Mary Shoemaker
GREENWOOD — Mary Marcell Darnell Shoemaker, 87, of 102 Hutson St., widow of Edgar Eugene Shoemaker, passed away April 18, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Mack and Mary Lou Gillespie Darnell. She retired from Parke-Davis and worked at Culp Shoes. She was a member of Harris Baptist Church and the TEL Sunday School Class and Joy Group of the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy S. Frix of Greenwood and Mary Jane Heape of Florence; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 today at Harris Baptist Church, with the Revs. Frank Thomas and David Clegg officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30.
Pallbearers are Jack Alexander, Gerald Deaton, Carl Funderburk, Norris Wilson, William Wyatt and Jim Williams.
Honorary escorts are members of the TEL Sunday School Class.
Visitation is from 12:30-2 at the church.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Harris Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 Center St., Greenwood, S.C. 29649.

GREENWOOD — Services for Elizabeth Wiley Wideman, of 235-B Brooks Stuart Drive, will be at 1 Saturday at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Willie Neal Norman Jr., assisted by the Rev. Joseph Caldwell. Burial will be in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Bobby Garlington, Michael Garlington, Richard Garlington, Anson Garlington and Ike Garlington.
Flower bearers are members of the Woman’s Aid Society No. 62.
Honorary escorts are members of Deadfall Home Demonstrations Club.
Visitation is from 7-8 tonight at the funeral home.

George Kennedy Williams
McCORMICK — George Kennedy Williams, 60, of 110 Cypress Drive, husband of Peggy Perrin Williams, passed away April 20, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.

Services will be announced by Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc., Greenwood, which is in charge.

Kimberly S. ‘Pig’ Wilson
GREENWOOD — Services for Kimberly Santres “Pig” Wilson, 17, of 505 Milwee Ave., will be at 4 Saturday at Holy Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Amos Harling. The body will be placed in the church at 3. Burial will be in Andrew Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Baron Searles, Tony Roper, Ray Sims, Andrea Searles, Bo Hurley, Myron Turman, Sherman Sprowl and Roderick Watson.
Flower bearers are Tomika Williams, Triska Partlow, Trice Searles, Sherrie Speech, Brittany Gilchrist, Neshia Parks, Sandra Bowman, Twanna Harling and Nicole Harling.
Visitation is from 7-8 Friday at the home of a cousin, Betty Bowman, 313-A Byrd St. and at the home of her father, Josh Harling, 405 Freetown Road, Hodges.
Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc. is in charge.

Coleman Bowie
GREENWOOD — Coleman F. Bowie, 61, of 215 Melrose Terrace, husband of Bobbie Emory Bowie, passed away April 22 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
Born in Greenwood, October 9, 1939, he was a son of the late Frank O. and Nettie Coleman Bowie. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Clemson College. He was employed by Greenwood Mills from 1963 to 1987 as project engineer. He was co-owner, with his wife, of Mabry-Sanders Insurance and Real Estate in Greenwood and formerly served as president and secretary of the Greenwood Independent Insurance Agents and served on the legislative committee for Independent Agents of South Carolina. He was a past president of Greater Greenwood Uptown Development.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Lynn B. Elliott of Greenwood; a step-son, John Hill; a sister, Jan B. Hopkins of Greenville and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted 4 Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. J. William Harris officiating.
Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Wilkerson, Reid Waterson, Ralph Moore, Harold Odell, Regan Marshall, Walter Marshall, Charlie Hall and George Smith.
Honorary escorts will be Bill Allred, Jim Moore, Marvin Watson, Jack Walton, Curtis Wilson, Charlie Herndon, Rauch Wise, Steve Welch, Sam Riley, Jimmy Britt, Tom Hill, Travis Higginbotham, Gene Still, Mark Palmer, John Cathy, John Nave and Frank Addy.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the Church at 3 Tuesday. The family is at the home on Melrose Terrace and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials made to the Sam Smith Trust Fund, C/O Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648. Blyth Funeral Home is in charge.

