Ralph "Bubba" Marshall II, 45, of Eagleville, died Sunday, April 10, 2005. He was a native of Bedford County. He was employed with Crosslin Supply Company of Eagleville and was a member of the Eagleville Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by wife Janice Marshall, of Eagleville; daughter Nicole Marshall Demers, of Murfreesboro; mother and father Ann and Ralph Marshall, of the Mt. Vernon community of Rutherford County; sisters Suzanne Simpson, of Unionville, Brenda Ellis, of Murfreesboro; grandparents Mrs. Eva Lucille Little and Hubert and Clara Little, both of Mt. Vernon community.

Audra Mae Vaughn, 51, of Chapel Hill, died Friday, April 8, 2005.
Miss Vaughn was a native of Marshall County and was a member of Riggs Church of Christ. She was a teacher recently retiring from Eagleville Elementary School were she taught for many years. Audra was a member of the class of 1972 of College Grove School and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. She received her masters degree from Tennessee State University.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Ann Kelley Vaughn who died in 2002.
She is survived by her father, Andy Vaughn of the Flat Creek Community; sister, Karen Potts of the Flat Creek Community; brother, Anthony Vaughn of the Flat Creek Community; cousins, Barbara Scott and Vanda Kelley of the Laws Hill Community; niece, Chelsea Elizabeth Hastings.

DR. LUTHER PARMALEE CHRISTMAN
Dr. Luther Parmalee Christman, age 96, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in Nashville, TN. Mr. Christman was born in Summit Hill, PA and was a son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth Barnicoat Christman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mary Black Christman who died in 2003, and by a granddaughter, Mary Lee Christman.
Dr. Christman’s pioneering and enduring legacy in the profession of nursing passed into history at Vanderbilt University Hospital on June 7. Dr. Christman was a tireless and articulate advocate for nurses and nursing throughout his career and, eventually, rose to the highest peaks of his profession. He served as an inspirational role model for male nurses in a career choice with few men at the beginning of his career. His influence helped open the field to men who were interested in nursing as an occupation.
Dr. Christman was the first male dean of a school of nursing in the country and served in various capacities from a psychiatric hospital floor nurse to Dean of Nursing at several major American universities. They included U of Michigan and Michigan State, Vanderbilt and Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center where he was its Vice President as well as Dean. His outspoken views on the field of nursing were enlightening and influential, not only in America, but all over the world. He lectured in Turkey, Japan and Sweden among other places.
Dr. Christman was a fellow of the Academy of Nursing and was considered an innovator of new models for nursing practice and training regimens. He favored baccalaureate and graduate education for nurses, primary care, nurse autonomy in practice, and clinical expertise and accountability. In 2004, he was inducted into the American Nurses Association’s Hall of Fame. In ‘07, the American Nurses Assn. began awarding a Luther Christman award to those who have furthered the cause of men in nursing.
Dr. Christman is survived by daughters, Judi Kinney and husband, Tom Kinney, McFarland, WI, Lillian Christman and husband, Hank Blakely, Reston, VA; son, Gary Christman; grandchildren, Kelly Kinney and friend, Darren Feller, Lindsey Kinney and husband, Seth Hartwick, Nicholas Blakely; great grandchildren, Bruce Paul Kinney Hartwick and Crystal Powell; four great great grandchildren; caregivers, Cindy Burkett, Rhonda Dalton West, Margie Cheek, Sandy Shultz, Brittney Dalton, Annie Kelley, Megan Quann and Markela Cashion.

Minnie Lee "Mrs. Minnie" Gaunty Brasfield, 71, of Eagleville, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, in Nashville following an extended illness. She was a native of Lincoln County, a homemaker and was a member of the Eagleville Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Sally Dee Gaunty and was also preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law: Ricky Lee and Kathy Beech; son-in-law and fishing buddy Gene Ewing; sister-in-law Pauline Gaunty.
She loved God, her family and friends, fishing, gardening, music, dancing, reading and talking on the telephone. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by husband James Brasfield, of Eagleville; daughters Patty Ewing, of Nashville, and Kathy (Jerry) Rogers, of Murfreesboro; son Terry (Cheryl) Beech, of Nashville; sisters Dovie (Gene) Keller and Monnie (Gordon) Walker, both of Fayetteville, and Joy (Don) True, of Eagleville; brother Charles Gaunty, of Nashville; nine grandchildren: C.L. Castleman, Steve (Nikki) Lemaster, David Beech, Casey (Michael) Davis, Matthew Beech, Mark Beech, Jacklyn (David) Heaton, Tonya Beech, Terri Harwell; nine great-grandchildren: Brian, Cody, Cristy, Kayla, Shana, Krista, Justin, Rachael and Eli.

William Lake Maxwell Jr., age 77, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Bedford County Medical Center in Shelbyville.
Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by his parents, William Lake Maxwell Sr. and Mattie L. Hayes Maxwell; daughter Cindy Maxwell; and brother Homer Maxwell.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Sue Freeman Maxwell of Shelbyville; daughter Jennifer Maxwell Jarrell of Shelbyville; grandchildren Heather Hill of Fayetteville, Tenn., Hillary Maxwell of Murfreesboro and Alex Jarrell and Seth Jarrell, both of Shelbyville; great-grandchildren Seibers and Justin Hill of Fayetteville, Tenn.; brother Bob Maxwell of Murfreesboro; sisters Flora Haynes of Murfreesboro, Florence Wheeler of Lewisburg, Evelyn Writesman and Anna Middleton, both of Nashville, and Julia Fisher of Rockvale; and a host of other relatives, friends, neighbors and loved ones.

