Willie Earl Childs
NINETY SIX — Willie Earl Childs, 44, of 308 Julian Road, husband of Sandra Laverne Richardson Childs, passed away May 8, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Silas Childs Sr. and Mamie Carroll Childs. He was a member of Pine Baptist Church, an employee of Greenwood Mills, Sloan Plant and a 1974 graduate of Ninety Six High School.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Earl Tyrone Childs of the home; a daughter, Crystal Denise Childs of the home; two brothers, Arthur Childs and Silas Childs Jr., both of Ninety Six; and a sister, Bertha Pope of Ninety Six.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

Mary Lou Crowder
COLUMBIA - Memorial service for Mrs. Mary Lou Stubblefield Crowder, 76, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church with burial in Elmwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at 4816 Shadow Lawn Road. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice, PO Box 7275, Columbia, SC 20202. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is in charge.
Mrs. Crowder, widow of Joseph Louis Crowder, Jr., passed away Monday, May 7, 2001. She was born in Charlotte, NC, and was raised in Greenwood, SC. She was a daughter of the late Hord and Ruth Cannon Stubblefield. A graduate of Winthrop College, she was selected to attend the IBM School in Endicott, NY, and was subsequently employed by IBM and later M.B. Kahn Construction Co. She was a member and officer of the South Carolina Womens Senior Golf Association, Columbia Country Club Women's Golf Association and was a member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a son, Joseph L. Crowder, III, of Columbia; daughters, Linda C. Brennison and Virginia C. White of Columbia; brother, Hord Stubblefield, Jr., of Columbia; and five grandchildren, Joseph L. Crowder, VI, Jonathan Crowder, John White, Jennifer Brennison, and Christina White.

Rosa Lee Cunningham
GREENWOOD — Rosa Lee Cunningham passed away May 8, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Bonnie Moore Threlkeld
IVA — Bonnie Moore Threlkeld, 86, of 500 Antreville Highway, widow of Otis Y. Threlkeld, passed away May 7, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Betty Walker Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church and the Sunrise Seniors.
Survivors include three sons, Herbert Threlkeld of Greenwood, Harold Threlkeld of Anderson and Young Threlkeld of Simpsonville; a daughter, Betty Brickle of Iva; a brother, Henry Moore of Iva; two sisters, Frances Latham of Anderson and Helen Hall of Donalds; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 today at Union Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Martin Wiles. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30.
Visitation is from 12-2 today at McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson.
Family members are at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church Van Fund, 703 Barnes Station Road, Iva, S.C. 29655.
The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge.

Barbara Vaudreuil
GREENWOOD — Barbara Blohm Vaudreuil, 57, of 108 N. Cedar Drive, wife of Wilfred J. “Bill” Vaudreuil, passed away May 9, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Monty Ouzts
GREENWOOD — Virgil Montague Ouzts, 54, of 120 Marshall Circle, husband of Verda Kegley Ouzts, passed away April 30, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Ralph and Janie Rambo Ouzts. He retired from the S.C. Correctional Department and was a Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and receiving the Purple Heart and other medals of honor. He was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and Mountain Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two stepdaughters, Jill Carlisle and Dennette Capley, both of Greenwood; three stepsons, Vick Capley, Ronnie Capley and Larry Leek, all of Greenwood; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alleene McCormack of Fountain Inn, Daisy Cuatt of Ninety Six, Miriam Butler of Columbia, Miss., and Betty Frances Sharpe of Gilbert; and three brothers, Herman Cecil Ouzts of Plant City, Fla., Carl Alton Ouzts of Mateland, Fla., and James Ed Ouzts of Ninety Six.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at Mountain Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Bob Napier and Craig Hughes. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Burial, with full military rites, will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home and at the home of a brother, James Ed Ouzts, 125 Warbler Road, Ninety Six.
Harley Funeral Home is in charge.

Otha Lee Padgett
GREENWOOD — Otha Lee Padgett, 87, of 106 N. Bethune St., widower of Annie Mae Jones Padgett, passed away April 27, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a son of the late Will and Cora Stafford Padgett. He was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and former church treasurer. He was a veteran of WWII.
Survivors include three sons, Charlie Padgett of Aiken,Theodore Padgett of Greenwood, and Willie Lee Padgett of Atlanta; two daughters, Otha Mae Padgett-Tucker of the home and Eva Ann Talbert of Hodges; one brother, Willie Padgett of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.

