Jerry Meeks
27 November 1950 - 3 October 2009

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Meeks, age 58, of Dellrose will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Ketchum officiating. Burial will follow in Barnes cemetery. Mr. Meeks passed away Saturday evening at Lincoln Medical Center.

A son of the late Paul Hurn and Alma Brannon Meeks, he was a native of Lincoln County, formerly employed with Fayetteville Public Utilities, was a tree surgeon, and attended Beech Grove Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years Dovie Jean Holder Meeks, daughters Deirdre Pierce and husband Jared of Fayetteville and Angie Shaddy and special friend Mike Cook of Elkmont, AL, grandchildren Laura, Adam, and Paul Pierce of Fayetteville and Rebbeccah, Ethan, and Sarah Shaddy of Petersburg, brother Steve Meeks of Fayetteville, niece Kim West of Petersburg, and nephew Chris Meeks of Nashville. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Ronnie Meeks.

Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM Monday evening at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Barnes cemetery Care Fund, C/O Sarah Barnes, 249 Barnes Hollow Rd., Fayetteville.

Mary (Hall) Hill

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hall Hill, age 79, of Huntsville will be conducted Tuesday at 1 PM at Wright’s cemetery. Mrs. Hill passed away Monday morning at Regency Retirement Home in Huntsville.

A daughter of the late Oscar Edward and Sadie B. Mitchell Hall, she was a native of Giles County, and a retired clerk.

Survivors include sisters Jean Hopkins of Hazel Green, AL, Martha Thompson of Huntsville, and Patty Smith of Lacey’s Spring, AL, brother O.E. Hall of Huntsville, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Drucilla Sullivan and Bobbie Joyce Jennings, and brothers Edward, Joe, Ford Hall and Jerry Wayne Hall.

There will be no visitation with the family at the funeral home prior to the service.

Doyle Weir
28 August 1935 - 28 October 2009

Funeral services for Mr. Doyle Lee Weir, age 74, of Old Huntsville Road will be conducted Saturday at 3 PM at Park City Baptist Church with Rev. Don Russell and Rev. Lon Ostrzycki officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland cemetery. Mr. Weir passed away Wednesday evening at his residence.

He was the son of the late Comer Weir and Ola Shubert Weir who survives. A native of Lincoln County, he was formerly employed with Mid State Medical and Serbin Fashion and a member of Park City Baptist Church were he served as Deacon and Trustee.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Loyce Moffett Weir, daughters Kim Lasater and husband Tom, Tammy Valentine and husband David, Son Daryl Weir and wife Darlene, grandchildren Dusty McPherson and wife Kymber, Shane McPherson and wife Stephanie, Ashlea McPherson, Aaron Lasater, Kerry, Chelsea, and Austin Valentine, Andrea Lee and husband Jeremy, and Murray Stubblefield and wife Alice, and 3 great-grandchildren. Mr. Weir was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Moon, and brother Jimmy Weir.

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 4-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN. 38105 or Hospital Home Health and Hospice of Lincoln County at 1797 Wilson Parkway Fayetteville TN. 37334.

Florence Gray
16 August 1921 - 15 November 2009

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Askins Gray, age 88, of Fayetteville will be conducted Tuesday at 2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens beside her late husband Clemmie Gray who passed away in 1994. Mrs. Gray passed away Sunday evening at Lincoln Care Center.

A daughter of the late Ross Hamilton and Vela Templeton Askins, she was a native of Lincoln County, formally employed at the National Store, and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter Emily Gray Dailey and husband Chet of Fayetteville and sister Alese Motlow of Fayetteville, Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by a sister Julia Hopper, brother Billy Askins, half-brother David Askins, and half-sister Kathryn Martin.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 12-2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Glendon Marie (Sullivan) Fitch
10 January 1937 - 6 January 2010

Funeral services for Mrs. Glendon Marie (Sullivan) Fitch, age 72, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 2PM Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Lon Ostrzycki officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect cemetery beside her late husband Jerry Fitch who passed away in 2009. Mrs. Fitch passed away Wednesday January 6th at Donaldson Care Center.

She was a native of Lincoln County, and a daughter of the late Berkley and Martha Bell Sullivan. Mrs. Fitch was a homemaker, and was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter Terri Honea and husband Terry of Fayetteville, grandchildren Rachel Honea of Fayetteville, Corey Fitch of Huntsville, and Amber Luke of Chattanooga, great-grandchildren Daniel and Evan Luke, and a brother Rex Sullivan and wife Marie of Fayetteville, nieces Cindy Marshall and McKenzie Sullivan, and nephew Barrett Sullivan, and many other nieces and nephews, and special friends of West Point Drive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Sharon Dodgin.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Etler Berry "E.B." Davis
22 February 1910 - 12 February 2010

