Marcia Denise “Princess” Bradley died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Washington , D.C. A native of Bishopville, she was a daughter of Bernice I. Bradley and the late Phillip E. Bradley. Survivors besides her mother of Bishopville include three sisters and their husbands, Gwendolyn and Steve Willemann of Berlin, Germany, Odessa and Victor Bibbins of Chesapeake, Va., and Valerie and Lewon Thomas of Lawrenceville Ga.; nieces, Olivia and Vaughan Willemann and Abrielle Thomas; nephews, Issa and Immanuel “Godson” Bibbins and Malcolm Isiah Thomas; a goddaughter, Miecia Hill-Bean; and godparents, Mr. and Mrs. I.C. Joe Sr., of Bishopville and Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo McCready of Maryland. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at New Zion AME Church in Wisacky with the Rev. F.W. Spears, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church’s Memorial Gardens. The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the services. Retired Lt. Col. U.S.A.F. Edgar Hunter Hill, 72, husband of Dorothy Raffield Hill, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, in Germantown, Tenn. Upon retirement, he was a pilot with Federal Express. Survivors include his wife. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Harvey Hill. Memorial services were held in Germantown, Tenn.

Annette McFadden, 40, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 9, 1958, she was a daughter of Tilman McFadden and Sadie Williams Boone. The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, 316 South St. Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc.

ALCOLU — James Franklin “Bo” McFadden, 75, widower of Rebecca Murray McFadden, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. Born April 3, 1923, in Danville, Va., he was a son of the late Amanda Brown. He was reared by the late Humphries and Miami McFadden. Mr. McFadden attended the public schools in Danville and Clarendon County. He was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Willie McFadden of Columbia; five daughters, Julie McFadden of Sumter, Sarah Ellen McCray of Alcolu, Hattie J. McFadden and Cilla Mae Wesby, both of Miami, Fla., and Earnestine Tyler of Jersey City, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Green Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. James S. Hundley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Thomas and Sarah McCray, Route 1, Box 60, Hotel Street, Alcolu. Mae Hudson Rodgers, 88, widow of Reid Manning Rodgers, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at her home. Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward Hudson and Harriett Elizabeth “Hattie” Shorter Hudson. Mrs. Rodgers was a member of First Church of God on Wise Drive. She was retired owner and operator of Rodgers Groceries for 25 years. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Coleen R. and Adrian Ingram of Sumter; two sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin R. and Margaret F. Rodgers and L. Wayne and Elaine B. Rodgers, all of Sumter; two brothers, Marvin Hudson of Sumter and John Thomas Hudson of Pinewood; seven sisters, Lila Elmore of Darlington, Ruby White of Sumter, Ida Geddings of Camden, Trudie McLeod of Sumter, Ruth Rodgers of Sumter, Docia Keech of Seabrook, Texas , and Mildred Lumpkins of Leoma, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Tammy Ingram Morris, Capt. Reid Rodgers, Wayne Rodgers Jr., Laura Rodgers Mahoney, Renee’ Rodgers, Mark Smith and Melanie Grainger; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Gilbert Rodgers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bower and the Rev. W.T. White officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. Wilhelmenia Wilson Waldon, wife of Herald N. Waldon Sr., died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born July 26, 1998, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Wilson. Mrs. Waldon was reared in Clarendon County. She attended Stonehill Elementary and Lincoln High School. In her youth, she became a member of Union Station AME Church. Later, she was converted and baptized into the Seventh-Day Adventist truth in 1970. Survivors besides her husband include three sons, Herald Jr. of Sanford, Fla., Brent of Lantana, Fla., and Andre of Lexington; two daughters, Monique Waldon of Sumter and Rosalyn Hamilton of Riverside, Calif.; two adopted daughters, Laura Plowden and Verna McKnight; two brothers, William Wilson Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., and John Wilson of Sumter; two sisters, Mary Green of Philadelphia, Pa., and Susan Wilder of Sumter; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A wake service will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist Church, Huggins Street, Manning. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Berea Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Sumter, with Elder Benjamin Cummings and Elder Emmanuel Jackson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park. Deacons of the church will be pallbearers, and deaconesses of the church will be floral bearers. REMBERT — Houston M. “Luggie” Council, 72, husband of Carrie L. Council, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998. He was a son of the late Charles Sasor Council and Sallie Moses Council. He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County. He was a certified carpenter and a World War II veteran. Survivors besides his wife include three sons, Andrew Council, Charles Council and William Eugene Council, all of Rembert; three daughters, Frances Wade, Thomasina Council and Ophelia Champagne; six brothers, Julian H. Council of Virginia, Edsol Council and Charles Council of Philadelphia, Dr. Douglas M. Council of Maryland, and Ralph Council and Tex Council of Connecticut; four sisters, Sallie C. Boykin and Alice C. Witherspoon of Sumter and Edna Council and Eva Council Bridgeport of Connecticut; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie D. Dennis officiating, assisted by the Rev. Anthony L. Taylor. LATTA — James Goddard Monroe, 88, husband of Elizabeth Bennett Blakely Monroe, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Mullins Nursing Center after an illness. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Latta Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Robert Maclin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. The service will be directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home of Marion. Mr. Monroe was born Nov. 26, 1909, in Latta, a son of the late Marion McKay Monroe and the late Martha Estelle Goddard Monroe. Mr. Monroe was a public accountant. He attended Presbyterian College. Mr. Monroe was a charter member and past president of the Latta Rotary Club. He was a member of the Latta Presbyterian Church, where he had been a deacon, treasurer and elder. Survivors besides his wife include one son, Dr. James G. Monroe Jr., of Coconut Creek, Fla.; one daughter, Libby Monroe Aiken of Allentown, Pa., formerly of Sumter; two grandsons, Stephen Kirk Aiken and Cameron James Aiken; and two granddaughters, Lt.j.g. Amy Elizabeth Monroe and Sarah Louise Monroe. Mr. Monroe was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Frances Monroe Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Latta Presbyterian Church.

Sammie Wright Young, 95, widow of Joseph Young, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
