RIDGEWAY — Services for Mr. E. Leroy Saylor are 1 p.m. Thursday (viewing at noon) at Francis Burns U.M.C. with burial in Lincoln Cemetery. Leevy's Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel is in charge. Surviving are his wife, Celia Saylor; daughters, Elizabeth Saylor-Wright, Paula Saylor-Robinson; son, Minister Leroy Durant; sisters, Emma Saylor-Abel, Willie Dean Patterson; brothers, Woodrow and James Hodges.

AIKEN — Services for C. Lorraine Prestegaard, 80, widow of Lewis Prestegaard, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church; burial in Union Cemetery, Lee, Ill. Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Shabbona Township, Ill, to Clifford and Helen Tysdale Kittleson, she died August 10, 2004. LANCASTER — Services for William Francis Marshall, 68, retired from Bowater, 2 pm Thursday at St. Luke UMC; burial with military honors and Masonic rites: church cemetery; visitation 6-8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home. Born in Lancaster to John and Mary Bailey Marshall, he died August 9, 2004. Surviving: wife, Myra; parents; son, Clifford; siblings, David Marshall, Elsie Phillips, Rachel Brashear, Diane Criminger.

Robert Jenkins

EASTOVER — Services for Mr. Robert Jenkins will be held 2 p.m. Thursday (viewing at 1 p.m.) at St. Matthews Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Leevy's Funeral Home, Lower Richland Chapel is in charge. Surviving are his sisters, Carrie Williams, Estelle Yong, Rosa Lee Williams, Daisy Sumter, Annie Lowman, and Annie Mae Belton; brothers, Tony, Jessie, Sam, and Basil Lowman.

Mickey Jordan

ROCK HILL — A memorial service for Bennie “Mickey” Pearson Jordan, widow of James Jordan, 69, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. Born in Anderson to Ben and Dora Parnell Pearson, she died August 9, 2004. She was owner/operator of M.J.’s Antiques and Collectibles and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are son, Ben Jordan; sister, Carolyn Jaynicke; 3 grandchildren.

Kate Grant

ATHENS, Ga. — Memorial services for Kathryn Anne “Kate” Grant, 29, will be held at Shandon United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 14, 2003 at 2 o’clock. The family will receive friends in the Wesley Fellowship Hall following the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Kate died in Wilkes County, Georgia, on July 31, 2004. Born in Athens, Georgia on February 20, 1975, she was the daughter of G. Randall Grant and Suzanne Stackhouse Grant. Upon transferring from the pre-veterinary program at the University of Georgia after two years of study, she entered as a junior in the inaugural 4-year Veterinary Technologist degree program at Newberry College, where she became the program’s first graduate. She was a veterinary technologist for the Exotic Animal, Wildlife, and Zoological Medical Service at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional associations included the Georgia Veterinary Technical and Assistant Association, the North American Veterinary Technical Association and the Chi Beta Phi science honorary fraternity. She was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church.

Having been involved in many aspects of theater at Dreher High School, she carried that interest with her both to Newberry and in her post-graduate life. Kate was an active participant in the Society for Creative Anachronism. She was an avid outdoors person, delighting in camping, boating, kayaking, water and snow skiing. She marveled at the natural world and all of its creatures. Kate was a teacher, an enthusiastic leader, devoted daughter and loyal friend. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Surviving are her father and mother of Columbia; brother, Tracy Randall Grant of Savannah, Ga.; a niece, Mary Joyce Morris Grant of Southern Pines, N.C.; maternal grandmother, Mary Teal Stackhouse of Columbia, and paternal grandmother, Mildred Nesmith Grant of Andrews; her extended family includes Carol Elizabeth Stackhouse of Hartsville, Charlotte Stackhouse Broome and Michael C. Broome, Ph.D. of Columbia, Pamela Grant Lesesne and Peter C. Lesesne of Andrews, Deborah Grant Barwick and Lawrence R. Barwick of Cameron and their families; her great aunts and numerous cousins were a joy to Kate and are a comfort to her family. Predeceasing her were her maternal grandfather, The Reverend William C. Stackhouse and paternal grandfather, Mr. George Banks Grant, Jr.

