Mary Nadean Smith
GAINESBORO -- Funeral services for Mary Nadean Smith, 84, of the Burristown community of Jackson County, were held at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial was in Lynn cemetery. Mrs. Smith died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at her residence.

She was born March 15, 1925, in Overton County to the late T.T. (Boss) and Maudie Flatt Huffines. Mrs. Smith was a retired factory worker and homemaker. She was a member of Poston's Chapel Community Church in the Burristown community. Her family includes two daughters and sons-in-law, Reita and Jerry White of the Dodson Branch community of Jackson County and Brenda and Bobby Scantland of Gainesboro; a sister, Gwendola Garrett of Anderson, Ind.; three grandchildren, Christy Kowalski and husband, Daniel, of Cookeville and Jeff Scantland and Marty Scantland and wife, Amanda, all of Gainesboro; and three great-grandchildren, Jake and Jaryn Scantland and Peyton Kowalski.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Luke Smith, who died July 28, 2006 (married March 19, 1947); four brothers, Hobert, Howard, Clarence and Fred Huffines; and two sisters, Gertrude Smith and Edith Masters. Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Rev. Charles Jones officiated at the services.

Huey Cecil Jones
GAINESBORO -- Funeral services for Huey Cecil Jones, 81, of Cookeville, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 15, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Jones died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, in Bethesda Health Care in Cookeville.

Ricky D. Bryant
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Ricky D. Bryant, 46, of Baxter, will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Crest Lawn Mausoleums. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 15, and from 11 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Bryant died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, in Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

He was born Jan. 23, 1963, in Carthage to the late Elmer C. and Ruth Mae Lindner Bryant. Mr. Bryant worked as a truck driver at Institutional Wholesale for several years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. His family includes his wife, Melissa J. White Bryant of Baxter; two daughters and a son-in-law, Christa M. and Jay Kanipe and April M. Melton, all of Baxter; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Derick H. Bryant of Baxter and Josh K. and Laura Bryant of Cookeville; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Teresa Bryant of Baxter; seven sisters and five brothers-in-law, Carol and Gene Elrod, Wanda Denny, Betty and Rick Herron and Tammy and Todd Bowman, all of Baxter, Catherine and Johnny Chaffin of Mt. Juliet, Rhonda and Jim Edmonds of Sparta and Mary Biggs of Crossville; a grandson, Jaydon I. Kanipe of Baxter; two granddaughters, Madison E. Kanipe and Ainsley A. Melton, both of Baxter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bryant. Donations may be made to the family to help with medical and final expenses. Bro. Fabron Nicholson will officiate at the services.

"Harry" Harry
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Donald Junior (Harry) Harry, 74, of Cookeville, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Zion cemetery in Jackson County. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 15, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Harry died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 8, 1935, in Croswell, Mich., to the late Alonzo and Agatha Levitt Harry. Mr. Harry was a retired truck driver with Dart Transportation. He was a Navy veteran and attended Hardy's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. His family includes his girlfriend, Glenna Knopp of Cookeville; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Katherine Alber of Vicksburg, Mich., Deborah and Isaac Wilson and Joyce and Joey Nemith, all of Martinsville, Va., and Teresa Rakes of Cookeville; three sisters, Betty Pringle of Carsonville, Mich., and Bertha Jarrett and Diane Irwin, both of Lewisburg; and four grandchildren.

Anna V. Barnes Boatman
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Anna V. Barnes Boatman, 81, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Paran cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 17, from 5-9 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 18, after 7 a.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Boatman died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Overton County to the late Lewis Payton and Tina Breeding Barnes. Mrs. Boatman was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Her family includes her husband, Harold Boatman of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Diane Boatman of Cookeville; a daughter, Patricia Grisham of Knoxville; a brother, Lloyd Barnes of Algood; four sisters, Josie Wilmoth of Dayton, Ohio, Dimple Geer of Monterey, Nola Silcox of Smyrna and Lois Larue of Atlanta, Ga.; and a granddaughter, Jessica Boatman of Algood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Barnes. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bro. Mark Gaw will officiate the services.