Funeral services for Etler Berry “E.B.” Davis II, age 99 of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Mike George presiding. Born at home on Washington Street February 22, 1910 to Etler Berry Sr. and Leota Pearl Webster Davis, he was the youngest of eight children. He attended elementary and high school in Fayetteville, graduating cum laude form Central High School in 1930. After one year at Duke University his education was cut short by financial constraints brought on by the Great Depression. Joining Belknap Hardware in Louisville, KY he advanced from the stockroom to the sales force. Serving as Belknap’s sales representative for Mississippi he mat and subsequently married Kathleen Elizabeth Halbrook of Belzoni, MS in 1942. She was the daughter of James Halbrook, the proprietor of a local hardware store. As a WWII draftee he served overseas in New Guinea as a member of the Army Air Corp, returning after two years at the end of the war. After discharge from the service he returned to Fayetteville and established Davis Hardware, operating that institution for over forty years until the death of his wife in 1990. He is survived by two sons, Etler Berry Davis III of Houston, TX and James W. Davis and wife Jane L. of Cookeville, TN, and by four grandsons, Judah, Andrew, Zachary, James and wife Allison, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 4-7 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Ashlei Niacole Luttrell
March 30, 1983 - March 5, 2010

Funeral services for Ms. Ashlei Niacole Luttrell, age 26, of Hazel Green, will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Joe King and Rev. Chad Mukley officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Family cemetery. Ms. Lutrell passed away at her residence.

A daughter of the late Lucinda Gail Luttrell and Troy Ray Boyett and wife Karen who survives, she was a native of Madison Co., AL and was a photographer for Hue Counts Photography.

In addition to her father and his wife, she is survived by nanny Barbara Cothren of Hazel Green, AL, grandfather Robert Smith of Fayetteville, aunts Lenis Storey of Hazel Green, AL, Teresa Luttrell of Fayetteville, Mary Dodge of Murfreesboro, brother Bradley, sister Kali, special cousins Amy Puryear of New Market, AL, Jennifer Flemming of Murfreesboro, TN, Sheridan Boyett of Hazel Green, AL, Matthew Sunaga of Murfreesboro, Chad Storey of New Market, AL, Dwaine Storey of Troy, AL, Eli Boyett of Hazel Green, Mike Boyett, Brooke Boyett, Hope Boyett, all of Madison, AL, and Morgan Richardson of Lincoln County, and several other loving aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by grandmother Myrtle Smith.

Visitation with the family will Monday from 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Flossie Bean
9 August 1920 - 13 March 2010

Graveside service for Mrs. Flossie (Tallman) Bean age 89, of Fayetteville will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 PM at Wrights cemetery with Bro. Lance Wiser officiating. Mrs. Bean passed away Saturday morning at Lincoln Medical Center.

She was the daughter of the late James Herman and Ethel Mae Sumners Tallman, a native of Lincoln County, and worked in the cafeteria at Boonshill School for 24 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her son Joe Larry Bean and wife Marijo of Petersburg, daughter in-laws Faye Bean of Spring Hill, TN and Faye Bean of Fayetteville, sister-in-law Emma Lee Tallman of Cornersville, 8 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Mrs. Bean was preceded in death by sons John Lewis Bean and Thomas Huston Bean and brothers Carlee Tallman and Doug Tallman.

There will be no visitation prior to the service. Higgins Funeral Home is in charge of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Fayetteville Square or charity of your choice.

Odelle (Rainey) Foster
11 February 1916 - 26 March 2010

Funeral services for Mrs. Odelle (Rainey) Foster, age 94, of Fayetteville will be conducted Monday at 2PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery beside her husband Kenneth Grady Foster. Mrs. Foster passed away Friday morning March 26th in Lincoln Care Center.

She was a native of Limestone County, AL, a homemaker and a member of the Molino Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters Nancy Towry and husband Charles of Colorado Springs, CO, and Virge Ryan and husband Tom of Huntsville, two sons George Foster and wife Sherry of Bryan, TX and Tony Foster and wife Carol of Fayetteville and daughter-in-law Evelyn Foster of Livermore, CA., 17 grandchildren 36 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by son Kenneth Foster and grandsons Charles Towry Jr. and Aaron Foster.

Visitation with the family will be Monday from noon until time of services at 2PM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Molino Church of Christ or Jr’s House.

Clyde Wilson Rogers
30 May 1931 - 29 March 2010

Funeral services for Mr. Clyde Wilson Rogers, age 78, of Ocala, Florida formerly of Lincoln County, will be conducted Friday at 11AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Phil Rogers and Bobby Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Rogers passed away Monday at his residence in Florida.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late John and Elizabeth “Betty” Sullenger Rogers. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a farmer.

Survivors include his sons Gary, Terry and David Rogers all of Ocala, FL, and Robert Rogers of Beloit, WI, daughters Rosemary Rogers Sly of Ocala, FL, Rita Dominguez of Beloit, WI and Cheryl Rogers McDonnell of Ocala, FL sisters Edwina Hughes of Adrian, MI, Virginia Cowley of Fayetteville, brothers Lawrence Rogers of Mulberry, James Rogers of Clinton, NJ, Billy Rogers of Mulberry, Ray Rogers of Lynchburg and Clay Rogers of Tullahoma and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Leonard Rogers and two sisters Sue Thomas and Margie Rogers.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
