Lora Ann Hagood
CALHOUN FALLS — Lora Ann Croft Hagood, 84, formerly of Calhoun Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Greenwood.
A native of Blyville, Ark., she was the widow of Louis “Mac” McCarley and Robert Hagood. A retired dietitian, she served in the food service department at De la Howe Military Academy, McCormick, for many years. She was a member of Calhoun Falls First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan M. Page of Abbeville; two sons, Jerry Jernigan of Fredricksburg, Va., and Buddy McCarley of Iva; three brothers, Hershal Croft of South Haven, Miss., Billy Croft and Carl Croft of Hillsboro, Mo.; two sisters, Helen Davis and Carol Profitt of Phoenix; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Friday at Calhoun Falls First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Dalton.
Cremation and inurnment will be private.
Memorials may be made to Calhoun Falls First Baptist Church or the Diabetes Association.

John Francis Scurry
NEWBERRY — John Francis Scurry, 68, of 1807 College St., Newberry, died Saturday, November 30, 2002.
Mr. Scurry was born on July 15, 1934 in Lake Providence, LA, a son of the late John Francis and Emma Turner Scurry. He was a retired employee of DHEC and was also a farmer. He was 1957 graduate of Clemson College. Mr. Scurry was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where he served on the Mission Committee. He was a founding member of the Chappells Sporting Society; a founding member of the Carolinian Society and a faithful member of IPTAY.
Mr. Scurry is survived by his wife, Joy Welborn Scurry of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Caroline Chappell Scurry of Newberry, Suzannah Scurry and Sterling Smith of Franklin, TN, and Joy Blanton Scurry, MD, of Savannah, GA; two granddaughters, Suzannah Lipscomb Smith and Caroline Chappell Smith; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Jack Welborn of Ninety Six.
Funeral services for John Francis Scurry were conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church by the Rev. David Stewart. Interment was in the Scurry Family Cemetery in Chappells, SC.
Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, and the family is at the residence, 1807 College St., Newberry.
Memorials may be made to Whitten Center 101, Drawer 239, Clinton, SC 29325 or to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1605 Main St., Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers were Orion Perrell, Robert E. Livingston, MD, John Rucker, Tom Pope, John Welborn, Earle Lineburger, L. B. Adams, Jr., Bobby Harrell, and Elmer Long, MD.
Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Chappells Sporting Society.

Darroyl Wimmes
Services for Darroyl Wimmes, of 241˝ Griffin St., are 3 p.m. Thursday at Little Zion A.M.E. Church, with the Rev. George H. Oliver presiding and Bishop Emanuel Spearman officiating.
Assisting are the Revs. Jackie Whitted, Willie Neal Norman and J.J. Robinson. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Travis Hentz, Greg Hentz Jr., Dwayne Vance, Allen Ware, Cornell Booker and Melvin Wims.
Flower bearers are Tomeka Vance, Tonya Wimmes, Alicia Wimmes and cousins.
Visitation is 7-8 tonight at Parks Funeral Home.
Parks Funeral Home is in charge.

Lee Chappelle
NINETY SIX — Lee O. Chappelle, 90, of National Health Care of Greenwood and 108 Little Mountain Road, husband of Leola Robinson Chappelle, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Leola Reece Chappelle. He retired from the Greenwood State Parks after 30 years of service and was a member of Mays United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cassie Mitchell of Greenwood; two sons, Robert L. Chappelle of the home and Osborne D. Chappelle of Greenwood; a granddaughter, reared in the home, Cassie Chappelle of Atlanta; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Mays United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Willie Keys.
The body will be placed in the church at 10. Burial is in Evening Star Cemetery, Greenwood. Pallbearers are grandsons, nephews and other relatives.
Flower bearers are granddaughters and nieces.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at 108 Little Mountain Road.
Memorials may be made to Mays United Methodist Church, 535 Church St. Extension N., Ninety Six, SC 29666.
Blyth Funeral Home, Greenwood, is in charge.

Pamela Hager
Pamela Sue Hager, 44, of 6222 Highway 178 S., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home.

Jenny Livingston
DYERSBURG, TN — Jenny Marie Douglas Livingston, 32, resident of 316 Fairfield Road, wife of John Livingston, died November 25, 2002.
Born in Pensacola, FL, February 12, 1970, she was a daughter of Bobby C. and Lola McCarley Douglas. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and the University of South Carolina. She was employed by Sears and was a former teacher in South Carolina and Florida schools.
She was a former member of West Side Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home and her parents of Greenwood are two brothers, Joel P. and his wife Mary W. Douglas of York and Jody W. and his wife, Beth W. Douglas of Charleston; a nephew, Mitchell Douglas of York; a niece, Catherine Douglas of York.
Ms. Livingston was predeceased by a brother, James P. Hancock.
Memorial services will be conducted 2PM Saturday, December 7, 2002 at West Side Baptist Church with Rev. Hal Lane officiating.
Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
The family is at the home of Bobby and Lola Douglas, 1610 Hwy.72 W.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Under His Wings, a ministry of Haven of Rest, P.O. Box 466, Anderson, SC 29622.

