Ronnie Getsinger
GREENWOOD — Joe Ronald “Pete” Getsinger, 63, of 322 Phoenix Road, husband of Ann Hayes Getsinger, died Friday, February 28, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Joe L. and Elvie Metts Getsinger. He retired from Greenwood Mills, Chalmers Plant and had previously been employed by Parke-Davis for 12 years. He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church and Calvary Holiness Church.
Surviving are his wife of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wade and Cindy Getsinger and Clay and Francine Getsinger, all of Greenwood; a daughter and her companion, Brenda Getsinger and Janet Malone of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Austin Getsinger, Brianna Getsinger, Jacob Getsinger, Brittany Lewis, Kayla Lewis and Ashley Lewis; his aunts and uncles, Margaret Henderson and Ruby G. Reagan, both of Greenwood and William E. and Hall M. Ouzts of Ninety Six.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rehoboth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph Curtis and the Rev. Tim Brimm officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Wightman, Joey Murray, Joe Rambo, Harry Metts, Wendell Adams, Richard Kelley and Bill White.
Honorary escorts are the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Rehoboth Church.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Monday.
The family is at the home.

Katie Holder
ABBEVILLE — Katie Hastings Holder, 72, resident of 100 George Street, died March 1, 2003 at her home.
Born in Greenwood County, January 14, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Perry Lee Hastings and the late Sally Hazel Hastings Dennis. She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Harris Plant in Greenwood.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. and the Bouquet Garden Club. She had formerly volunteered at the Abbeville Hospital and Second Chance of Abbeville.
Surviving are a daughter, Vickey H. Ricketts of Abbeville, a brother, Perry Hastings of Greenwood; two sisters, Mary Alice Cobbler of Saluda and Dorothy Hollingsworth of Greenwood.
Grandchildren, Jamie Ricketts, Christopher Holder and Hannah Holder, all of Abbeville and Stephanie Ricketts Treckman of Spartanburg. Two great-grandchildren.
Ms. Holder was predeceased by a son, Ronald Holder, brothers, James Hastings, Paul Hastings, Bobby Hastings and Buster Hastings and a sister, Essie Horne.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Monday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Reiny Koschel and Rev. George Busch officiating.
Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park in Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Willie Garrett, James White, Gary Best, Ron Latham, Jim O’Neal and Johnny Moore.
Honorary escort will be F.R. Erwin, John Shrimp, Don Kemper, Fletcher Harrison, Charlie Smith and Fred Martin.
The body is at Harris Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 2 PM Monday.
The family is at the home on George Street and will receive friends at Harris Funeral Home from 6 to 8 Sunday Evening.
Memorials may be made to the Dana Holder Memorial Library at First Baptist Church, c/o First Baptist Church, N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC 29620.

Mary H. Phillips
WATERLOO — Mary Hortense Phillips, 82, formerly of Greenville and Waterloo, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at the home of her son, Reginald J. Phillips II, in Grand Prairie, Texas .
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Alander Kirby Roberts and Lillie Mae Richerson and the widow of Reginald (Rex) J. Phillips.
She retired from the Singer Sewing Company in Greenville as a sewing instructor, valued employee, and friend. She was a member of Waterloo United Methodist Church, the Waterloo United Methodist Women, and of Friends and Neighbors.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Leigh Griffin of Cocoa Beach, FL; a son, Reginald J. Phillips II and wife Dorothy F. Phillips of Grand Prairie, TX; a sister, Myrtle R. Cox of Waterloo; 3 granddaughters, Paige Chidester of Cocoa Beach, FL, Carissa Rene’ Cardy and husband Ben W. Cardy of Richmond, TX, and Rochelle Leigh O’Polka and husband John G. O’Polka of Arlington, TX; and a grandson, Reginald (Rex) J. Phillips III and wife Adria M. Phillips of Grand Prairie, TX.
One niece, Carolyn Nabors and husband Bobby Nabors, as well as two nephews, Jimmy and Larry Cox, 7 great grandchildren, and many other loving family members also survive her. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Ralph and Frank Head of Taylors.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2003 at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Carl Martin with burial in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Greenville.
The family will be at the home of her sister, Myrtle R. Cox, 638 Isle of Pines Circle, Waterloo, and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary on Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Ruby Reagen
Ruby Getsinger Reagen, 89, of 451 F. Grace St., widow of Marcus Reagen, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Robert and Edna Jane Ashley Getsinger. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and the Friendship Chapter No. 17 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Washington , D.C.
She was the last member of her immediate family and is survived only by a number of nieces and nephews.
Cryptside services are 2 p.m. today in the Chapel Mausoleum at Oakbrook Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. David H. Cobb.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends immediately following the service in the mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, 2066 Highway 72 E., Abbeville, S.C. 29620.

