Gary Dean Fredenburg
1955-2004
CAMDEN - Mr. Gary Dean Fredenburg, 48, passed away on Saturday, May 29 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Mr. Fredenburg was born November 13, 1955 in Gowanda, New York to the late Edwin Gayus and Clara Merne Felt Fredenburg. He was a truck driver for the Digby Trucking Company. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Fredenburg.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Stauffer Fredenburg of Camden; and two brothers, Russell Fredenburg of Randolph, New York and Charles Fredenburg of Licking, Missouri.

Larry Vance Moody
1945-2004
GLEASON - Services for Larry Vance Moody, 59, were at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28 in the Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Sumner and Rev. Michael Simmons officiating. Interment icon followed in Hopewell cemetery.
Mr. Moody, a retired water superintendent for Gleason Water Department, died on Wednesday, May 26 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. He was a member of Gleason First Baptist Church.
He was born in Dyer on March 13, 1945 to Curtis and Irma Hugueley Moody of Gleason, who survive.
Also surviving are his wife, Sylvia Stigall Moody; one stepson, Eddie Stone of Gleason; one daughter, Angela Suratt of Paris; one brother, Jerry Moody of Gleason; two sisters, Linda Crawford of Gleason and Norma Parham of Dresden and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one stepson, Kenny Stone.

Lloyd D. Nored
1943-2004
PARIS - Services for Lloyd Duaine Nored, 60, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Jimmy Allison officiating. Burial followed in Shady Grove Cemtery.
A retired truck driver, Mr. Nored died Thursday, May 27 at Henry County Medical Center.
He was born in Henry County on November 24, 1943 to Addie Lou Ray Nored of Paris and the late James Everett Nored. He was an army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors also include two daughters, Tammy Price and Lisa Goode, both of McKenzie; one son, Timmy Nored of McKenzie; two sisters, Glenda Wright of Martin and Martha Foster of Dresden; four brothers, Gary and Phillip Nored, both of Paris, Michael Nored of Nashville and Terry Nored of Louisiana; and five grandchildren.
A brother, Lowell Nored, preceded him in death.

Carlus R. Owen
1920-2003
MADISONVILLE: Carlus R. Owen, 83, died on Tuesday, September 16 at East Tennessee Healthcare in Madisonville.
Locally he leaves a brother, Dewey L. Owen of Henry and a sister-in-law, Virginia Owen of Paris.
Services were held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 19 at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville with the Rev. Curtis Woods and Dr. Long Shoopman officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by Sweetwater VFW Post 5157 were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20 at the Haven Hill Memorial Gardens in Madsonville.
Owen, who was the son of the late Euin L. and Essie Owen, was the widower of Carolene Mason Owen. He was a retired schoolteacher, a Baptist and a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors also include a son, Charles Owen of Madisonvile; two brothers and sisters-in-law Max and Willene Mason of Niota and Huge and Marilyn Maughan of Athens and Loretta Coward of Fort Worth, Texas.
Two brothers also preceded him in death.

Lucille Marie Smith
1929-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Lucille Marie Smith, 74, died on Saturday, September 20 at Life Care Center in Bruceton. Services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 22 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Myers officiating. Interment icon followed in Ridgegrove cemetery in Lexington.
Mrs. Smith was born February 11, 1929 in Henderson County to the late Brady and Myrtle Johnson Hart. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by one sister, Eva Gean Rea and two brothers, Raymond Hart and Bobby Hart.
Survivors include four daughters, Becky Zurofsky of Lexington, Susan Britt of Jacks Creek, Gina Stubblefield of Lexington and Janette Singleton of Cedar Grove; three sons, Lewis Cary of Cedar Grove, David Smith of Union City and Michael Smith of Hollow Rock; four sisters, Veleta Bishop of Memphis, Pansy Henry of Paris, Chris Rogers of Arkansas and Judy McCann of Jackson; two brothers, Aaron Hart of Huntingdon and Steve Hart of Cedar Grove; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Wilford Tharpe
1928-2003
PARIS - Services for Wilford Tharpe, 75, were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20 at New Hope United Methodist Church in Mansfield with the Rev. Hamilton officiating. Interment icon followed at the New Hope Church cemetery with Trinity Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Tharpe died on Tuesday, September 16 at the Henry County Medical Center. He was a member of the New Hope Church.
He was born July 3, 1928 in Mansfield to the late Keith B. Tharpe and Winnie Babe Tharpe.
Survivors include three sisters. Esserdean Travis, Juanita Harris and Esther Robinson, all of Chicago, Illinois and one brother, Gene Tharpe of Mansfield.