Sarah Belle Neal
Services for Sarah Belle Neal, of 233-A Mineral Court, are 2 p.m. Sunday at Bailey Bethel A.M.E. Church, McCormick County, conducted by the Rev. J.W. Paul, pastor. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews and friends of the family.
Flower bearers are nieces and friends of the family.
Visitation is 6-7 Saturday at Robinson & Son Mortuary.

Albert Ramey
ABBEVILLE — Albert Tompkins Ramey, 90 formerly of Abbeville, widower of Vera Milford Ramey, died Wednesday, December 04, 2002 at NHC of Mauldin.
Mr. Ramey was born in Abbeville county May 3, 1912 to the late Samuel Tompkins and Minnie Greene Ramey. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and was the former owner of Albert Ramey Motor Company.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Ramey Gillespie of Abbeville; granddaughters, Ramey Gillespie Millett of Charlotte, NC and Laurie Gillespie Lollis of Simpsonville, SC; grandson, Kenneth Webb Gillespie, Jr. of Greenville, SC and four greatgrandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 2 P.M. Saturday from the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Sherard officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel immediately following the service.

George M. Swancey
HODGES — George M. Swancey, 74, of 301 Pow Road, husband of Hilda Smith Swancey, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 at his home.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Edwina Hatcher, 122 E. Morgan Road.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Howard E. Beckham
KERSHAW — Howard Eugene Beckham, 82, of 301 E. Marion St., husband of Frances Morgan Beckham, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Kershaw Conty Medical Center in Camden.
Born in Williamsburg County, he was a son of the late Jepther and Ella Cornelia Beckham. He was a retired insurance agent, mobile home salesman and owner and operator of Kershaw Restaurant and Theatre. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Kershaw Senior Citizens and Kershaw Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Todd Beckham of Fayetteville, N.C., Don Gardner and Danny Beckham, both of Lancaster; a brother, Claude Beckham of Greenwood; and six grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Sunday at Kershaw Second Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Hogsed.
Burial is in Kershaw City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.
Memorials may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 7737 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C., 29067.

Mattie Boozer, of National Health Care, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Services will be announced by Percival Tompkins Funeral Home.

‘B.B.’ Hutchison
IVA — Barney Bryan “B.B.” Hutchison, 94, widower of Mary Nelson Hutchison, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at his home.
A native of Lowndesville, he was a son of the late Mallie B. and Mary Lou Kelly Hutchison. He was a retired farmer and cattleman and was a member of the Aberdeen Angus Association for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Abbeville County Cattleman’s Association. He was former chairman of the Abbeville County Council and a former member of the Abbeville County Board of Education. He was a member of the Providence Presbyterian Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and served as an Elder in the church for more than 50 years. He was currently serving as an Elder Emeritus. He was also a member of the Masonic and Eastern Star Lodges.
Survivors include two daughters, Rachel Burt of Taylors and Christine H. Vickery of Elberton, Ga.; two sisters, Marie Hutchison of Lowndesville and Frances Belcher of Aiken; a brother, Alvin Hutchison of Starr; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Sunday at the Providence Presbyterian Church, Lowndesville, conducted by the Rev. Lee P. Kennerly. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Joel McMullen, J.R. Purdy, Craig Killen, Jason Powell, Greg Vickery, Chad Sizemore, Jerry Nelson and Harold Durke Purdy.
Pallbearers are Men of the Church.
Visitation is immediately following the services in the church’s Fellowship Hall.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund.

Sara Mahon
CALHOUN FALLS — Sara Riley Mahon, 92, formerly of Calhoun Falls, widow of Robert Gray Mahon, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, in White Oak Manor, Newberry.
A native of Middleton, Ga., she was a daughter of the late James and Lucy Edwards Riley. She was a retired school teacher and a member of the Calhoun Falls United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include a daughter, Lucy M. Brown of Newberry; two sons, Dr. Robert G. Mahon Jr., of Greenville and Dr. Thomas M. Mahon of Stone Mountain, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Sunday at the Calhoun Falls United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Jack Ray and Richard Smith. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville.
Visitation is from 1-2 Sunday at the church.
The family is at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to the Calhoun Falls United Methodist Church or to the Calhoun Falls Library.
Calhoun Falls Funeral Home is in charge.