Emma Christene Bowman Eldridge
LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Emma Christene Bowman Eldridge, 83, of Algood, will be held Friday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will be in Martin cemetery in Allons. Family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 17, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eldridge died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, Masters Health Care Center in Algood. Speck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Willie Edward Parrish
SPARTA -- Mr. Willie Edward Parrish, 75, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at the Raintree Manor in McMinnville. No services are planned. Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bruce Allen Hartford Jr.
COOKEVILLE -- Private family services for Bruce Allen Hartford Jr., 43, of Cookeville, will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 5, from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. The family has chosen cremation. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Hartford died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at his home. He was born April 26, 1966, in Norfolk, Va., to Bruce Allen Sr. and Juanita F. Brown Hartford. Mr. Hartford worked as a construction worker at Sunshine Roofing. He was of the Native American descent. He was a devoted son, father, brother and friend.

In addition to his parents, his family includes a brother, Allen Hartford; his grandparents, Douglas and Lorene Brown; five aunts, Margaret Lowery, Lynda and Helen Hartford, Marvene Leverett, Irene Fisher and Cathy Merriman; five uncles, Roy Hartford, Michael Brown, Earl Merriman, Willy Fisher and Bill Leverett; his fiancee, Leslie; four children, Anna, Max, Sam and Bella; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Hartford; his grandparents, Kathleen and James Webb; and two uncles, H.C. Hartford and Harold Lowery.

Capt. Tony M. Brannon
JAMESTOWN -- Funeral services for Capt. Tony M. Brannon, 38, of Columbia, S.C., will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, from the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crockett cemetery, with military services at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home. Capt. Brannon died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, in Columbia.

His family includes his father, Ret. Command Sgt. Maj. Johnny M. Brannon of Jamestown; his mother, Sue Gunter Brannon of Jamestown; his wife, Jessica Rich Brannon of Columbia; four daughters, Alexandria and Krista Belle Brannon, both of Cookeville, and Alexis and Tori Brannon of Columbia; a son, Jacob Brannon of Columbia; his grandmother, Marie Gunter of Jamestown; two brothers, James Brannon and Chris Gunter, both of Jamestown; and a sister, Tiffany Brannon of Sevierville. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ret. Maj. James G. Brannon; his grandmother, Reva Threet; and his grandfather, Navy veteran Shelby P. Gunter.

Cleo Herron
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Cleo Herron, 77, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Judd cemetery in Baxter. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 5, and from 11 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Herron died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 21, 1932, in Putnam County to the late Christopher Columbus and Maggie Spears Lafever. Mrs. Herron was a production factory worker at Fleetguard.

Her family includes a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Michelle Dyer Herron of Cookeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Herron and Jalil Shahla of Brentwood; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Lillian Lafever of Cookeville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna Faye and Robert Mahan and Betty and Howard Eller, all of Cookeville; and a grandchild, Amir Joseph Shahla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Chip) Herron; two brothers, Herbert and Lonnie Lafever; and a sister, Elva Jean Lafever. Pallbearers will be Jalil and Amir Shahla, Robert Mahan, Ernie and Ethan Julian and Mike Hall. Bro. Mike Webb will officiate at the services.

Donna Marie Bartylak
LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Donna Marie Bartylak, 46, of Jamestown, will be held at noon today, Sunday, Feb. 7, at the home of Richard Breeding, 306 Sunset Drive, Byrdstown.

The family will receive friends at the service.

Mrs. Bartylak died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, in Overton County Nursing Home in Livingston.

Speck Funeral Home in Livingston is in charge of arrangements.

Estelle Haney
GAINESBORO -- Funeral services for Estelle Haney, 94, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pharris cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 7, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Haney died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, in Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro.