Virgil P. Bright
SENECA — Virgil P. Bright, 82, passed away April 21, 2001, at Mariner Health Care of Seneca.
Born in Westminster, he was the son of the late Will and Delia Bright. He was an Army and Air Force veteran, serving in World War II and in Korea.
Survivors include a son, LeBron Bright of Greenwood; a daughter, Jane B. Hawkins of Seneca; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Oconee Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home in Seneca, which is in charge.

Charlie Collier
GREENWOOD — Charlie Collier, 76, of 112 Bream Ave., husband of Mae L. Odum Collier, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2001, at his home.
Born in Pennington Gap, Va., he was a son of the late Wright and Mary Etta Salley Collier. He was a crane operator for Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 31 years and was a member of ATFA and the Squirrel Hunters Association. He was a member and deacon of Lakeside Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Also surviving are three daughters, Patsy Jo Simpson of Oleny, Md., Elizabeth Ann Collier of Baltimore, Md., and Mary Sue Collier Faucett of Travelers Rest; a son, Charles Edward Collier of Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, Virgil Collier of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Ricky Rumfelt, the Rev. James Young and the Rev. William F. Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jack Faucett, Ben Hare Jr., Kenny Harris and Sam Duncan.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. The body will be placed in the church Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Mamie Ruth Davis
WARE SHOALS — Mamie Ruth Williamson Davis, 82, of 968 Turkey Creek Road, widow of Rufus Louie Davis, passed away April 21, 2001, at National Health Care of Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Zema and Bertha Cathcart Williamson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a retired employee of Riegel Textile Corp.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Galloway of Ware Shoals; four sisters, Carrie Lou Jones of Spartanburg, Laura Robinson and Clara Bagwell, both of Ware Shoals and Willie Treadwell of Donalds; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 4 Tuesday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Elsie Donham
GREENWOOD — Elsie Batson Donham, 60, of 110 Cothran St., widow of Bill Donham, passed away April 21, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Eva Sorrow Batson. She was a former employee of First National Bank, Dallas, Texas , and a member of South Greenwood Assembly of God, where she was former president of the Women’s Ministry.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Miller of Ninety Six; two sisters, Jean Moore of Ninety Six and Elaine Edney of Rowlett, Texas ; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Tuesday at South Greenwood Assembly of God, conducted by the Revs. Carroll Harrison, Kenneth Edney and L.T. Sorrow. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Daniel Singleton, Dustin Miller, David Singleton, Lee Roy Harrison Jr., Jack Harrison, Cecil Lucas, Ray White and Joey Hough.
Honorary escorts are members of the Women’s Ministry of the church.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the church, 911 Ninety Six Highway.
The family is at the home of her daughter, 109 Saluda Street, Ninety Six.

Nancy Friend
HAMDEN, Conn. — Nancy Holbrook Friend, 81, formerly of Hamden, widow of Harvey H. Friend, passed away April 22, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Survivors includes three daughters, Marsha Dupree of Ninety Six, S.C., Nina Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Pamela Mills of Pickerington, Ohio; a son, Ralph Nettleton of Pickerington; a sister, Mrs. Robert Olsson of North Brandford; 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be Wednesday in Hamden.

Ola Mae Galloway
GREENWOOD — Ola Mae Taylor Galloway, 90, of 208 Oaklane Drive, widow of A.G. Galloway, passed away April 23, 2001, at National Health Care Center.
Born in Easley, she was a daughter of the late William and Deltha Taylor. She was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, where she was in Friendship Club and served in the nursery for 50 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Greta Galloway Sterghos and Gloria Galloway Proctor, both of Greenwood, and Geri Galloway Renaud of Brantford, Ontario, Canada; a son, James Harold Galloway of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Leland S. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Shannon, Daniel Proctor, V. Samuel Swanger, Taylor Gabrels, Greg Gabrels, Andrew Proctor, Pax Garth and Douglas Jackson.
Honorary escort will be the nurses and certified nursing assistants of NHC Station 1, along with Audrey Duncan, Gladys Rish, Azalee Fortson, Leroy Banes, Harold Gable, Kenneth McClendon and Wilbur Hammond.
