Laura J. Payne, 61, of Memphis, retired machine operator for Kellogg's, died Sunday at Methodist South Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Lake Cormorant with burial in the church cemetery there. M.J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home Whitehaven Chapel has charge. Mrs. Payne, the widow of Frank Payne, leaves her stepmother, Fannie Rice; five sisters, Lucy M. Lee, Dorothy Johnson, Yolanda Griffin, Nona Logan and Linda Green, and two brothers, Adrain Rice and Ted Smith, all of Memphis, 23 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Dr. Richard James Reynolds Jr., 90, of Memphis, retired dentist, died Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today at St. John's Episcopal Church, where he was a parishioner. Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a member and president of the Rotary Club, former president of American College of Dentists, Memphis Orchestral Society Board of Directors, Memphis Wine and Food Society, Chevalier de Tastevins, Chaines de Rotisseurs and Memphis University Club for 57 years, a board member of Dental Examiners, a founding member and principal clarinetist of Memphis Symphony and co-founder of the Memphis Boys Choir. Mr. Reynolds, the husband of Anne Tuthill Reynolds, also leaves a daughter, Helen Reynolds Patterson of Germantown; two sons, Dr. Richard James Reynolds III of Fallbrook Junction, Calif., and Wayne Reynolds of Charlotte, N.C., and nine grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Trezevant Manor or St. John's Episcopal Church.

Charles J. Robertson, 51, of Memphis, employee of Memphis Veterans Medical Center, died there Thursday. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at N.J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Burr Oak cemetery in Chicago. He was a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran. He leaves two sisters, Terry Martin of Chicago and Carol Cline of Memphis, and four brothers, Derrick Robertson of Memphis, Perry Robertson and Billie Robertson, both of Chicago, and Michael Robertson of Minneapolis, Minn.

Ernest Lee Scott, 60, of Memphis, truck driver, died Tuesday at Memphis Veterans Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at N.J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home with burial at 9 a.m. Thursday in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Scott, the husband of Carolyn Scott, also leaves three daughters, Stephanie Butler, Brenda Coleman and Tracey Porchay, and three sons, Ernest Scott Jr., Jerome Scott and Eric Scott, all of Memphis; three sisters, Vivian Prince and Phyllis Joseph, both of Memphis, and Estella Davis of Peoria, Ill.; five brothers, Andrew Benford, Howard Scott and Michael Parker, all of Memphis, Charles Benford of Detroit and Elvis P. Benford of Alexandria, Va., 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Naomi Shannon Smith, 98, of Memphis, retired private home nurse, died Monday at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Baptist Church, where she was a member and an usher, with burial in Union cemetery. R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home has charge. Mrs. Smith, the widow of Isaac Smith, leaves a sister, Margaret Hayes of Pasadena, Calif., and a grandchild.

Marcless 'Bill' Sneed, 79, of Millington, farmer, died Wednesday at Methodist North Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Wilkinsville, Tenn., where he was a member, with burial in Northridge Woodhaven cemetery in Millington. Jefferson Mortuary in Millington has charge. He was the first black member of the In-South Bank Board of Directors in Millington, a member of the Tipton County Agriculture Committee and Tipton County Community ASC Committee and the recipient of Governor Alexander's Tennessee Outstanding Achievement Award and Jesse Jackson's Award for Excellence in Farming. Mr. Sneed, the husband of Allean Tolbert Sneed, also leaves two daughters, Carolyn M. Sneed Rich of Memphis and Donnie C. Sneed McVay of Millington; seven sons, Carl Anthony Sneed, Marcelles Sneed Jr. and Marvin Sneed, all of Millington, Barry Sneed, Kenneth Ray Sneed and Terry Sneed, all of Atoka, and Daryl Kirk Sneed of Chicago; a sister, Mattie Sneed Wherry of Memphis; two brothers, Sollie Sneed Jr. of Millington and James Sneed of Atoka, 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Bonnie Spracher, 58, of Cordova, financial adviser and former corporate trust manager for Morgan Stanley, died Wednesday in Cordova. Bartlett Funeral Home has charge. She was a graduate of Memphis State University. Mrs. Spracher, the wife of Stephen Spracher, also leaves a son, Michael P. Spracher of Memphis; her mother, Jean St. Clair of Mount Joy, Pa.; her father, Pat St. Clair of Lancaster, Pa.; two sisters, Carol Hebbe of Mount Joy and Lynne Hebbe of Lancaster, and a brother, Pat St. Clair of Dale City, Va. He was president of the Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce and the Covington Country Club.
