Funeral services for Mr. Carl Denton Harris, 56, of Jamestown, were conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2001, from the chapel of Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown with Bro. Chester Rhoad officiating. Burial was in the Livingston cemetery in Jamestown with Mundy Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Harris died Thursday, February 8, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born January 16, 1945 in Fentress County.
Survivors include four brothers, Edward Harris and Gary Harris, both of Jamestown, Hubert Harris, Alexandra, IN, and Glenn Harris, Celina; and four sisters, Opha Threet and Christine Jones, both of Jamestown, and Edna Bilbrey and Chestolene McGee, both of Livingston.
Pallbearers were Rick Threet, David Wright, Larry Simpson, Jeff Campbell, Roger Bilbrey, and David England.
Claude Bowman and David Bowman
Joint funeral services for Mr. Claude Bowman, 80, of Roseville, MI, and Mr. David Bowman, 78, of Monterey, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, February 21, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Clayton Padgett officiating. Burial will be in the Love Joy cemetery with full military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard. Goff Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The brothers died Saturday, February 17, 2001, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Claude Bowman was born January 24, 1921, and Mr. David Bowman was born September 28, 1922. Both were born in Overton County to the late Walter Lee and Faith (Masters) Bowman.
Mr. Claude Bowman was a WWII Army Veteran, a millwright in Michigan, and a member of the Millwright Union Local #1102 in Michigan. He was a commissioner in Roseville, MI, from 1950 to 1956. He was also a past VFW Post Commander in Howard City, MI, where he was a member.
Mr. David Bowman was a retired machinist for General Motors, a WWII Army Veteran, and a member of the Royal Oak Masonic Lodge in Madison Heights, MI, where he was a past Master. He was also a member of the Crossville VFW Post #5025, a Royal Arch Mason - Chapter #167 in Madision Heights, MI, and a fundraiser for the Special Olympics. In addition to their parents, the brothers were preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Bowman and Helen Eaton, and two brothers, Leslie Bowman and Marshall Bowman.
Mr. Claude Bowman is survived by two sons, Lonnie J. Bowman, Warren, MI, and John Claude Bowman Jr., Columbus, OH; a grandson, Robert John Bowman; and a great grandson, R.J. Bowman. Mr. David Bowman is survived by a daughter, Rita Bowman, Brighton, MI; a son, Michael Bowman, Bozeman, MT; and three grandchildren, Andrew and Meghan Sochocki and Ezra Bowman. The brothers are also survived by a sister, Bertle Eaton, Rockwood, and two brothers, Ray Bowman, Rockwood, and Walter Bowman, Monterey.
Charles "Bug Davis" Lane
Funeral services for Mr. Charles "Bug Davis' Lane, 69, of Twinton, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial was in Falling Springs cemetery in Allred with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Davis died Monday, Jan. 28 at his home. He was a retired construction worker.
Born April 29, 1932, in Davidson, he was the son of the late Sherman and Mattie (Davis) Lane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ray Golden.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Claiborn) Lane, Twinton; a daughter, Callie Lane, Twinton; three sisters, Claudine Richardson, Twinton, Linda Rice, Columbia, KY, and Pauline Threet, Muncie, IN; a brother, Bobby Dixon, Lafayette, IN; and two grandchildren, Daniel and Clayton.
frances Thrasher
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Thrasher, 63, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. A.J. Cox officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Thrasher died Monday, Jan. 28 at her home. She was a retired nurses assistant at Livingston Regional Hospital and a member of Allons Church of Christ.
Born September 23, 1938, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Elsie (Swallows) Looper.
Survivors include her husband, Sam Thrasher, Livingston; three daughters, Linda MacGuire, Knoxville, Wanda Phillips, Muddy Pond, and Rhonda Mainord, Rickman; three brothers, L.J. Looper, Monterey, Doyle Looper, Ashboro, NC, and Jim Looper, Troy, OH; six sisters, Jeanette Murphy, Battle Creek, MI, Jewell Solinski, Bay City, MI, Clarice Collier, Essexville, MI, Johnnie Buell, Vandalia, OH, Mellean Bilbrey, Livingston, and Neda Davidson, Troy; and three grandchildren.

William Bailey Swift

Mr. Swift died Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Rivergate Convalescent Center in Riverview, MI. He was a retired service manager/auto dealership and a member of the American Cancer Society.
Born December 23, 1934, in Whitleyville, he was the son of the late Wiley Sr. and Aline (Bullington) Swift. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale Edward Swift.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah (Swift) Auer, Monroe, MI; two sons, George "Al" Swift, Garden City, MI, and Sid Swift, Taylor, MI; a sister, Elise Williamson, Castalian Springs; three brothers, Wiley Swift Jr. and Bob Swift, both of Cookeville, and Ralph "Sam" Swift, Nashville; and five grandchildren, William Swift, Tiffany Swift, Elizabeth Auer, Ashley Auer, and Rebecca Swift.
Mary Lou (Dodson) Stockton

Mrs. Stockton died Friday, Feb. 1 at Masters Health Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Dodson Chapel Methodist Church.
Born May 14, 1909, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Nora (Danner) Dodson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyce Stockton; and two brothers, Hollis Dodson and Robert Dodson.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Roger Reed, Algood; a stepson, Aubrey Stockton, Algood; a sister, Jewell Daniels, Rickman; two sisters-in-law, Clista Dodson, Brookville, OH, and Jessie Dodson, Lebanon, IN; a special grandson, DeWayne Reed, Algood; a step granddaughter; two step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Benny Carl Mott

Rev. Mott died Saturday, Jan. 26 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a retired minister.
Born April 2, 1938, in Sparta, he was the son of Lily (Pinegar) (Mott) Griffin and the late Isacc Merlin Mott.