H.B. 'Swat' Scarbrough
1914-2003
McKENZIE - Services for H.B. 'Swat' Scarbrough were held on Friday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dossie Wheatley and Rev. Harrell Nation officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Scarbrough, a retired businessman, died Wednesday, August 6 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Lions Club and was a Mason. He served on the McKenzie City Council for numerous years and was the Mayor of McKenzie for ten years. He was also inducted into the Bethel College Sports Hall of Fame in 1999.
He is survived by his son, Hugh Scarbrough of Huntingdon, his daughter-in-law Larenda Scarbrough and two grandchildren, Brad and Mary Margaret Scarbrough.
Mr. Scarbrough was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Carter Scarbrough, his parents, Samuel P. and Lenora Montgomery Scarbrough and a daughter, Emily Crandall.
The family request memorials for Mr. Scarbrough be made to the First United Methodist Church or Bethel College.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lonnie Martin Murphy
1918-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Lonnie Martin Murphy, 84, died on Tuesday, August 5 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, August 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Burns officiating. Interment icon followed in the Seventh Day Adventist cemetery.
The handlers and folders of the American flag were Sgt. Chad Perry, SPC Aaron Satchwill and the presentation was done by Cpt. Walton A. Moore.
Mr. Murphy was born on October 26, 1918 in Carroll County to the late John Erin and Cora Esther Kelly Murphy. He was a World War II army veteran who served in the South Pacific and received the World War II Victory Medal, Asian Pacific Theater Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, one Bronze Star, Republic of the Philippines Presidential Unit Citation Badge and was able to wear five Overseas Bars. He was also preceded in death by one son, Lonnie Murphy; one sister, Jewel Dean Murphy, and three brothers, Otis Murphy, Johnny Lee Murphy and one infant brother.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married May 24, 1945, Nancy Rogers Murphy; one daughter, Janice Foster of Huntingdon; two sons, Ronnie Lynn Murphy and Marty Lane Murphy, both of Cedar Grove; one sister, Ella V. Dunagan of Bartlett; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ernest Gordon Holladay
1926-2003
BRUCETON - Mr. Ernest Gordon Holladay, 76, died on Thursday, July 31 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, August 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. J.L. Fortner and Rev. John Columbus officiating. Interment icon followed in the Palmer Shelter cemetery.
Mr. Holladay was born October 3, 1926 in Carroll County to the late Ernest and Algie Crider Holladay. He was a retired truck driver for the Henry I. Siegel Company and a member of the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by two sister, Inell Sanders and Mozell Williams and four brothers Henry Dee Holladay, Audraine Holladay, James Holladay, and Holbert Laws.
Survivors include one son, Eddie Holladay of Huntingdon, a longtime companion, Lorraine Lloyd of Bruceton; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Louise Pritchard
1920-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Louise Pritchard, 82, were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 8 at Brummitt Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Pritchard, a BellSouth telephone operator for 35 years, died Wednesday, August 6 at NHC Healthcare in Milan.
She was born August 29, 1920 in Carroll County to the late Mila Bell Dailey Wilson and Edward Frank Wilson. She attended McKenzie Church of Christ and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Pritchard; a son, Don Pritchard of Memphis; a daughter, Linda Spain of Gleason; grandchildren Mike and Mark Spain and great-granddaughter, Allyson Spain.

Billy Ray Harper
1932-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Billy Ray Harper, 71, will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 4 at Cedar Avenue Chapel of the McKenzie Funeral Home with the Reverends Vance Rushing and Paul Conquest officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Harper, retired employee of General Motors in Lansing, Michigan, died Monday, December 1 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born March 27, 1932 in Como to the late Effie Jane Clark Harper and George Lindell Harper. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Lee Crocker Harper; two daughters, Carol Noonan of McKenzie and Joanne Large of Lansing, Michigan; a son, Michael Ray Harper of Bradford; three sisters, Elawease Ellis of Gleason and Faye Taylor and Shirley Morris, both of Greenfield; three brothers, George Harper of McKenzie and L.C. Harper and William Harper, both of Paris; three grandchildren, Mindy Jo Large of Lansing, Michigan and Carrie Noonan and Eric Noonan, both of McKenzie and one great-grandson, Blake Large of Lansing, Michigan.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Harper, James Harper and Raymond Harper.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 3 from 3:00-8:00 p.m.

Shirley Jean Hutcheson McCormack
1939-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Shirley Jean Hutcheson McCormack, 64, were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2 at Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Ricketts officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. McCormack died on Sunday, November 30 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born February 4, 1939 in McKenzie to the late Lillian Elizabeth Delaney Hutcheson and Rollie Clifton Hutcheson.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Roberts of Alamo and Debbie Shelton of Corinth, Mississippi; three sisters, Peggy Burton of Illinois, Betty Jo Reynolds of Gleason and Mary Jane Hutchins of McKenzie; a brother, John W. Hutcheson of Chewalla; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Roosevelt Hutcheson and Bell Clifton Hutcheson.
