SPEARFISH — Edith L. Sipe, 83, Spearfish, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at St. Anthony Central in Denver.

Arrangements are pending with Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home of Spearfish.

Gless Clarkson

RAPID CITY — Gless Clarkson, 87, Rapid City, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001.

She was born Nov. 25, 1913, at Rockyford, the daughter of George F. and Louise (Stirk) Colhoff. She grew up in the Rockyford area and attended schools there. She later attended Rapid City High School. Gless married Maurice W. Clarkson on Oct. 20, 1933, at Hot Springs. The couple ranched in the Rapid City area for 20 years, moving to Spearfish in 1966. They returned to Rapid City in 1989. Gless had lived in Rapid City since that time. While in Spearfish, she was a member of All Angels Episcopal Church and was presently a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Clarice Wilson and her husband, James, Rapid City; two sons, Richard Clarkson, Rapid City, and John Clarkson and his wife, Laurie, Clear Lake, Minn.; a brother, Ira Colhoff, Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Marcella Myers, Black Hawk, and Adelade Reese, Spokane, Washington; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, with Rev. William C. Hibbert officiating.

Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.

Dwight A. Baldwin

PIERRE — Dwight A. Baldwin, 67, Pierre, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, Albert Baldwin; four brothers, Loren and Howard Baldwin, both of Sturgis, Lee Baldwin, Pierre, and Dwain Baldwin, San Diego, Calif.; and two sisters, Lorrain Waack, Pierre, and Alice Ostboe, Spokane, Wash.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Sturgis, with the Rev. Ron Garry officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with Sturgis Area Veterans Honor Guard providing military honors.

Col. Charles Vanhorn Gardner

BELLE FOURCHE — Col. Charles Vanhorn Gardner, 83, Belle Fourche, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Gardner, Spearfish; a sister, Grace Conrey, Nashville, Tenn.; and two nephews.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, March 2, at Fidler Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Fidler Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, with the Rev. Cory Sateren officiating.

Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors provided by Sturgis Honor Guard.

Lori Donovan

RAPID CITY — Lori Donovan, 33, Rapid City, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in Rapid City.

Survivors include her two sons, Kyle Stoddard, Norris, and Tanner Donovan, Rapid City; her parents, Joe and Linda Stoddard, Norris; a sister, Jodi Stoddard-O'Daniel, Oglala; and a brother, Sam Stoddard, Norris.

Arrangements are pending with Rush Funeral Home of Philip.

Anastaysa K. Torres

SALT LAKE CITY — Anastaysa K. Torres, 3 months, Salt Lake City, Utah, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, in Salt Lake City.

Survivors include parents Anthony and Angela Torres, Salt Lake City; a brother, Johnathan Sun Bear, Salt Lake City; three sisters, Shandale, Tiffany and Alexandria Sun Bear, all of Salt Lake City; and maternal great-grandmother, Adeline Black Calf, Gordon, Neb.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at the Black Calf residence, with the Rev. Don Mink officiating.

Burial will be in Gordon City Cemetery in Gordon, Neb.

Arthur J. Wenzlik

KEYSTONE — Arthur J. Wenzlik, 72, Keystone, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Survivors include his wife, Erlys Wenzlik, Keystone; two daughters, Vicki Wenzlik, Denton, Texas, and Kathleen Fisher, Burlington, N.J.; and five sons, Larry Wenzlik, Keystone, Richard, Gary and James Wenzlik, all of Johnson Creek, Wis., and Dale Wenzlik, Brunswick, Maine.

Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City.

Lester C. Rollins

BLACK HAWK — Lester C. Rollins, 64, of Black Hawk, died unexpectedly on Feb. 27, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Lester, also known as "Les" or "Sonny," was born on May 2, 1936, in Avon, to Leonard C. and Ethyl T. (Robb) Rollins. Les was the oldest of seven children. On July 4, 1953, Les married Catherine C. "Peggy" Stinson. The couple made their home in Rapid City until moving to Black Hawk in 1958, where they have lived since.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was extremely proud of his four grandchildren. Les enjoyed working with heavy equipment, cars and trucks. Les worked for 46 years in the construction industry with Private Homes, R&S Construction and with his present employer, Hills Materials.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Rollins of Black Hawk; two daughters, Vicky L. Rollins-Smith of rural Rapid City, Penny L. Denton and her husband, Bryan, of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, DaLynn C. Rollins, Justin L. Rollins, Donavin L. Smith, all of rural Rapid City, and Noel C. Denton of Indianapolis; two brothers, Louis Rollins of White, Bert Rollins of Homestead, Fla.; four sisters, Lillian Hislop and her husband, Thomas Sr., of Rapid City, Betty Crovisier and her husband, Dean, of Rapid City, Edith Northup and her husband, Charles, of Bemidji, Minn., and Jackie Freidel and her husband, Howard, of Bow, Wash. He was preceded in death by his son, Leslie C. Rollins; father, L.C. Rollins; and mother, Ethyl (Robb) Carroll.

Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, at Black Hawk Community Church, with Rev. Allen Bates officiating. Interment will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.

A memorial has been established.

Ralph L. Mumm

GEDDES — Ralph L. Mumm, 77, of Geddes, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at his home in Geddes. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 3, 2001, at

2 p.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Geddes, with burial following at Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Geddes. Visitation will be Friday, March 2, 2001, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Clements-Wiese Funeral Chapel in Geddes.

