PELZER — James Douglas Page, 52, of 9588 Augusta Road, husband of Charley Herron Page, passed away Jan. 10, 2001, at his home.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of Margaret Smith Page and the late Fred Donald Page. He was a Marine Corps veteran, a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church and a machinist with Ashworth Card Clothing Co.
Survivors include his mother of Honea Path; his wife of the home; two stepsons, Bret Brown and Erick Kuykendall, both of Anderson; a sister, Janice Jenkins of Honea Path; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 today at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path, conducted by the Rev. Mike Moody and the Rev. Tim Crawford. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.
Visitation is from 1-2 today at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of his mother, 12 Pruitt St., Honea Path.

Dr. John F. Park

KINGSTON, N.Y. — Dr. John Faircloth Park, 70, Cantor Emeritus of Congregation Temple Emanuel in Kingston, passed away Jan. 14, 2001, in New York.
Born in Greenville, S.C., he was a son of the late John Andrew and Inez Faircloth Park and a soloist in the Greenville Boy’s Choir from fourth grade. He studied at Furman University, the University of North Carolina, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Aspen Music College and Columbia University Teachers College. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina and his doctorate degree from Columbia. He taught at Virginia Intermont College, the University of Florida, the University of Georgia and the University of North Carolina, and was a tenor soloist. Moving to Kingston in 1963, he joined the original faculty at Ulster County Community College and was appointed chairman of the Humanities Division in 1968. He received the honor of Cantor Emeritus of Temple Emanuel in 1997.
Survivors include a sister, Inez Morgan of Atlanta; and a brother, Charles Park of Greenwood, S.C.
Services and burial will be today in Kingston.

Susan Elizabeth Smith

GREENVILLE — Susan Elizabeth Smith, 22, of 410 Sulphur Springs Road, passed away Jan. 14, 2001.
Born in East Ridge, Tenn., she was a daughter, of Gary R. and Gwendolyn Carter Smith. A graduate of Travelers Rest High School, she was a junior at Lander University. She was an employee at Home Gold and a former employee of Duke’s Sandwiches and Stax’s Restaurant. She was a member of Leewood Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents of West Columbia; and a sister, Jennifer Page of Greenwood.
Services will be at 3 Thursday at Floyd Springs Baptist Church, Armuchee, Ga., with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at McAfee Funeral Home.
The body will be sent to Jennings Funeral Home, Rome, Ga., for services.
Memorials may be made to Greenville Humane Society, 321 Furman Hall Road, Greenville, S.C. 29609.

James Jason Summer

CHAPPELLS — James Jason Summer, 92, of South Jones Street, Clinton, formerly of Chappells, passed away Jan. 14, 2001, at the Dorn VA Medical Center.
Born in Chappells, he was a son of the late Jacob Franklin and Emma Johnson Summer. He was a World War II Army veteran and a retired farmer.
Survivors include three sisters, Marion Summer Eve of Columbia, Emma Colie Summer of Clinton and Essie Summer Mills of Laurens.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rosemont Cemetery, Newberry, conducted by the Rev. Carroll Anderson.
Memorials may be made to Chappells Baptist Church, Chappells, S.C. 29037.
McSwain-Evans Funeral Home, Newberry, is in charge.

Georgia Terrell

GREENWOOD — Georgia Ayers Terrell, 96, of 303 Oakwood Drive, widow of Fred McConnel Terrell, passed away Jan. 15, 2001, at her home.
Visitation is at Blyth Funeral Home from 7-9 Wednesday.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Howard Timms

HODGES — Ollie Howard Timms, 79, of 5221 Hwy 185, husband of Irene McGee Timms, passed away Jan. 16, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Vivan Timms Riley, 915 Riley Road, Hodges.
Visitation is at Blyth Funeral Home from 7-9 Wednesday.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Nessie Tee Wideman

GREENWOOD — Nessie Tee Wideman, 93, of 117 Benjamin Court, Philadelphia, and of 2312 Briarwood Road, Promised Land Community, passed away Jan. 15, 2001, at Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel David and Mattie Glover Wideman. She was a member of Mount Zion AME Church, where she was a choir member and a member of the Women’s Aide Society. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a niece with whom she lived, Mattie Freeman Stephens of Philadelphia.
The family is at the home of a nephew, Augustus White, 110 Whitehall Road, Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

‘Buddy’ Wilson

ANDERSON — Vernon L. “Buddy” Wilson, 80, of 106 Pine Grove Road, husband of Audrey A. Wilson, passed away Jan. 13, 2001.
Born in Chester, he was a son of the late John Franklin and Elizabeth Medlin Wilson.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Barbara W. Winchester and Ann McClain, both of Anderson, Susan Parnell of Calhoun Falls and Mary A. Gable of Viola, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McDougald Funeral Home, with burial in Flat Rock Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621.