GREENWOOD — Services for Otha Lee Padgett, of 106 N. Bethune St., will be at 2 Wednesday at Willow Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. E.L. Cain, assisted by the Rev. Dr. Willie S. Harrison. Burial will be in Evening Star Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are deacons of the church.

Cornella C. Bethea
GREENWOOD — Cornella C. Bethea, 56, of 137 S. University St., wife of Alfonzo Bethea, passed away May 7, 2001, at her home.
Born in Edgefield, she was a daughter of Fred Douglas Stevens and Emily Louise Bouknight Stevens. She graduated from Brewer High School, attended Random Business School in Columbia and retired from Self Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her parents of Greenwood; three sons, Gavin Bethea of Greenwood, Morris Bethea of Atlanta and Ricky Bethea of Simpsonville; two daughters, Sonya Bethea of Greenwood and Tonya Bethea of Simpsonville; three sisters, Corinthian Aiken of New York, Bobbie Jean Gordon of Philadelphia and Evelyn Easley of Greenwood; and six grandchildren.
The family is at the home. Honorary escorts will be members of Brewer High School Class of 1962.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Bessie Palmore
TROY — Bessie Harrison Palmore, 71, of 909 Mount Vernon Road, widow of Walter Palmore, passed away May 9, 2001, at her home.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Carrie Williams Harrison. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield, where she was a member of the Sunday School, Missionary Society and Deaconess Society and the oldest active senior choir member. She was also a member of Mount Moriah Chapter No. 97, Order of the Eastern Star, Burial Aid Society No. 104 and the Women’s Auxiliary of Tri-County Fire Department. She was a former housekeeper at the Methodist Home.
Survivors include three sons, Sheppard Palmore of the home and Robert Palmore and Joseph Palmore, both of Greenwood; four daughters, Melissa Palmore, Carrie Moss and Annie Roundtree, all of Troy and Hester Freeman of Greenwood; a brother, Jessie Harrison of New York City; five sisters, Teresa White of Newark, NJ, and Louella Holt, both of Newark, N.J., Ruth Johnson of Kenilworth, N.J; Sophia Mason of Edgefield and Hattie Weaver of Greenwood; 28 grandchildren, four reared in the home, Kalo Nance, Kelvin Nance, Christine Butler and Tonya White; 35 great-grandchildren, one reared in the home, Kwame Butler; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

Bessie Palmore
TROY — Services for Bessie Harrison Palmore, of 909 Mount Vernon Road, will be at 4 Sunday at Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield, conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Williams, assisted by the Rev. Randy Holloway. The body will be placed in the church at 3. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are members of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge.
Flower bearers are members of Mount Moriah Chapter 97, Order of the Eastern Star.
Honorary escorts are Calvin Lanier, Nathaniel Harrison, Diane Carter and Margaret Nicholson.

Elizabeth Love Thrailkill
ROEBUCK — Elizabeth Love Thrailkill, 50, of 850 Hobbysville Road, passed away Feb. 10, 2001, at Gibbs Regional Cancer Center.
Born in Wahalla, she the daughter of R.E. “Bob” Love of Spartanburg and the late Norma Humphries Love. She was a graduate of Erskine College and Clemson University. She was a school teacher of 21 years, having taught school in Greenwood, Ware Shoals, Johnston, Spartanburg and most recently at the University School of Spartanburg County. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Mount Calvary Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Fred M. Thrailkill, Jr, Roebuck; a daughter, Margaret Thrailkill Porterfield of Roebuck; a son, Robert Ben Thrailkill of the home; a brother, Robert “Bob” Love of Greenville; and a sister, Sue Love Boulware of Rock Hill.
Services will be at 11 Monday at Mount Calvary Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Revs. Garry Harper and Herb Franklin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 6-9 tonight at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to the Mount Calvary Presbyterian Church Debt Retirement Fund, 1399Walnut Grove Road, Roebuck, SC 29376.