Farley J.B. Ledbetter
Funeral services for Mr. Farley J.B. Ledbetter, 76, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene McCowan officiating. Burial was in Miller cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Ledbetter died Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was retired from NelmÕs Market, affiliated with First Freewill Baptist Church, and a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Born December 12, 1925, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Overton and Mary Jane (Andrews) Ledbetter.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Ledbetter, Livingston; a son and daugther-in-law, Larry and Marchia Hunter, Livingston; a brother, Stanley Ledbetter, Indianapolis, IN; a granddaughter, Mariah Hunter; and several nieces and nephews.
Mable (Reed) Knox
Funeral services for Mrs. Mable (Reed) Knox, 81, of Monterey, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, from Monterey United Methodist Church with Rev. David Adams and Rev. Bill Baisley officiating. Burial was in Welch Memorial cemetery with Goff Funeral Home of Monterey in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Knox died Tuesday, Jan. 9 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. She was a member of the Monterey United Methodist Church, worked as an LPN nurse from 1951-1962 at Monterey Hospital, 1963-1980 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, and 1982-1988 at Standing Stone Health Care Center.
Born March 16, 1920, in Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late W. Carroll and Drucilla (Jones) Wyatt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Horace Baisley, J. Talmadge Reed, and Roscoe Knox; a grandson, John Baisley Williams; two sisters, Wealtha (Wyatt) Baisley and Glennis (Wyatt) Hamilton; four brothers, Ridley Wyatt, Lester Wyatt, Justin Wyatt, and Browder Wyatt; and four stepchildren, Harvey Reed, Talmadge Reed Jr., Clara (Reed) Bagwell, and Libby (Reed) Beaty.

Mary Ruth (Gross) Jones

Mrs. Jones died Thursday, Jan. 31 at her home. She was a homemaker, of the Baptist faith, a member of the Hillcrest FCE Home Demonstration Club, and a craftsperson in crochet, sewing, and other different kinds of crafts.
Born November 29, 1929, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Addie Elizabeth (Woods) Gross.
Survivors include her husband, Charles O. Jones, Alpine; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lavada and Bob Skakun, Cleburne, TX, Cheryl and Larry Thomas, Jonesville, MI, and Elana Jones, Arlington, TX; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Iris and Clara Jones, Horton, MI, and Thoren Jones, Jackson, MI; two sisters, Doris Hollifield and Linda Cook, both of LaFollette; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Mildred Darlene (Masters) Huber

Mrs. Huber died Sunday, Feb. 3 in Dayton, OH. She was a homemaker and of the Assembly of God faith.
Born August 30, 1932, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late James Millard and Della (Barlow) Masters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Loftis and Virgie Smith; and five brothers, Haskell Masters, Willis Masters, Jack Masters, Elmer Masters, and Roy Masters.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Gary Kosins, Sebastian, FL; five sisters, Lula Hawkins, McMinnville, Pearl Ford, Dayton, Ruby Carwile and Irene Malone, both of Cookeville; and Ruth Brown, Livingston; and two grandchildren, Carilon Kosins, New York, and Roman Kosins, Colorado.
William Taylor "Bill" Hall
Funeral services for Mr. William Taylor "Bill' Hall, 78, of Monroe, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, from First Christian Church in Livingston with Rev. Dee Ledford, Robert Ziehmer, and Jesse Bradshaw officiating. A naval military graveside service with full military honors was conducted by Ft. Campbell Military Honor Guard. Burial was in Bethsaida cemetery in Monroe with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hall died Sunday, Jan. 13 at Livingston Regional Hospital. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he was retired from U.S. Navy and FFA Air Traffic Controllers Association. He was a deacon and Elder Emeritus at First Christian Church and a member of the Disciples Class of First Christian Church, the Naval Fleet Reserve Association, VFW USS Enterprises CV-6 Association, and the Air National Guard.
Born November 28, 1923, in Paintsville, KY, he was the son of the late Ellis Clayton and Myrtle Mae (Slavens) Hall Nottingham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Watts Hall and Ralph Cassander Hall; and one sister, Clyda Kathryn (Hall) Mize.

Olene Gunter
Funeral services for Mrs. Olene Gunter, 79, of Largo, FL, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Mrs. Gunter died Wednesday, Jan. 30 in Pinellas Park, FL. She was a box factory worker, a member of Bethsaida Christian Church in Monroe, and quilting was her hobby.
Born November 5, 1922, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Vera (Hill) Smith.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Goldberg, Largo, FL; a brother, Glenn Smith, New Bern, NC; a sister, Lois Reagan, Livingston; a granddaughter, Lisa Black, Seminole, FL, and four great grandchildren.