A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Geddes.

Ralph L. Mumm was born Sept. 3, 1923, at Geddes, to Jacob and Margaret (Gau) Mumm. He grew up in this area and graduated from Geddes High School in 1940. He did farm work for a few years and then served in the U.S. Army from July of 1944 to Nov. of 1946. Ralph married Lavonne E. Larson at Fort George Meade, Md., on July 20, 1946. He began work for N.W. Bell in 1947, with most of the time in South Dakota as a supervisor of a crew burying cable. He worked for S.W. Bell in Texas from 1980 until 1985 when he retired to Rapid City. He and Lavonne moved to Geddes, in 1992. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Geddes, and K.C.s and Kiwanis Club in Rapid City.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Lavonne of Geddes; 10 children, Paul Mumm and wife, Connie, of Boise, Idaho, Cliff Mumm and wife, Christine, of London, U.K., Mary Schlepuetz and husband, Bill, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Theresa Knox and husband, Terry, of Avondale, Ariz., Ralph Mumm Jr. and wife, Sherrie, of Sturgis, Greg Mumm and wife, Rhonda, of Rapid City, Jerry Mumm and wife, Joanne Low, of Aurora, Colo., Tim Mumm and wife, Deborah, of Geddes, Susanna Coppernoll and husband, John, of Bryan College Station, Texas, and Lee Ann Mumm of Geddes; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Bernice McCormick of Salem, Elfrieda Tronvold and husband, Otto, of Geddes, and Dorothy Cronin of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a grandchild.

Charlotte A. Smith

RAPID CITY — Charlotte A. Smith, 49, Rapid City, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Smith, Rapid City; two children, Chad and Jason Sorenson, Alaska; her mother, Audrey Wendling, Worthington, Minn.; a sister, Pam Cuperus, Alexandria, Minn.; and three brothers, Randy Wendling, Rock Springs, Wyo., Bruce Wendling, Beresford, and Jeff Wendling, Worthington, Minn.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Rooks & Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Rooks & Kirk Chapel of Light in Rapid City, with the Rev. Dan Freed officiating.

Harold 'Butch' Lowell Gunter

CHAMBERLAIN — Harold "Butch" Lowell Gunter, 80, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Mid Dakota Hospital in Chamberlain.

Survivors include his wife, Marge Gunter, Chamberlain; four sons, Harold Gunter Jr., Sioux Falls, Steve Gunter, Piedmont, Gary Gunter, Chamberlain, and Dan Gunter, Anaheim, Calif.; a daughter, Vicki Stethem, Chamberlain; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Wevik Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain, with the Rev. L.I. Geyer officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Chamberlain.

Alice Pauline Hood

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Alice Pauline Hood, 84, Anaheim, Calif., formerly of Spearfish, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in La Habra, Calif.

Survivors include two daughters, Velva Addington, LaJuanta, Colo., and Dixie Korfanta, Anaheim; a son, Charles Hood, Mission Viejo ; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jim Coleman, Lynch, Wyo.

Arrangements are pending with Fidler Funeral Chapel of Spearfish.

Forrest Hulce

PRESHO — Forrest Hulce, 77, Presho, died Tuesday,

Feb. 27, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Elnora Hulce, Presho; two daughters, Dianne Marshall, Draper, and Darlene Leichtnam, Sioux Falls; two sisters, Alberta Verzani, Presho, and Helen Stracky, Burbank, Calif.; four brothers, Emmer Hulce, Midland, Robert Hulce, Waitsburg, Wash., Claude Hulce, Sun Valley, Calif., and Dennis Hulce, Chamberlain; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a 7:30 prayer service at Hofmeister Funeral Chapel in Presho.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at United Methodist Church in Presho, with the Rev. Steve Perry officiating.

Burial will be at Vivian City Cemetery.

Louis Williams

SPEARFISH — Louis Williams, 89, Spearfish, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at David M. Dorsett Health Care Facility in Spearfish.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Williams, Spearfish; two sons, Boyd Williams, Estes Park, Colo., and Keith Williams, Spearfish; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish and one hour before the service.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Carlsen & Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish, with the Rev. Bunker Hill officiating.

Masonic Rites will be conducted by Spearfish Lodge 18 AF&AM. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish.

Earl Eugene Walton

RAPID CITY — Earl Eugene Walton, 49, Rapid City, died Feb. 27, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He was born Aug. 2, 1951, at Huron to Kelsy and Esther (Olson) Walton.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Harvey of Washington; mother, Esther E. Farries of Deadwood; a sister, Sandra Blackwell and her husband, Bob; three brothers, Frank Walton and his wife, Dee, of Belle Fourche, Jerry Walton and his wife, Linda, of Pleasanton, Calif., Robert Walton and his wife, Virginia Walton, of Deadwood; three stepbrothers, Kenny Walton and Maurice Walton, both of Libby, Mont., and Leigh Walton of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kelsy; two brothers, Wayne, in infancy, and James Walton; grandparents on both sides; and a grandson, Seth Hanson.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 4, 2001, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Behrens Mortuary.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 5, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Behrens Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Hight officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