Lonie ‘Tommye’ Woods

BARNWELL — Lonie Tommye Stevenson Woods, 76, wife of Sam G. Woods, passed away Jan. 15, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Augusta.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Clara Bell Stevenson. A graduate of Abbeville High School, the Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing and Furman University, she was a registered nurse. She had worked at Barnwell County Hospital and Barnwell County Health Department, and retired as plant nurse at Milliken Inc. after 15 years of service. She was a member of Barnwell Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband of Barnwell; a son, Andrew K. Woods of Barnwell; two daughters, Deborah Anne Woods of Barnwell and Jane W. Tarrance of Beaufort; three sisters, Clara Etta Mathews of Abbeville, Mary Smith of Snellville, Ga., and Lila Belle Smith of Due West; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barnwell Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. David Turner and the Rev. Elizabeth Platts. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Long Cane Cemetery, Abbeville.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Mole Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Barnwell Presbyterian Church.

Elijah Allen Sr.

BELTON — Elijah “Chuck” Allen Sr., 97, of 107 Cowan Drive, widower of Iola Fant Allen, passed away Jan. 14, 2001.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Issiah and Lizzy Mae Allen. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Belton.
Survivors include five daughters, Candus Payton of the home, Louise Bennett, Elizabeth Cowan and Nancy Lee Lomax, all of Belton and Annie Ruth Rice of Donalds; two sons, Eugene Allen of the home and Fred Douglas Allen of Easley; two sisters, Lela Bell Stevenson of Anderson and Virginia Henman of Salisbury, N.C.; two brothers, Earl Allen of Brooklyn, N.C., and Elex White of Anderson; 27 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8 tonight at Holloway Funeral Home.
Holloway Funeral Home is in charge.

Myrtle Lucille Boozer

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — Myrtle Lucille Boozer, 96, passed away Jan. 5, 2001, at the Castle Rock Care Center.
Born in Ninety Six, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Millage and Martha Iola Wells Boozer. She was a homemaker and had made her home in Douglas County since the early 1940s.
Survivors include a granddaughter; two sisters, Sarah Goins and Madeline Capps, both of Asheville, N.C.; and two brothers, Richard Moseley of Asheville and Calvin Moseley of Moyock, N.C.
Graveside services were held on January 9 in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock.

Joyce Higgins Carter

GREENVILLE — Joyce Higgins Carter, 91, wife of Jerry Carter, passed away Jan.16, 2001, at Greenville Nursing Center.
Born in Hodges, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Hattie Wright Higgins. She retired from Macshore Classics Co., Greenville, and worked at the Salvation Army. She was a member of Hodges United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Easley; two brothers, Hubert Higgins of Gray Court and W.D. Higgins of Hodges.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Gray Funeral Home, Laurens, with burial in Hodges Cemetery.
Visitation is from 1-2 Thursday at the funeral home.
Family members are at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Buncombe Street, Greenville.

Sidney King Gardner

CAMDEN — Sidney “Sid” King Gardner, 79, husband of Martha Ketchin Gardner, passed away Jan. 14, 2001.
Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late Sidney Kelly and Loucelle Gwin Gardner. A graduate of the University of South Carolina and a World War II Navy veteran, he retired from DuPont after 33 years, and was later affiliated with Kornegay Funeral Home. He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, James Leroy Belk Post No. 17, Kershaw Lodge No. 29 and the Golden K Club. He was a former member of Camden Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sally Hayes of Wentworth, N.C., and Sydney Parrish of Marietta, Ga.; three sons, William Gardner of Lexington and Robert Gardner and John Gardner, both of Camden; a sister, Jane G. Hunter of Clemson; two brothers, William Gardner of Ninety Six and James M. Gardner of Myrtle Beach; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 4 today in Quaker Cemetery, conducted by Dr. William F. Summers and the Rev. Jim Schaffer.
Memorials may be made to Wentworth Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 94, Wentworth, N.C. 27375.