Harvey Ed Shealy
SALUDA — Harvey Edwards Shealy, 68, of 205 Pencreek Road, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 at Providence Hospital.
Born in Saluda County, he was the son of Annie Edwards Shealy and the late Harvey B. Shealy. He followed his father in business at Shealy’s Barber Shop, was a member of Ridge Spring Baptist Church serving as the Director of Music for the past 23 years. He was chairman for 26 years of Project Christmas.
He was a former Commissioner for the Saluda County Commission of Public Works serving as chairman for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Jeroline Berry Shealy, three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Tammy) Shaw of Saluda, Mrs. Wade (Melanie) Sumner of Salley and Mrs. Ted (Gina) Price of Navarre, Fla.; two grandchildren; his mother, Annie E. Shealy of Saluda; two brothers, Jim Shealy of Saluda and Joe Shealy of Georgiana, Ala. and two sisters, Billie Jean McCullough of Greenwood and Jeri Kanellos of Hendersonville, N.C.
Services are 3 p.m. Monday, at Ridge Spring Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. John Gambrell, James Holston and Norman Rogers. Burial will follow in West Travis Park Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3-5 p.m. today at Ramey Funeral Home.

Joseph Sibert
WASHINGTON — Services for Joseph Sibert, 60, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, McCormick conducted by the Rev. Ivary Goodwin, pastor. Burial is in the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
Pallbearers are church officers.
Flower bearers are ushers.
The family is at the home of his brother, Jesse Sibert at 106 Redwood St., Greenwood.

Blanche Carroll
Blanche Long Carroll, 83, of 109 Cessna Ave., widow of Vence W. Carroll, died Saturday, March 15, 2003.
Born in Coronaca, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Margaret Ivester Long. She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant and was a member of Durst Avenue Church of God.
Survivors include two sons, Jerrell Carroll of Ishpeming, Mich. and the Rev. Larry Carroll of Tamasse, S.C.; two daughters, Linda Carroll Wilson of Chesnee, S.C. and Marie Carroll Wallace of Greenwood; a sister, Estelle Young of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Durst Avenue Church of God conducted by the Bishop Wallace Purvis and the Rev. Larry Carroll. Burial is in Mathews Mill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ricky Wilson, Jesse D. Wallace, John Wallace, Eric Tapler, Bill Michaels and John Oney.
Honorary escorts are Willie Cheek, C. Brown, Curtis Shedd, Jerry Young, Jake Simpson and Don Price.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Marie Carroll Wallace, 109 Cessna Ave.

Fred Dowis
NINETY SIX — Fred Marion Dowis, 94, of 100 Saluda St., husband of Ruby Cobb Dowis, died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at his home.
Born in Fairplay, S.C., he was a son of the late Arthur Holman Dowis and Effie Merritt Dowis Stribling. He retired from Greenwood Mills, Ninety Six Plant and played baseball in the Central Carolina League. He served in the Marine Corps and was a member of First Baptist Church of Ninety Six.
Survivors include a wife of the home; three sons, John Dowis and Donald “Pinky” Dowis, both of Ninety Six and Dr. Joe Dowis of Seneca; a half brother, William Ray Stribling of Pompton Plains, N.J.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Ninety Six conducted by Dr. Robin Fisher. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Joe John Dowis, Donnie Dowis, Ronnie Fisher, Greg Wright, Sammie Corley, Hiram Mitchell, V.M. Snipes and Wayne Davis.
Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Ninety Six.

DONALDS — Bob Latham Gable, 72, of 125 Hampton St., husband of Rosa Anna Campbell Gable, died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at his home.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Henry Grady and Lois Irene Latham Gable. He was a retired textile employee of Abbeville Mills and was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Honea Path, S.C.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Ronnie L. Gable of Honea Path; two daughters, Peggy Morris of Waterloo, Brenda G. Grier of Honea Path; four sisters, Theresa Ferguson of Abbeville, Shelby Gentry of Anderson, Phyllis McConnell of Anderson and Evelyn Keys of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. Burial is in Garden of Memories in Belton, S.C.
Visitation if 6-8 tonight at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.

WARE SHOALS — Frances O’Dell Bagwell Howard, 80, of 7 Wood St., died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center.
A native of Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Sally Davis Bagwell. She retired from Riegel Textile Corp. and was a member of Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances H. Walker of Ware Shoals; one sister, Martha Cheek Amick of Laurens; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Columbia Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Revs. Randy Fleming and Mark Kennedy.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Frances Walker.