The family asks that memorials be sent to UGA Foundation’s Wildlife Treatment Fund, UGA College of Veterinary Medicine, Dean’s Office, Athens, GA 30602.

H.E. Hollis Sr.

MONCKS CORNER — Entered into eternal rest after a brief illness on the morning of August 14, 2004, H.E. “Ed” Hollis, Sr., widower of Mary Elizabeth Brown Hollis. They were married for 59 years and she passed away on March 23, 1999. Residence, Moncks Corner, South Carolina. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services in J. Henry Stuhr Inc. North Area Chapel, 2119 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC, Tuesday afternoon, August 17, 2004, at one thirty o’clock. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call in Stuhr’s North Area Chapel this (Monday) evening, August 16, 2004 between the hours of six and eight o’clock.

Mr. Hollis was born January 30, 1924 in Mobile, Alabama, a son of the late Hugh L. and Agnes Cottrell Hollis. He was a retired diesel engine mechanic for the shipyards. Mr. Hollis was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII with service in North Africa, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3142 and a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17.

Mr. Hollis is survived by his sister, Lucy Mae Brown of North Charleston, SC; for sons, Horace E. Hollis, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, James R. Hollis of Smyrna, DE, Michael A. Hollis of Hopkinsville, KY and Timothy C. Hollis Sr. of Walterboro, SC; four daughters, Barbara H. Ballard of Walterboro, SC, Andrea J. Williams of North East, MD, Gladys P. Sill and Donna H. Dunn, both of Moncks Corner, SC; twenty three grandchildren; forty two great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 3896 Leeds Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405.

James Mixon

CHERAW — Mr. James Wilson Mixon, 86, died Monday, August 16, 2004. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 18, 2004, in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dennis Wallace officiating.

Mr. Mixon was born in Estill, SC, on December 10, 1917, the son of the late Beulah Trowell and William Michael Mixon. He lived most of his life in Cheraw, SC. Mr. Mixon served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater as a U.S. Marine fighting in Guadalcanal. He retired from James Fabrics, Burlington Industries after 37 years of service. He was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church serving as Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. Mr. Mixon was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Boan Mixon, his sister, Eudell Matheson, and brother, Herbert Mixon.

Survivors: 2 son, James Wilson Mixon, Jr. and wife Barbara of Rome, GA, and Michael Luther Mixon and wife Robin of Panama City Beach, FL; 1 daughter, Miriam Mixon Burn and husband Steve of Columbia, SC; 4 grandsons, James and Shane Mixon of Atlanta, GA, Chip Burn and wife Betsy of Columbia, SC and Corey Mixon of Panama City Beach, FL; 1 great grandson, Connor Patton Burn.

Memorials: 1. Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 100 Murray Dr., Cheraw, SC 29420 2. Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709 or 3. charity of ones choice;

Frieda Ott

MT. PLEASANT — Frieda Stacer Ott entered into eternal rest on the evening of August 13, 2004 at the age of 92 while living in the Charleston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Pleasant. SC.

She is the daughter of the late Florida Belle Holmes Stacer and Geddy G. Stacer, born on November 3, 1911 in Devereaux, Georgia. She was married to Jeff David Ott, from Branchville, SC in October 2, 1930. She retired as Accounting Technician from the Charleston Naval Supply Center on February 2, 1973 after more than 27 years of service.

Funeral service will be at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Eleven Thirty O’clock. Interment, Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Ott is survived by three daughters: Anne Geraldine O. Harrelson of Charleston, SC; Ouida Blanche Ott, Columbia, SC; Frieda Stacer O. McGee of Ramer, Alabama; five grandchildren: Sheryl Anne H. Hartwell of Wilmington, NC; Jack Carlton Harrelson, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Rebecca Lynne H. Coulter of Columbia, SC; Lori Lee M. Lowery of Clayton, NC; Jeffery Andrew McGee of Jacksonville, FL; and seven great grandchildren: Randall Chad Hartwell, Jr. of Charleston, SC; Jennifer Glynne H. Bennett, of Wilmington, NC; Maggie Rush Harrelson of Charleston, SC; David Garrett Lowery and Zachary Dylan Lowery of Clayton, NC; David Frank Coulter and Macey Anne Coulter of Columbia, SC.

