Mary Cogdill
WEST COLUMBIA — Graveside services for Mary Elizabeth Williams Cogdill, 86, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Woodridge Memorial Park. Officiating will be Dr. Ed Carney. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Community Hospice, 3096 Sunset Blvd., Columbia, SC 29169, Christ United Methodist Church, 410 N. Mrs. Cogdill died Friday, January 21, 2005, in Agape Senior Community Center. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Jennie Freeman Williams. She was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Lloyd Cogdill; son and daughter-in-law, William Cogdill Jr. (Kathy) of Lexington; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrell Ferrell (Rick) of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

SWANSEA — Services for Cilla Mae Wannamaker Bates, 84, of 810 Huckabee Mill Road, Swansea, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2005, at Mt. Moriah AME Church, Highway 176, Swansea, South Carolina, with burial in Mt. Moriah AME Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at A.P. Williams Funeral Home, Columbia.
Mrs. Bates, born in Calhoun County to the late Clara Jones Wannamaker and the late Bouregard Wannamaker, died Monday, January 17, 2005, in Providence Hospital, Columbia. She Served as Class Leader, Treasure of Church School; Member of the Gospel Choir; Member of Stewardess Board #2; Member of Missionary Society and Women Home Christian Union; Employed for many years of Crystal Linen Service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home and other times at 810 Huckabee Road, Swansea, SC.
Surviving are her son, William E. Bates Sr.; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; Sister in Laws; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her spouse, Jimmie Lee Bates.

BISHOPVILLE — Mary Brown, 83, widow of Thornton Brown, died Thursday, January 20, 2005, in McCoy Memorial Nursing Center.
Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Horace Pickney Dority and the late Mary Atkinson Dority.
She was a member of the Ashwood Nazarene Church.
Survivors include three grandsons, Richard Elmore of Bishopville, Woody Elmore of Sumter, and Hank Elmore of Summerville; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian B. Elmore and a son-in-law, Henry A. Elmore.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. T.W. Mitchell and Rev. Nathaniel Brown officiating.
Burial will be in the Ashwood Nazarene Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at 1152 Jamestown Road, Bishopville.
