David 'Bee' Kennerly

Funeral services for David “Bee” Kennerly, 91, of 117 Cardinal Road, Elloree, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Brown Chapel AME Church in Cameron, with the Rev. Rufus Gaymon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at noon on Saturday.

Mr. Kennerly died Jan. 20, at the Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Elloree, a son of the late Ervin Kennerly and Mary Russell Kennerly.

Those left to cherish loving memories are five daughters, Lou Queen (Eddie) Shuler, Mary K. Frederick, Margaret (William) Johnson, all of Elloree; Terry Kennerly of the home and Emma Nell (Jerry) Randolph of Philadelphia; one son, Robert Kennerly of Elloree; two grandchildren raised in the home, Tyheachea and Chastonio of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters-in-law, Barbara Kennerly and Idella Kennerly of New York; 32 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Joe Bookhardt of New York; three sisters-in-law; Carrie Kinley of Elloree, Ruby Dix of Sumter and Mannie Morton of New York; caretakers, Vernette Zeigler and granddaughter Tomeka Evans, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the residence and Al Jenkins Funeral Home in Elloree.

Friends may call at the residence and funeral home.

Ms. Betty Joeann Yon

Funeral services for Ms. Betty Joeann Yon, 63, of 143 Edisto St., North, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Highway No. 4, Neeses, with the Rev. Freddie Smith Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at noon.

Ms. Yon was born Feb. 6, 1945, in Neeses, to the late Joseph Yon Sr. and Essie Lue Hartwell Yon. She was a lifelong member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Usher Board. She received her education in the public schools of Orangeburg County. Ms. Yon was a retired hotel custodian.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: one son, Minister W. C. (Geneva) Yon of North; one sister, Ms. Ada M. Yon of the home; two brothers, Joseph Yon Jr. of the home and David (Gail) Yon of North; one special sister, Mrs. Thelma (Danny) Ritter of Orangeburg; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at W. B. Crumel Funeral Home of North.

Friends may call at the residence of her son, 119 Pettons Lane, North, and at the funeral home.

Jonathen 'Monk' Mack

Funeral services for Jonathen "Monk" Mack, of 105 Lane Morgan Drive, Apartment No. 111, North, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at St. John Church of God, 510 Iva Road, North, with Bishop L. W. Mintz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at noon.

Mr. Mack was born April 5, 1934, in North, to the late Mr. Edgar Mack and Mrs. Crysta Bell Jones Mack. He was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County.

Survivors include and adopted son, Juwarren Mack; one brother, Mr. Man Mack of North; one sister, Mrs. Leola Brown of North; four stepdaughters and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at W. B. Crumel Funeral Home of North.

Friends may call at the residence of his brother, Mr. Man Mack, 297 Sweetbriar Lane, North and at the funeral home.

William M. "Bill" Brasington Sr.

William Marcus "Bill" Brasington Sr., 79, of 1307 Edwards Road, Woodruff, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

A native of Bennettsville, he was the son of the late Charles Norman and Gladys Carlisle Brasington and the widower of Virginia Carolyn Townsend Brasington. A lifelong Presbyterian, Bill was active in Sunday School Programs and in Men's Club activities. Over 45 years, he served as deacon and elder in several churches, including, First Presbyterian Church of Bennettsville, First Presbyterian Church of Cheraw, First (Scots) Presbyterian Church of Charleston, First Presbyterian Church of Denmark and at the time of his death he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodruff. He served as a City Councilman in Bennettsville and was active in the Kiwanis Club, Lion's Club and the Woodmen of the World.

Mr. Brasington was a graduate of Bennettsville High School and continued professional development in courses taken through the American Institute of Banking and along with his late wife, Carolyn, served on the Parents Advisory Council at Wofford College in Spartanburg.

Bill was a retired banker, beginning his career with Marlboro Trust Company, and then owned the W.M. Brasington Insurance Agency. He returned to banking and worked for several South Carolina banks, including, Anderson Bank of Dillon, People's Bank, First Citizens Bank and Trust, South Carolina National Bank and he retired from First National Bank of Denmark.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-laws, Carol Brasington Wilson and her husband William Randolph Wilson of Greenville, Barry Brasington Prince and her husband Timothy Scott Prince of Lexington, Ky.; one son and daughter-in-law, William Marcus "Bill" Brasington Jr. and his wife JoAnn Mitchell Brasington of Woodruff; six grandchildren; Ann Carolyn Brasington, William Frank Prince, John Randolph Wilson, Robert Scott Prince, Abbey Elizabeth Brasington and William Daniel Brasington.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Woodruff by the Rev. Elizabeth "Beth" Hoskins. A committal service will be held in Bennettsville at 4 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 507 E. Main St., Bennettsville, SC 29512.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 23, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Lanford Funeral Home, 257 North Main St., Woodruff.

The family is at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and JoAnn M. Brasington, 249 Workman Drive, Woodruff.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Adult Learning Center, 145 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, Wofford College, 429 N. Church St., Spartanburg, S.C. 29303, First Presbyterian Church, 360 E. Georgia St., Woodruff, SC 29388 or a charity of one's choice.

Christopher Dorch Jr.

Christopher Dorch Jr, affectionately called "Nanny Goat", of Blackville, homegoing celebration will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Blackville-Hilda High School Auditorium, Blackville, with the Rev. McKinnley Neal and the Rev. Beverly Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Hope Memorial Garden Cemetery, Barnwell.

Family and friends may call at the residence of his mother, Ms. Sherilyn "Becky" Hammonds at 4737 Legion Road, Blackville or the Simmons Funeral Home of Williston, Inc. 13188 Main St., Williston, S.C. 29853.

Ms. Corine Simpson

Funeral services for Ms. Corine Simpson, 75, formerly of 178 Bobby St., Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Simmons Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Odell Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the Heavenly Rest Memorial Park in Cordova.

Ms. Simpson, daughter of the late Marion Simpson and Anna Simpson was born on March 10, 1933. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Jan. 18, at the UniHealth Post Acute Care of Orangeburg.

At an early age she joined Emanuel AME Church. She was educated in Orangeburg County Public Schools.

She leaves to cherish fond memories one sister, Lila B. Simpson and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Friends may call at the residence of her sister, Lila B. Simpson, 878 Bobby St., Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Robert E. Borg

Funeral service for Robert E. Borg will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg with burial at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 1012 Whitman St., Orangeburg, S.C. 29115.
