Willie James Page Jr.

EDGEFIELD — Mr. Willie James Page Jr., 66, of 590 Hwy. 378 East, husband of Annie Ruth Rhynes Page, passed away Dec. 5, 2000, at his residence.
Born in Greensboro, Ala., he was a son of the late Willie James and Melnea Waller Page. He was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church where he served on the Senior Choir. He was a member of the Trustee Board and a mason. He was a retired employee of Federal Paper Board.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, Patrick Page of Edgefield, Robert Wiggins of Colorado Springs, Colo., Joe Clark of Greensboro, Ala. and Donald Page of Long Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Carrie Sawyer of Greensboro; two stepsons, Joe Stevens of Trenton, S.C. and Malvin Stevens of Upper Marlboro, Md.; three stepdaughters, Margaret Abney of Johnston, , Betty Weaver of Saluda and Iris Wilson of Ward; four brothers, Melvin Page of Orangeburg; Stonewall Page and Robert A. Cannon, both of Cincinnati, Ohio and Joshua C. Page of Norfolk, Va.; 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Butler and Sons Funeral Home, Saluda, which is in charge.

Eugene (Cricket) Brownlee

ABBEVILLE — Eugene (Cricket) Brownlee, of 203 McGawan St., husband of Tommie Mae Chiles-Brownlee, passed away Dec. 5, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Leola Paul and Alex Hunter. He was a member of Flat Rock AME Church in Abbeville and a staff member of Abbeville Mortuary.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kimberly London; a son, Kevin Brownlee; three brothers, Early Brownlee, Ernest Brownlee and Jesse Hamilton; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 Friday at Flat Rock AME Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Richard C.K. Harkness.
Memorials may be made to Abbeville Mortuary, 100 White Hall St., Abbeville, SC 29620.
Abbeville Mortuary is in charge.

Thomas Cromer

GREENWOOD — Thomas Abner Cromer, 79, of Hwy. 221 S., passed away Dec. 5, 2000, at Magnolia Manor.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Willie C. and Sallie Dominick Cromer. He was retired from Coca-Cola, Greenwood Plant, and was a retired cattle farmer. He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a sister, Sarah C. Dalton of Hodges; and a brother Herbert Cromer of Greenwood.
Services will be at 3 Friday at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Debra Griffis-Woodberry and Hoyt Graham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Shirley, Larry Ethridge, Carroll Ethridge, Billy Burton, Dan Warner and James M. Gardner.
Honorary escorts will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of the Church.
Visitation is from 2-3 Friday at Rehoboth United Methodist Church.
The family is at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 1808 Callison Hwy, Greenwood, SC 29646.

David Dumont

GREENWOOD — David Albert Dumont, 57, of 508 Colonial Drive, husband of Virginia Smith Dumont, passed away Dec. 6, 2000, at his home.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Bill Gray

GREENWOOD — William Gladstone “Bill” Gray, 77, of 406 Clairmont Drive, husband of Kathryn Cheatham Gray, passed away Dec. 5, 2000, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Truman G. and Willie Inez Smith Gray. He was a WWII Veteran having served in the 8th Air Force in the European Theatre. He was retired from Greenwood Mills and Abney Mills as a Production Planner. He was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Couples II Sunday School Class and Gideons International.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Mike Gray and Mark Gray, both of Greenwood; three brothers, Larry Gray and Gary Gray, both of Taylors and Rev. Danny Gray of Columbia; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 Friday at South Main Street Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Dave Patterson and Danny Gray. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum. The body will be placed in the church at 10 Friday.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gray, Joby Gray, T.G. Gray, Larry Gray, Phil Gray, Thomas Cheatham and Charles Cheatham.
Honorary escorts will be the Men of the South Main Street Baptist Church, the Couples II Sunday School Class along with Dr. James Smith, Rev. Ralph Bagwell, Dr. Richard Carter and Dr. Wayne Sida.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home in Druid Hills.
Memorials may be made to South Main Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 1000 S. Main St., Greenwood, SC 29646 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Paul Livingston

