Writesman, Sr and Mary Evelyn Maxwell Writesman who survives. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maureen Mitchell Writesman of Eagleville; 2 daughters, Tonya Taylor of Chapel Hill; Gena Garton of Eagleville; a son, Kyle (Jessica) Writesman of Chapel Hill; his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Writesman of Nashville; a sister, Patsy Writesman of Nashville; 2 brothers, Mike Writesman of Eagleville; Tim Writesman of Nashville; 5 grandchildren.

Fred Ralston Hobbs, age 63, of Eagleville, TN, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010. A native of Warren County, he was the son of the late Isaac Clarence Hobbs and Myrtle Ralston Hobbs who survives. He moved to Eagleville with his mother in 1949, after the death of his father. Mr. Hobbs was a beef cattle farmer and a retired realtor and auctioneer with 40 years of service. He served three terms as a State Representative and was a former Mayor of Eagleville for 12 years and served on the Rutherford County Board of Education as Chairman for 20 years. Mr. Hobbs was a member and Elder of the Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Read Hobbs of Eagleville; his mother, Myrtle Ralston Hobbs of Eagleville; daughter, Amanda Hobbs of Eagleville; 2 step-daughters, Tina Majors of Eagleville and Dawn (Thomas "Chip") Milliken of Eagleville; grandson, Wyatt Hobbs; step-grandchildren, Kodi and Kali Majors.

Carnettie Robinson Arbuckle, 95, of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, June 19, 2010. Mrs. Arbuckle has been a resident of Bradley Healthcare and Rehab for the past six years. She served the Lord as a pastor's wife for 52 years, sewing, cooking and caring for her family and others throughout Cleveland and the Middle Tennessee area. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was greatly loved by her whole family. Mrs. Arbuckle was a Sunday School teacher, active in many mission organizations and prayer groups. She also participated in numerous community service projects. In her later years, one of her favorite activities was singing with the Celebration Singers at Westwood Baptist Church. She was a member of Stuart Park Baptist Church at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Remus and Myrtle Dunn Robinson; three brothers, Truman Robinson, Harley Robinson and Crawford Robinson; husband, Reverend Marion Leonard Arbuckle, Sr.; one granddaughter, Sherry Maranita George and one great granddaughter, Raina Diane Miller.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Reverend Marion and Glenda Arbuckle of Beaufort, SC; daughters and sons-in-law: Jean and Elvis Brandon of Cleveland, Linda and William George, Sue and Douglas Newberry all of Antioch; grandchildren: Elvis and Lori Brandon of Old Hickory, Susan and Randy Smith of Ooltewah, Jennifer and Wade Sacca of Cleveland, Renee and Jim Tanner of Smyrna, Rick and Janie Newberry of Seminole, FL, Kristi and Kevin Holzimmer of Montgomery, AL, Natalie and Allen Thompson of Murfreesboro, Julie and Kyle Riddle of Louisville, KY and Ryan Arbuckle of Beaufort, SC; eighteen great grandchildren: Cody and Noah Brandon; Alexandria, Jake, Ben and Luke Smith; Matthew, Cole and Sydney Sacca; Kayla and Kristin Jackson; Caleb and Benjamin Newberry; Eli, Anna and James Riddle; Henry and Aalina Holzimmer; brother, Dewey B. Robinson of Murfreesboro; sister, Robbie Lee Oglesby of Mt. Juliet and several nieces and nephews.

Jeff Boyett, 42, of Rockvale, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Centennial Medical Center. Jeff was born in Nashville and was a 1984 graduate of McGavock High School and a 1989 graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University. Jeff attended New Heights Chapel.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Richard Len Boyett; sister, Stephanie Joe Barnhill; step father-in-law, Samuel Hicks; sister-in-law, Tammy Cassidy Walker. He is survived by his wife, Julie Boyett; two sons, Cameron Len Boyett and Matthew Len Boyett; two daughters, Katelyn Marie Boyett and Miranda Marie Boyett, all of Rockvale; mother, JoAnn McDonald of Ashland City; grandmother, Dorothy Sanders of Nashville; mother-in-law, Evelyn Hicks of Murfreesboro; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Jeff was a dedicated father, husband, son and friend and will be deeply missed by all.