Derek Thomas Hawkins
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Derek Thomas Hawkins, 25, of Algood, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, at First Assembly of God in Cookeville.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of services on Monday at the church.

Mr. Hawkins died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 16, 1984, in Putnam County to James Thomas Hawkins of Cookeville and Debra Little of Algood.

His family includes his parents.

Bro. Bobby Davis will officiate at the services.

Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville is in charge of arrangements.

Misty Marie Stults Raines
MONTEREY -- Funeral services for Misty Marie Stults Raines, 29, of Monterey, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 7, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in Honey Springs cemetery in Crawford.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Raines died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at her home.

Delbert Dean Campbell
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Delbert Dean Campbell, 60, of Cookeville, were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home.

Mr. Campbell died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, in Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

He was born Nov. 1, 1949, in Flint, Mich., to the late Jesse and Irene French Campbell.

Delbert worked as a logistics manager with International Specialty Supply (ISS) and was a veteran of the Air Force. He also served as a Boy Scout leader for several years and was of the Protestant faith.

His family includes Connie Campbell; three sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert D. Jr. and Tuesday Campbell of Cookeville, Brian and Jennifer Campbell of White House and Scott and Jennifer Campbell of Nashville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon and Chris Doster of Mt. Juliet, Wendy and Sam Oliver of Iva, S.C., and Jennifer and David Campbell of Cookeville; a brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Linda Inman of Delray Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Lavina Cole of Sikeston, Mo., Ramona Anaya of Skidway Lake, Mich., Robin Campbell of Grandview, Mo., and Dawn Campbell of Flint, Mich.; 22 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jacquelyn Perkins, and a very special uncle, Charles French.

Clarence Bryant
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Joseph Clarence Bryant, 88, of Algood, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in Brotherton cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, and from 11 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bryant died Saturday morning, Feb. 6, 2010, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Putnam County to the late Joe Abston and Fannie Bilbrey Bryant.

Mr. Bryant owned and operated the East Side Shell Service Station for 25 years. He retired as head of maintenance at Plateau Mental Health with more than 20 years of service.

Mr. Bryant was widely known in the Upper Cumberland area for leading singing at various churches and nursing homes, and was a founding member of the Volunteer Senior Singing Group. He was a member of Baxter First Baptist Church.

His family includes three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Jan Bryant of Fort Wayne, Ind., Richard and Sue Bryant of Camarillo, Calif., and Dale and Linda Bryant of Cookeville; a daughter, Kay McCloud of Algood; a sister, Annice Bryant of Cookeville; a special friend, Martha Bryant of Baxter; a daughter-in-law, Lada Bryant of Cookeville; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Lois Caruthers Bryant; two sons, Don and Gene Ferrel Bryant; and a daughter-in-law, Lois Dean Bryant.

Rev. Jerry Blair will officiate at the services.

Deborah D. Hickok
COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Deborah D. Wagner Hickok, 54, of Cookeville, will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Cookeville Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2700 Hwy. 111 North in Algood. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 11, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home and from 3 p.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Hickok died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 27, 1955, in Crestline, Ohio, to the late Charles and Patricia Jean Bryner Wagner. Mrs. Hickok was a member of Cookeville Seventh Day Adventist Church and a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Her family includes her husband, Robert R. Hickok of Cookeville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sarah M. Hamby and Becky J. and Eric Clark, all of Cookeville, and April D. Hickok of Nashville; eight sons and three daughters-in-law, Nathan H. and Michael D. Hughes, both of Cookeville, Aaron S. and Josh N. Hickok, both of Algood, Charles D. and Brooke Hughes of Arkansas, Samuel P. and Amanda Hughes of Monterey and Ben Lee and Andrea Hickok and Jason D. Hickok, all of Nashville; a sister, Vickie Porter of Ohio; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Danny and Judy Sherrill of Chattanooga and David Wagner of Texas; and eight grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to The Mustard Seed Ranch in Cookeville.