Claudean Jones

SALUDA — Services for Claudean T. Jones, 57, are 2:30 Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with burial in Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Logan Funeral Home is in charge. Born to James and Grace Thomas, she died Aug. 14, 2004. Surviving are husband, Johnnie Jones; children, Denise Moye, Yolanda, Michael, Johnny, Roderick, Christopher Jones; siblings, Earnest, Shirlean Thomas, Helen Johnson.

Emilia Alino

COLUMBIA — Services for Emilia Uzoechi Alino, 62, are 6 p.m. today at A.A. Dicks Funeral Home, Sullivan Chapel, with burial Saturday in Alino Compound, Imo, Umuodu Village, Nigeria. She died August 13, 2004. Surviving are her husband, Nelson; children, Emeka, Nelson Alino, Felicia, Nkechi, Ifeoma; brothers, Bathelomew, Paul, Kevin, Leonard; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews and others.

Mary Blocker

COLUMBIA — Services for Mary Ray Blocker will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home with burial in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Born in Barnwell to Wash and Ada T. Ray, she died August 10, 2004. Surviving are her children, Danny, Willie Mae, Mae Frances, Dorothy, Shirley, Mary Ann, and Patricia; grandchildren.

Born to Thomas Simmons and Mozell Burgess, he died Aug. 13, 2004. Surviving are mother; siblings, Dorothy Lewis, Bertha Pernell, Joann, Nathaniel, Willie Burgess, Betty Ingram, Ernestine Pinckney, Thomas Simmons.

Moses Dingle

SUMTER — Services with burial for Deacon Moses Dingle, 88, are 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Holiness Church. Williams Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Charleston to Moses and Hattie Dingle, he died Aug. 12, 2004. Surviving: wife, Alberta Dingle; children, Eula, Moses Jr., Arthur, Henry, John, Stanley, Mark Dingle, Ethel Jones, Hattie Green, Bertha Cohen, Sandra Simon, Rosie Hawkins; 26 grandchildren.

Margaret Chappelle

GREENWOOD — Services with burial for Margaret Catherine Chappelle, 80, widow of Fate Wideman and William Chappelle, 2 p.m. Wednesday (viewing 1 p.m.) at Calvary Grove Baptist Church; visitation 7-8 tonight at Robinson & Son Mortuary. Born in McCormick Co. to Manus Brown and Essie Hogan, she died Aug. 14, 2004. Surviving are 10 children; 2 sisters; 38 grandchildren; 65 great, 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Nancy Graham

LANCASTER — A graveside service for Nancy Euphemia Graham, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Douglas Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home. Born in Lancaster to William and Bessie Caskey Graham, she died August 16, 2004. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and the Joy Club. Surviving are her sisters, Mary Walters, Eunice Bennett.

Evelyn Fuoto

IRMO — Evelyn Louise Fuoto, 82, of Harbison Hall Assisted Living, passed away Monday, August 16, 2004, at Palmetto Health Baptist Medical Center after a long courageous battle with congestive heart problems.

Born February 25, 1922 in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Fuoto was a daughter of the late Adelaide Wilhshusen Pechillo and Henry Pechillo. She lived in Levittown, Long Island, New York, until 1983, later moving to Columbia with her husband for retirement. She was a devoted and loving Christian wife, mother and grandmother and a delight to all who knew her.

Surviving are her loving husband of sixty-one years, Mario Fuoto, a veteran of WW II, of Irmo; her beloved brother, Henry Pechillo of Lakewood, N.J.; her loving sons, Richard Donald Fuoto of Long Island, N.Y., William Ronald Fuoto of Neptune, N.J. and Ronald James Fuoto of Irmo; daughters-in-law, Jeanine Fuoto, Kathryn Fuoto and Noel Fuoto; grandchildren, Kara Closius and Lora Fleming; great-granddaughter expected, Megan Elizabeth Fleming; step-grandchildren, Mary-Noel and Andy with step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Dybing.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. A private memorial service will also be held in New Jersey at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “Sharing God’s Love,” c/o St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Irmo, S.C.

The family wishes to thank the doctors of Senior Primary Care of Parkridge and staff of Palmetto Health Baptist Medical Center for their compassion, love and care during Evelyn’s recent hospital stay.
