, Delvin Oliver, Ryan Smith, Davis Thomas and Percell Dickson.

Mr. Dickson died Sunday, June 29, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

He was born July 18, 1980, in Stanford, Conn., a son of the Rev. Dr. Nancy Betty Buskey and Marion Dickson. He graduated from Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews. He furthered his education at Gupton Jones College of Funeral Services. "E" as he was affectionately known was CEO of E's Quality Tee's.

Extremely affectionate and loving to everyone in sight, he was a man of strength, direction and purpose. Erick was a devoted father to his son, Nazir. Erick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for art in the strictest sense. Erick received Christ as his personal Savior in the year 2000 under the direction of his mother, the Rev. Dr. N.B.S. Buskey.

To cherish his loving memory and dear legacy are his mother, the Rev. Dr. Nancy Betty Buskey of Orangeburg; his father, Marion Dickson of Greenwich, Conn.; one son, Nazir Dickson of Orangeburg; four brothers, Michael Dickson of Morcormick, Ronald (Towanna) Johnson D.D. of Columbia, Patrick Dickson of Wallerburg, Connecticut and Carl Dickson of Orangeburg; his godmother, Mrs. Sharon Zeigler of Orangeburg; a very dear friend, Zenobia Shuler of Orangeburg; six aunts, three uncle, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A wake will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence of his mother, the Rev. Dr. Betty Buskey, 243 Shadow Lawn Drive, Orangeburg, and at Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Willie L. Samuel Jr.

Funeral services for Willie "Billy" Leroy Samuel Jr., 78, of 1927 Myers Road, Orangeburg, will be held at noon, Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Lovely Hill Baptist Church in Holly Hill, with the Rev. W. J. Frierson officiating. Burial will be in the Belleville Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.

A tribute memorial service will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the church. The family will also receive friends one hour before the services on Thursday.

Mr. Samuel died Sunday, June 29, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born in Wilmington, N.C. on November 21, 1929, to the late Willie and Lucille Samuel. In December 1958, he married Mildred L. Cain and to this union, three children were born. He was a member of the Lovely Hill Baptist Church, where he served as Chairperson of the Deacon Board until his death. Active in many Christian, Masonic, and community organizations, he worked and served in various leadership capacities. He was dedicated to his church, community, and Masonic associations. Willie always held a place in his heart for children, family and friends.

Mr. Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 49 years; one daughter, Yakima (Willie) Hayes of Atlanta; two sons, Antonio (Rachel) Samuel of Spotsylvania, Va., and Willie Frank (Monica) Samuel of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, Chymere A. Hayes of Atlanta, Willie Christophe Samuel of Chandler, Ariz. and Kevin Samuel of Fredericksburg, Va.; two brothers, one sister, and a cousin/sister, one brother and sister-in-law, and a host of relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the residence and at Bythewood Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to the Lovely Hill Baptist Church, Holly Hill, in memory of Willie L. Samuel Jr.