Eugene Kenneth Dougherty, of Rockvale, passed Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Vanderbilt Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
He is survived by sons Gene (Miriam) Patient of Murfreesboro, Rick (Tonya) Patient of Smyrna and Bryan and Daniel of Battle Creek, Michigan, daughter Elizabeth of Battle Creek, Michigan; mother Flora Daniels of Seminole, Florida; step-mother Alice Dougherty; brothers Harry (Amy) Dougherty of Florida and Edmond Dougherty Jr. of Battle Creek, Michigan; sisters Kris Field of Florida and Dawn of Battle Creek, Michigan; grandchildren Zoe Patient and Caroline Patient; his extended family, Terry J. (Ann) Patient, Misty Patient, Seth Gray, Christy Patient and Gary Mann; and two former wives, Ruthan Patient and Roxanne Dougherty.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he lived most of his life in Battle Creek. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. He retired from Amitech, where he had been the union steward for the local CWA for many years. He was an EMT with the Battle Creek Ambulance Service for many years. He recently moved to Tennessee and worked on the NASCAR Busch Series team of Sadler Racing, based in Nashville, as a fabricator.

Lucy Kate Norris Lumpkin, 85, of Rockvale, formerly of Clarkesville, Georgia, went to be with her heavenly Father Tuesday, March 15, 2005.
She was a native of Habersham County, Georgia, and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Rockvale.
She was a daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Ethel Lucindy Gabriel Norris. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years: John Merion Lumpkin, who died in 1998; daughter Doris Smith; and grandson David Kemp.
She is survived by daughters Mrs. Emily Barr, of Rockvale, and Ann Kemp, of Brookland, Michigan; son Larry Lumpkin, of Clarkesville, Georgia; sisters Mrs. Louise Norris, of Modesto, California, Mrs. June Howard, of Toccoa, Georgia, and Mrs. Ellen Elrod and Mrs. Emma Sliger, both of Demorest, Georgia; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

James Owen, age 64, of Eagleville died Thursday, March 3, 2005, in Murfreesboro.
A native of Moore County, Mr. Owen was the son of the late Henry B. and Margaret Matilda Meeks Owen. He was a former police officer for the City of Eagleville and was retired from Recom Plastics of College Grove.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Owen of Eagleville; daughters Lisa (Don) Drake of Lewisburg and Sherry Owen of Eagleville; sons Mark (Jeanie) Owen of Shelbyville, Bradley Owen of Eagleville and Jeff (Karen) Owen of Fosterville; brother Bob Owen of Lynchburg; and seven grandchildren.

Lillian Petersen Jackson, 76, of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Northside Health Care Center. She was a native of Orange, New Jersey, and spent most of her life in New Orleans, Louisiana, and St. Petersburg, Florida. She had been a legal secretary with Geico Insurance Co. and a member of Advent Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Elna Christensen Petersen; stepmother Piete Petersen; and husband Clyde A. Jackson.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by daughter and son-in-law Piete and Jim Ferguson, of Rockvale; and three grandchildren: Jimmy, Charlie and Billy.

Mary V. "Snookum" Little, 90, of the Rockvale community of Rutherford County, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in Murfreesboro.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her father and mother: Hugh and Clara Ray Scott; her husband, Raymond L. Little, who died in 1998; and by a brother: Norman Scott.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Vivian L. and Steve Spencer, of Rockvale; sister Alene Clifton, of Rockvale; step-granddaughter Tracy Amos, of Columbia; step-great granddaughter Haleigh Amos, of Columbia.

Mary Giles Lytle, age 89, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2005. She is preceded in death by her father and mother: Blake A. Giles and Blaine Martin Giles; her husband, Ephraim F. Lytle; sister Robbie M. Giles; three brothers: Walter Giles and wife Audrey, Henry Giles and wife Roberta and B. A. Giles. She is survived by two sons: Thomas F. Lytle and wife Judy of Ocean Springs, Miss., Robert E. Lytle and wife Brenda of Warner Robins, Ga.; three grandsons: Robin Lytle and wife Kim of Florida, Chris Lytle and wife Gina of Indiana, and Brian Rader of Tennessee; five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her niece, Connie Wright, husband Edmund and their children in Murfreesboro were always faithful in their visits and care. She held them in a special place in her heart. She is survived by Tom Thompson, a longtime Murfreesboro family friend and neighbor who helped Mrs. Lytle through many medical crisis.
Mrs. Lytle was born in Eagleville on Aug. 27, 1915, graduating from Eagleville High School as valedictorian at age 15. She practiced as a beautician in Murfreesboro until her retirement. After retirement, she kept up her active membership at First Baptist Church of Murfreesboro, doing volunteer work in the Christian Life Center. She delivered for Meals on Wheels and was active in the Senior Citizens Center of Murfreesboro. She always found time to visit friends and family. She could always be counted upon to keep everyone laughing at her sharp wit and sense of humor.
Mrs. Lytle lived at Stones River Manor in Murfreesboro from 2001-2004 where she received loving care and kindness. She lived three years to the fullest while receiving treatment for Alzheimer's at the Stones River Geriatric Clinic in Woodbury. Her health worsened, necessitating a move to Summer's Landing in Warner Robins, Ga. Recurring infections and a recent heart attack ended her life on the morning of February 17, 2005. Her sons, Tom and Bob, vividly remember in several life threatening situations during the past two years that Mrs. Lytle prepared herself to be with her Lord and was completely at peace with her relationship with Him. It gives great solace to her family to have witnessed her open discussions about her mortality as well as her intense love and trust in her Lord.
