Services for Ollie Mae Adams are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield County, conducted by the Rev. Nathaniel Langford. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Flower bearers are nieces.
Visitation is at the home of her son, Melvin Bernard and Patricia Fisher, 108 Hill Top Ave. and the home of a granddaughter, Shonte Nance, 110 Moss Creek Drive.
Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home is in charge.

McCORMICK — Ralph Bonner, of Savannah Lakes Village, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Services will be announced by Beggs Funeral Home, 200 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga.

Terry Lee Chappell
Terry Lee Chappell, 58, of 136 Independence Way, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Mose and Florence Chappell. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Florence Chappell and Kimberly Palmore, of Greenwood; two sisters, Carrie Bell Smith and Linda Baylor, of Greenwood; three grandchildren; and a special campion of the home, Essie Singleton.
The family is at the home of his sister, Linda Baylor, 163 Callison Drive, Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Gertrude Wells Jones
Gertrude Wells Jones, 80, of 124 Russell St., died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at NHC Healthcare of Greenwood.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Jannie Bell Anderson Wells. She was a member of Little Zion A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Williams of Greenwood; four sons, Matthew Wells, James E. Wells, Jackie Lee Jones, of Greenwood and Willie R. Wells of Cleveland, Tenn.; a sister, Ida Wells of Promised Land; a brother, George Pardcha of Promised Land; four grandchildren, reared in the home, Lisa Sayles, Veronica Wells, Rodrick Wells, and Antonio Jones, of Greenwood.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Linda Williams, 243 Wisewood Circle, Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clara Williams McGaha
EASLEY, SC — Clara Williams McGaha, age 89, of 103 South 4th Street, wife of Lloyd N. “Slick” McGaha, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Palmetto Health Baptist-Easley.
Mrs. McGaha was born in Easley to the late James C. and Effie Ramey Williams. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Mother’s Class. She loved her church and her church family.
She is survived by her husband of the home; three sons, Stan McGaha, Larry “Pete” McGaha and his wife, Phyllis, all of Easley and Steve McGaha and his wife, Deene, of Pickens; a granddaughter, Suzanne Moody and her husband, Phil, of Easley; a great-granddaughter, Allie Moody of Easley; two nieces, Lucille McGaha Ware and Frances McGaha Motes, a nephew, Dee McGaha, all of Greenville, who were reared in the home; a special friend and caregiver, Anita Noblitt of Easley and numerous cousins.
Mrs. McGaha was predeceased by her parents and one brother, James Charles Williams.
She will be remembered for her kindness and was loved and admired by all who knew her.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday and will be placed in the church at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Easley.
The family is at the home.

Harold “Cal” Calhoun Cheek, III
GRAY COURT, SC – Harold “Cal” Calhoun Cheek, III, age 16, of 9438 Hwy. 76 W., died Monday, July 12th in the Greenville Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Greenwood and was the son of Hal and Sarah Irvine Cheek of the home.
Cal was a rising senior and a member of FFA at the Laurens District 55 High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his grandmothers, Anna S. Cheek of Clinton and Virginia B. Irvine of Laurens; a great aunt, Juanita Cheek of Gray Court. Cal was also a nephew of Alice Cheek Riddle and her husband Damon of Greenville and Rebecca Irvine Smith and her husband James of Columbia; a first cousin of Blaire Allison Riddle of Greenville; and a special friend, Candice Adair of Laurens.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 4:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Clinton with burial at the Westview Memorial Park in Laurens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home of Laurens.
Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 705 Grove Rd., Greenville, SC 29605 or to The Children’s Hospital, 701 Grove Rd., Greenville, SC 29605, Cancer Center, Self Regional Healthcare, 1325 Spring St., Greenwood, SC 29646 or any Carolina Georgia Blood Center.

James A. Crisp Jr.
LAURENS — James “Jim” Allen Crisp Jr., 74, of 136 Dagnall Circle, widower of Kathleen Roberts Cawthon Crisp, died Sunday, July 11, 2004 at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Cross Hill, he was a son of the late James Allen Crisp Sr. and Neta Crowe Crisp. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict and retired from Laurens Glass. A Mason, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Palmetto Lodge No. 19.
Survivors include a son, Wallace C. Cawthon Jr. of Laurens; a daughter, Vickie Crisp Fulmer of Laurens; a brother, Sam T. Crisp of Laurens; a sister, Margaret Crisp Iusti of Cross Hill.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kennedy Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Marc Coker. Burial is in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is 7-8:30 tonight at the mortuary.
Family members are at their respective homes.
Kennedy Mortuary is in charge.