Edna Ghee Blanton, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, June 8, 2010 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, after a brief battle with leukemia. Born in Holts Corner to the late Will and Mattie Ghee, she was the widow of Joe Edd Blanton and daughter-in-law of the late Carroll and Myrtle Blanton. Mrs. Blanton was currently a resident of Wellington Place, of Brentwood, and formerly lived in Rover for 70 years. She was a member of Promise United Methodist Church and attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rover. Survived by daughter, Norma June Blanton Miller of Nashville; sister, Pauline Beasley of Chapel Hill; brother, Aubrey (Marjorie) Ghee of College Grove; sister-in-law, Ruby Mai Farrar; brother-in-law, Franklin Blanton. Also survived by Bitty Bit (Rhett Rover) and Mama Kitty. Loved by many family and friends. Truly the "virtuous" woman described in Proverbs: "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches and loving favor rather than silver and gold", always preferring other over herself. A hard working farmer's wife and a farmer herself, she kept her cattle until 86 years of age. She was known for her wonderful meals she prepared for many, her beautiful smile and putting smiles on other's faces.

David Lee Swenson, age 77, of Arrington, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at his home. A native of Roland, IA, he was the son of the late Lester and Alice Alsager Swenson.
Mr. Swenson is survived by his wife of 56 years, Herma Twedt Swenson; sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Karen Swenson, Mark and Kim Swenson, and Jonathan and Christy Swenson, all of Murfreesboro; sister, Beverly Wiese of Iowa City, IA; and grandchildren, Scott, Hunter, Tucker, and Allison Swenson.
Mr. Swenson was Baptized and Confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, IA and is a member at First Lutheran Church in Nashville. He was a 1950 graduate of Roland High School, and started his career with Firestone in Des Moines, IA in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957 and retired from Bridgestone-Firestone after 45 years of service. Mr. Swenson was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Kilstofte, a brother, Gary Swenson and a granddaughter, Ashley Swenson.

Dwight Edwin Dunaway, age 63, of Unionville, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010. A native of Marshall County, he was a son of the late Price Dunaway and Margaret Hobbs Dunaway who survives. Mr. Dunaway was a retired machine operator with Stanley Tools. In additions to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Street.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Penny R. Dunaway of Unionville; two sons, Eddie and John Dunaway, both of Unionville; two grandchildren, Jeremiah and Gillian Dunaway; two sisters, Sandra Woodard of Lewisburg; Connie Prosser of Mt. Juliet; brother, Larry Dunaway of Alabama.

Annie Lee Sheppard Caldwell, age 82, of Unionville, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 in Lewisburg. Mrs. Caldwell was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Hobert and Bessie Hopkins Perryman. She was a homemaker and had retired in 1993 from Cosmolab, Inc. of Lewisburg. Mrs. Caldwell was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elder Harry Sheppard who died in 1996 and by a step-son, Alvin Caldwell, who died in 2007.
Mrs. Caldwell is survived by her husband, James Caldwell, Chapel Hill; daughter, Shirley (Glenn) Whaley, Lewisburg; son Phil (Avis) Sheppard, Unionville; step-son, Boyd Caldwell, Chapel Hill; three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Ruth Hayes, age 84, of Chapel Hill, formerly of Paris, Tennessee, went to be with JESUS Sunday, May 23, 2010. Mrs. Hayes was a daughter of the late Lona and Jessie Davis Langford. She was a homemaker and was retired from the Paris Post Intelligencer newspaper. Mrs. Hayes was a longtime member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Paris and is currently a member of Caney Springs Baptist Church near Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by her husband of 67 years, Homer Hayes, Chapel Hill; a daughter, Judy (Steven) Heath, Spring Hill; son, James (Naomi) Hayes, College Grove; grandson, James (Lora) Hayes, Jr., Brentwood; two great grandchildren, Autumn Elizabeth Hayes and James Hunter Hayes.

