She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by a son, Ken Ellis; sister, Bessie Morris; and father and mother-in-law, Bill and Mary Ellis. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Ellis of Sewanee; a son, Tim (Sue) Garner of Sewanee; a daughter, Mary Beth (Mark) Tytus of Roselle, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Val Ellis of Bakersfield,  Calif.; six sisters, Jean Morris, Jannie Throneberry and Mary (Herschel) Tatum, all of Winchester and Brenda (Jackie) Johnson, Roxy Johnson and Kathryn Posey, all of Cowan; grandchildren, April McElhenie of Lynchburg, Va., James Ellis of Bakersfield,  Calif., Zackrey, Austin and Mitchell Garner of Sewanee, Anna and Luke Tytus of Roselle, Ill.; and great-grandchild, Justin McElhenie of Lynchburg, Va. Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at 5 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Nave and Rev. George Guess officiating. BOHANAN, James H., Sr., age 76 of Cowan died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at St. Thomas Hospital. He was born in Cowan, the son of the late Henry and Gladys Bohanan. Mr. Bohanan was retired from the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Bohanan and Jerry Welch. He is survived by his wife, Velma Bohanan of Cowan; a son, James H. (Patricia) Bohanan, Jr. of Aubrey,  Texas; two sisters, Clara Margaret Stewart and Gertrude Robins; grandchildren, Crystal, Jessica, Jerry and T.J.; great-grandchildren, Paige, Mason and Leila; and several nieces and nephews. CROWNOVER, William, age 102 years and 17 days, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 in Nashville. He was born in Anderson, the son of the late William Solomon and Elizabeth Kelley Crownover. He was a Chief Dispatcher last employed by Union Pacific Railroad. In addition to his parents, Mr. Crownover was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Buchanan Crownover; sister, Elizabeth Campbell; and brothers, John "Jady" Crownover, Richard "Dick" Crownover, George Crownover, Walter Crownover and Kelley Crownover. Mr. Crownover is survived by a sister, Claudia Crownover Shanks of Nashville and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 at 5 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester. BISHOP, Sue Nell Strope, age 83, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 at Lincoln Skill Care Center. Mrs. Bishop was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. She loved flowers, cooking and sewing. Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Jessie Strope, Jr.; second husband, William Mitchell Bishop; sister, Lena Reynolds; and brothers, Hoyett Cook and B.O. Cook. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Becky) Strope and James (Jean) Strope, both of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Robert Anthony Strope, Jennifer Laine Stanly, Jessica Leigh Honey, Emily Anne King and Julia Anna Townsend; step-son, Kenneth (Mary Alice) Bishop of Lexie Crossroads; step-grandchildren, Donna Mason, Ken Bishop, Sammy Shields Whitworth and Steven Scott Whitworth; 19 great-grandchildren and a brother, Marshall D. (Ruth) Cook of Springfield. Visitation was held Saturday, July 23, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home in Winchester. The funeral service was conducted Sunday, July 22, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of the Watson-North Funeral Home with Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Interment icon followed in the Maxwell Cemetery with Roy Butler, Dennis Noah, Danny Strope, Mike Strope, Carl Strope, and David Cook serving as pallbearers. JACKSON, Nola Lee Steele, age 83, died Sunday July 22, 2007. She was born in Franklin County on Feb. 28, 1924, the daughter of the late Perry Francis Steele and the late Mary Ashley Steele. She was a member of the Goshen Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Lee Jackson; brothers and sisters, General Steele, James Levi Steele and an infant sister; and son-in-law, Paul Smith. Mrs. Jackson is survived by two brothers, J.B. Steele and special sister-in-law, Lorene Steele and Leroy Steele; two daughters, Mary Frances Hanger and husband Bill Hanger, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Smith; grandchildren, Cindy Money Arnold, David Money, Jr., Keven Smith, Laura Money May, Michael Smith and Bill Hanger, Jr.; step-grandchildren, Camie Hanger Bennett, Dawn Hanger Parker, Lisa Hanger and Hope Hanger Wilkinson; great-grandchildren, Lauran Arnold, Jesse May, Lydia Money, Joshua May, Mary Money, Sean Smith, Zachary Smith, Anna Money, Hannah Smith and Jocelyn James; step-great-grandchildren, Leslee Bennett, Brian Bennett, Katie Bennett, Mark Parker II, Seth Parker, Alex Esposito, Hunter Esposito, Robbie Wilkinson, Maranda Wilkinson and Joseph Wilkinson; step-great-great-grandchild, Mason Phillips; special friends, Allan and Cody Huber; and numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends. SOLOMON, Julia Ann, age 86 of Winchester, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center Skilled Care in Winchester. She was the owner and operator of Julia’s Beauty Center in Winchester for 55 years, retiring on Jan. 1, 2007 at the age of 86. She was a member of the Winchester Church of Christ. Mrs. Solomon was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Solomon; son, Charles Solomon; and sisters, Sadie Solomon, Clara Spradlin, Virginia Carroll and Lillian Kelly. She is survived by her grandson, Stacy (Denise) Solomon of Winchester; sisters, Helen (Julius) Lightfoot of Winchester and "Billie" Mildred (Henry) Davis of Tullahoma; and several nieces and nephews. STANFORD, Teri Elizabeth, age 16 of Winchester, died Monday, July 23, 2007 in Rainsville, Ala. She was born in Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of Victoria Kay Stanford of Normandy and Michael L. Skelly of Orlando, Fla. Miss Stanford was a student at Franklin County High School. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Sierra L. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Grady Ivey and the late Tommie Lee Baker Ivey. She was a homemaker. She is survived by a son, Michael D. Hannah of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Patricia Ann Demumbreum of Goose Creek, S.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. BAINER, Liselotte (Lisa), age 76 of Cowan, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma. She was born in Germany on Jan. 23, 1934 and was a seamstress. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Payne and Sonja Bucher and a son, Bruce Payne, all of Cowan. Visitation was held on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. HICE, William Edward "Bill," age 93 of Estill Springs, passed away on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at Willows of Winchester. Mr. Hice was a retired electrician for the State of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hice and Carrie Fisher Hice; two brothers, Houston Hice and Robert Hice, Jr.; and a son, Dennis Hice. Survivors include his daughter, Dana Hice of Valparaiso, IN and a son, William E. Hice, Jr. of Chicago, IL. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. DOW, John Elden, age 86 of Winchester, passed away on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Alma, NE the son of Lois and Glen Dow. Mr. Dow was an Electronics Tech. and retired from FAA in Hillard, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; two daughters, Joy Webb of Manchester and Jan Vickery of St. Augustine, Fla.; a son, Gary Dow of Boise, ID; two grandsons, Eric Golden of Manchester and Zachary Vickery of Boise, ID; great-grandson, Logan Golden of Manchester; and siblings, Gerald A. (Rachael) Dow of Mesa, Ariz. and Elma Jean (Roland) Waggoner of Republican City, Neb. There will be no public memorial service.

BLAIR, Joe, age 91 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at The Willows. Mr. Blair served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II in the Pacific on the aircraft carrier WASP. He attended Owens Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Blair was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Carlton Blair; several brothers and sisters; and his parents, Stephen and Lassie Williams Blair. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Blair Atkinson and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home in Winchester.