Bessie F. Linzey
ABBEVILLE — Bessie F. Linzey, 84, of Apartment 52 Woodview Lane, died Monday, July 12, 2004 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson County, she was a member of The Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, George Franklin, Robert Franklin and James Linzey, all of Abbeville; two daughters, Mrs. John (Rosa Mae) Allen of Abbeville and Mary M. Franklin of Greenville; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Abbeville & White Mortuary.

Services for Thomas Bennett, of 203 Kentucky Ave., Blyth Heights, are 2 p.m. Thursday at New China Baptist Church, Troy, conducted by Pastor Aaron Woodard. Assisting are the Revs. Derrick Scott, Anthony Sims, James Speed, Carnell Morton, Gracie Smith and Cuba Turman. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews and James Rush, Walter Bowie and George Thomas.
Flower bearers are nieces.
Honorary escorts are members of Brewer High School Class of 1972.
Visitation is this evening at the home of a sister, Mrs. Booker T. (Angela) Mosley, 203 Kentucky Ave., and at the home of a daughter, Tisha Bennett, Apt. C-4, Boxwood Terrace.

Elizabeth Ann Hester
Elizabeth Ann Mills Hester, 60, of 126 Hitching Post Road, wife of Ronald Wayne Hester, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at her home.
Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Warren Odell and Virginia Lee Smith Mills. She was a member of Emerald Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Stephen Lyda of Greenwood; a daughter, Jessica Ann Graham of Greenwood; two grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Emerald Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Curt Edison, Scott McAlister and Herman Bradley. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Ray Scott, Gene Bullion, Jimmy Ray Madden, Greg Smith, Danny Ray Butler, Troy Sowell, Terry Boone, Jim Symmes and Robert Westmoreland.

Mrs. Zelma Owens
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC – Graveside Services for Mrs. Zelma Williams Owens, 87, of East Martintown Road, North Augusta, SC, who died July 12, 2004, will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock in Pineview Memorial Gardens. Dr. Gary C. Redding and Rev. Gerald Townsend officiating.
Mrs. Owens was a native of Greenwood, SC, a North Augusta resident of 50 years, having made Wellford, SC her home for the past 5 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta, the Hope Bible Class, the Sheffield Club and was the former co-owner of the Wayside Food Store. She was the wife of the late Mr. Leslie Allen Owens and mother of the late Allen Drew Owens, Sr.
Survivors include two grandsons, Allen Drew (Lea Ann) Owens, Jr., Beech Island, SC and James Thomas Owens, Graniteville, SC; three great grandchildren, Zachary James Owens, Sam Malone and Brittney Malone; a sister, Lura Williams Walker, Wellford, SC; a brother, James Strom Williams, Greenwood, SC; eleven nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from noon until 1:30.

Roosevelt Quarles Sr.
TROY — Roosevelt Quarles Sr., 65, of Route 1, Box 173, Mount Vernon Road, husband of Maggie Dansby Quarles, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at his home.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Robert Leroy and Hoover P. Quarles. He was a logger and a member of Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield County.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Mattie Q. Logan of Troy, Rosa Childs of Blair and Patricia Partlow of Greenwood; three sons, Roosevelt Quarles Jr. of Greenwood, Coosevelt Quarles of Ninety Six and Richard Quarles of Troy; two brothers, Wilbur Quarles and Thomas Quarles, both of Greenwood; a sister, Addie Poitier of Brooklyn, New York; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield, conducted by the Rev. Nathaniel Langford, pastor. Assisting are the Revs. Arthur L. Williams, Alberta Williams, Michael Neely, Bernard Newsome, Robert Dansby and Willie Glenn. Burial is in the church cemetery. Viewing is after the eulogy.
Pallbearers are Thomas Quarles, Floyd Quarles, John Willie Quarles, Arthur Parks, Wilbur Leroy "Coon" Robinson and Michael Quarles.
Flower bearers are Tammy Williams, Patricia Robison, Delouis Quarles, Sharon Quarles, Isabella Chamberlin and Flesha Quarles.
Visitation is 7-8 tonight at Parks Funeral Home.

Jerome ‘Runt’ Williams
LINCOLNTON, Ga. — Jerome “Runt” Williams, 49, of First Baptist Community, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004.
A son of L.M. and Nonie Banks Williams, he graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1973. He was employed with Lincolnton public schools and worked for Wright & Jones Funeral Home for more than 15 years. He was elected as a District 3 Commissioner for Lincolnton, serving until 2001, and owned H&S Community Store. A member of Prices Grove Baptist Church, he served as chief usher.
Survivors include his parents of Lincolnton; two sons, Julius Jerome Williams of Athens and Ja’vi Williams of McCormick, S.C.; three brothers, W.T. Williams of Columbia, Charlie Williams and Alphonzo Williams, both of Lincolnton.
Services were Saturday at Prices Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jackson Parks, pastor. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home.
Wright & Jones Funeral Home was in charge.