GREENWOOD — Paul C. “Skinner” Livingston II, 48, of 203 Pinehurst Drive, passed away Dec. 5, 2000, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Edna Cannon Smith and the late Paul C. Livingston. He was a 1970 graduate of Ninety Six High School, a graduate of USC and received honorary degrees from Piedmont Technical College. He was formerly employed by Scott’s Heating and Cooling and was a sergeant in the Air Force, serving from 1972-1976 during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Children of the Confederate.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Sidney Smith of the home; three sisters, Paula L. Haynes of Ninety Six, Marcia L. Day and Cindy A. Smith, both of Greenwood; and a brother, George C. “Hopsing” Livingston of Saluda.
Services will be at 3 Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Revs. John Abrams and Bobby Davis. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Luke Thomason, Leonard Nunn, Mark Dominick, “Curly” Walters, Johnny Lawson and David Gentry.
Honorary escorts will be Jerry Edge, Ray Coleman, Mike Isbell, Richard Boone, Eddie Tilley, Ronnie Harberson and “Wormy” Womack.
Visitation is from 6-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.

EDGEFIELD — Services for Willie James Page Jr. will be at 3 Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. E.L. Cain, assisted by the Rev. Anthony C. Page. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the Masons.
Flower bearers will be the nieces.
You may call the funeral home or at the residence, 590 Hwy. 378 East.

Geneva Olivia Boyd Robinson

BALTIMORE — Geneva Olivia Boyd Robinson, of 1815 W. North St., widow of Rev. Walter Robinson, passed away Dec. 4, 2000.
Born in Laurens, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Archie Boyd and Ida Anderson Boyd. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a former member of Morris Chapel Baptist in Greenwood. She was also a member of Missionary Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Melrose Jones and Carol Felders; two sons, Melvin Robinson and Nathaniel Robinson; four sisters, Laura E. Boyd of Greenwood, Addie Peterson of Baltimore, Ida L. Brunson of Little Rock, Ark. and Sarah Elam of Philadelphia, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be on Dec. 11, 2000 in Baltimore.

Josh Banks

McCORMICK — Josh Banks, 90, of Route 1, Highway 64, Old Troy Road, husband of Essie T. Lee Banks, passed away Jan. 9, 2001, at National Health Care of Greenwood.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Mary Ann Banks. He was a member of Rockford AME Church, Mount Carmel, where he served on the Steward Board. He retired from Milliken Plant, McCormick, after 28 years of service and also served in the CC Corps for two years.
Survivors include his wife of the home; six daughters, Alvyne Freeman of Newark, N.J., Ann Alexander and Barbara Morris, both of Columbia, Wilena Furseof Irving, Texas , Della Parks of Martinez, Ga., and Azalee Jennings of Augusta; a son, Joseph Banks of Tucker, Ga.; two granddaughters reared in the home, Yvette Golphin of Columbus, Ga., and Marilyn Banks of Augusta; 37 other grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Clayton Butler

GREENWOOD — Clayton Butler, 52, of Brewer Boarding Home, passed away Jan. 9, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Levi Butler and Willie Mae Johnson. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a sister, Rebecca Butler of Greenwood.
The family is at the home of his sister, 208 Sycamore Drive, McKellar Farms.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Berniece Desmond

GREENWOOD — Berniece Joy Eaton Desmond, 73, of 504 Willowbrook Road, wife of James E. Desmond, passed away Jan. 8, 2001, at her home.
Born in Ontario, Canada, she was a daughter of the late William and Agnes Strath Cumming. She retired from Greenwood Housing Authority.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Diane Dixon of Greenwood and Beverly Brown of Gilbert; a sister, Juanita Collins of Toronto, Canada; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Cryptside services will be at 3:30 Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