Linda J. Douthit, of the Arrington community, went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2010, after a three-year battle with cancer. She was born in Madison, TN, on September 2, 1949, to W.P and Eleanor Lyell, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; son Andrew of Nashville; daughter Karen (Chris) Mazzella of Thompson's Station; sister Susan White of Maryville; two grandchildren Johnathan and Isabelle Mazzella; one niece, and two nephews.
She was a member of the Concord Road Church of Christ and had been employed in the legal field in Franklin for many years.

Marianne Bierman Van Arsdale, age 56, of Eagleville, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 after an extended illness. A native of Cincinnati, OH, Mrs. VanArsdale was the daughter of the late Charles and Fern Bierman. She was an accountant for Tractor Supply, Inc. of Brentwood.
She is survived by her husband, Danny VanArsdale of Eagleville; a daughter, Devin VanArsdale of Eagleville; three brothers, Charles Bierman of Cincinnati, OH, Jack Bierman of Griggs, ID and Gary Bierman of Cincinnati, OH.

Jeannette Mae Stephanie DeCosta Moates, age 73 - Aug. 2, 1936 - May 14, 2010.
Jeannette passed peacefully of lung cancer at her daughter's home in Thompson's Station. She resided in Eagleville. She is predeceased by her mother Ethel Simmons DeCosta Seifert of Provincetown, father Lawrence DeCosta of Provincetown and Florida and great grandchild, Davaan McDuffie. Survived by brother, Larry DeCosta of Provincetown; son, Karl (Daphne Turner) Moates of Nashville; son, Craig (Deborah) Moates of Eagleville; daughter, Stephanie (David) Grau of Thompsons Station. Five grandchildren: Joshua (Gretchen) Moates of College Grove, Bryan (Christie) Moates of Columbia, Andrea (David) McDuffie of Murfreesboro, Matthew Hensley of Nashville & Ian David Grau of Thompsons Station. Five great grandchildren: Makayla Moates, Brayden Moates, Jamon Moates, Amaris McDuffie, Josiah McDuffie.
Jan was a native of Provincetown, Massachusetts, at the tip of Cape Cod. After High School she married
, Edward B. Moates and moved to the south. Over the years, their respective family and careers took them to KY, FL, UT, OK, CA and finally back to TN to live on a 90 acre farm. Jan worked her entire life... her last career for 20+ years before retirement in 2000, was in purchasing for a franchise food chain organization (DavCo, formerly Southern Hospitality). After she raised her children and retired from a Monday'Friday job, she finally got the chance to do the things she enjoyed - stay up late, sleep late, relax on the farm, dance, sing, play ukulele, games and cards, travel and spend time with her family & friends.
Rest in Peace, dear lady. You are greatly missed and deeply loved. A special thank you to the Red Hat Society and Fifty Forward members.
Charles Hershel Darnell of Chapel Hill, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Nashville. Mr. Darnell was born in Marshall County and was a son of the late Leslie Allen Darnell and Gertrude Boling Darnell Rainey. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Darnell was the retired owner of Darnell and Son Tile Company in Chapel Hill. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill.
Mr. Darnell is survived by his wife, Marie Darnell, Chapel Hill; five sons, Chuck (Nancy) Darnell, Eagleville, Joe (Jan Meredith) Darnell, Chapel Hill, Jeff ( Jan) Darnell, Chapel Hill, Jimmy (Tasha) Darnell, Chapel Hill; Jamie (Julie) Darnell, Murfreesboro; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; special friends, Mary Katherine and Kim Gutledge, Dalton, GA.
