She is also survived by 2 stepsons, Rick and Ronnie Collum, sister Francis Catlett of Arizona, 18 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Frederick Veazey DeCuir, Jr., 75, of Memphis, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2005. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Sherwin Williams Paint Company. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday, June 30, from 5-7 p.m. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Lutheran Church with burial at Memorial Park. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Lina Jeanette Watkins DeCuir; 2 daughters, Alice Denise Harris of Horn Lake, MS and Susan Jayne Hyde of Memphis; 2 sons, Orean Mason "Chip" DeCuir of Bowling Green, KY, and Andrew Keith DeCuir of Massapequa Park, NY; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Robert Zotique Gravel, 92, of Memphis, Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Bright Glade Convalescent Center. He was preceded in death by Marguerite (Molly), his wife of 59 years, and son, Daniel. He leaves a daughter, Mona Arreola of Memphis; 2 sons, Kenneth Gravel of Portland, OR and John Gravel of Woodstock, VT; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a Chief Quartermaster in the U.S. Navy, a veteran of World War II, he served in the Mediterranean and was a plank-owner on the U.S.S. Philadelphia, which was known as the "Galloping Ghost of the Sicilian Coast." Upon leaving the Navy he worked for 20 years in the United States Civil Service in Key West, Florida. After retirement, he served for many years as a Red Cross volunteer at the U.S. Navy Hospital in Key West and Orlando, Florida. He was a member of Mystic Lodge, Free and Accepted Order of Masons and a Royal Arch Mason in the York Rites. He was an honorary member of the Anchor Lodge and Dade Lodge in Key West, Florida, and a lifetime member of Star in the East Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Hampden, ME. A self educated man, he was a lover of opera, world travel, and baseball and was an enthusiastic fan of the Atlanta Braves. Milton "Guy" Joyner, Sr., 83, of Memphis died at his home Tuesday, June 28, 2005, after a long battle with cancer. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Maxine; 2 daughters, Judy Jennings of Fair Grove, MO, and Beverly Carroll of Castle Rock, CO; his son, Guy Jr. of Cordova, TN; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with an Anti-Tank Company of the 338th Regimental Combat Team in Italy, and he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received outside Rome. Returning from the war, he began a 35 year career with the International Harvester Company, from which he retired. He was a longtime member and ordained Deacon of Raleigh Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2005, at Raleigh Springs Baptist Church, 5322 Banbury Avenue, with interment icon to follow at Forest Hill East cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Memphis Funeral Home- Poplar Chapel. Mr. Joyner will also lie in state at the church beginning at 9 a.m. Friday. She was past historian for the Senior Citizens Service Center. She is survived by a son, William R. Seals oif Memphis, 2 daughters, Brenda Bassford of Memphis, and Marilyn Franke of Collierville, and one sister, Hazel Haire of Memphis. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a very special grandson, Tim Seals, who took care of her during her long illness.
