Sallie Gertrude Watkins
Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Gertrude Watkins, 83, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. A.J. Looper and Rev. Terry Crabtree officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Watkins died Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a factory worker, a cab service owner, and a member of Christ Chapel United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

Born October 10, 1919, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Obe and Josie (Ledbetter) Speck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Watkins; a son, Larry Watkins; four brothers, Cecil "Buzz' Speck, Ray Speck, J.D. Speck, and A.B. Speck; and a sister, Edith Crabtree.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Thurman Langford, Livingston; two grandsons and their wives, David and Kathy Langford and Danny and Lisa Langford, all of Livingston; two great grandsons, Cody Langford and Collin Langford; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Rick McDonald, Brian McDonald, Gary Lee Threet, Gary Lynn Threet, Jeremy Crabtree, Scott Lamb, Darius Sims, and Randall Richardson.

Samuel Turner Wilborn
Memorial services for Mr. Samuel Turner Wilborn, 88, of Livingston, were conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at St. John cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Wilborn died Saturday, Oct. 19 at Overton County Nursing Home. He was a farmer.

Born December 9, 1913, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Barlow Chowning and Molly Jane (Holman) Wilborn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight sisters, Betty Wilborn, Margie Wilborn, Cassie Wilborn, Lou Logan, Mahalla Kernell, Fannie Coffee Keefee, Minnie Pearl Garrett, and Mattie Harvey; and four brothers, Cordie Wilborn, Joe Wheeler Wilborn, George Wilborn, and Jimmie Wilborn.

Survivors include a brother, Walter Wilborn, Fairfield, IL; a very special great niece and caregiver, Patsy Wilborn, Livingston; and several other nieces and nephews.

Clara Dorothy Burnette
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Dorothy Burnette, 80, of Celina, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Minister Dennis Miller officiating. Burial was in the Moss cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Burnette died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Born October 23, 1920, in Moss, she was the daughter of the late Welcome Greenie Pennington and Josie Bell (Clancy) Pennington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Downing Burnette; and a sister, May Netherton.

Survivors include two daughters, Priscilla Pace, Hendersonville, and Judy Burnette, Celina; a brother, Mitchell Pennington, Tompkinsville, KY; two sisters, Nova May, Moss, and Deane Goad, Tompkinsville; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Oliver Eugene "Gene" Davidson
Funeral services for Mr. Oliver Eugene "Gene" Davidson, 64, of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2001, from the Jefferson Ave. Church of Christ in Cookeville with Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Burial was in the Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Whitson Funeral Home of Cookeville in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Davidson died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at his home. He was a former news writer for the Nashville Banner, and had been Sports Director and radio announcer for WHUB radio station for over 40 years. He was a graduate of Tennessee Tech and was inducted into the Tennessee Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a pitcher for Jefferson Ave. Church of Christ. He attended both Sycamore and Jefferson Ave. Church of Christ.

Born November 5, 1936, in Jackson County, he was the son of Mable (Flatt) Davidson of Cookeville and the late Ralph Davidson.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Delores (Eldridge) Davidson, Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dana Davidson, Cookeville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Teresa Pugh and special friend, Roger Gambrell, Cindy and Daniel Eich, and Amanda and Bryan Street, all of Cookeville; five brothers, Myrrl Davidson, Baxter, Wallace Davidson, and Tommy Davidson, both of Jackson County, Bobby Davidson and Billy Davidson, both of Cookeville; and nine grandchildren, Brandon Flatt, Matthew Pugh, Tyler Pugh, Hollie Pugh, Josh Eich, Brad Eich, Sarah Eich, Molly Davidson, and Rachel Davidson.

Pallbearers were Mike Medley, Martin Medley, Frank Layne, Hoke White, Stacy Mott, Mike Dyer, Eldon Burgess, and Gene Wilhite.

Willie Heron Thompson
Funeral services for Mr. Willie Heron Thompson, 89, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Harold Walker and Bro. Cleve Hitchcock officiating. Burial was in the Dodson Chapel cemetery with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Thompson died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a farmer and of the Methodist faith.

Born October 10, 1911, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Raleigh John and Lou Minnie (Boatman) Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a brother, John Thompson; and four sisters, Cloa Judd, Clara Barnes, Arkie Hammers, and Anna Dell Presnall.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie Dimple (Boatman) Thompson, Cookeville; four sons, Roy Thompson, Raymond Thompson, and Ricky Thompson, all of Cookeville, and Varden Thompson, Rickman; four daughters, Carlene Scott, Sue Phillips, and Mary Thompson, all of Cookeville, and Janice Thompson, Livingston; a brother, Edward Thompson, Florida; three sisters, Alba Reid and Emogene Ritchson, both of Old Hickory, and Ben Elise Dyer, Cookeville; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and three great step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mark Scott, Kyle Thompson, Elliot Thompson, Kenneth Lynn, Mark Watts, Terry Robinson, Mark Brown, and James Thompson.

Norma Gail (Townsley) Steward
Funeral services for Ms. Norma Gail (Townsley) Steward, 44, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Sisco officiating. Burial was in the Hunter Cove cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Steward died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She was a factory worker and of the Baptist faith. Born December 23, 1956, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Bonnie Lewis of Livingston and Fred Townsley.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include a brother, Fred David Townsley, Indiana; two sisters, Jackie Townsley and Diane George, both of Livingston; two special nieces, Sondra Melton, Livingston, and Shonna Phillips, Cookeville; 7 nieces and nephews; and 10 great nieces and great nephews.

Pallbearers were Patrick Cole, P.J. Cole, Jeff Cole, Billy Cole, Thomas Smith, and Tim Sells.

Anna Mae Starry
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Mae Starry, 63, of Chattanooga, were conducted at 1 p.m Monday, June 4, 2001, from the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Elder Mark Bresee officiating. Burial was in the U.S. National cemetery with the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Starry died Thursday, May 31, 2001, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was a member of Hamilton Community Seventh Day Adventist Church and the adult sabbath school class. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Tina Marie (Norrod) Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Garrett.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Starry, Chattanooga; two sons, Kenneth E. Starry and Thomas Starry, both of Chattanooga; a daughter, Tina Powell, Collegedale; two sisters, Reba Allred, Livingston, and Wilma Howard, Crawford; a brother, Ellis Jones, Crawford; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ron Sampley
Funeral services for Mr. Ron Sampley, 37, of the Highland Community of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Denman Frazer officiating. Burial was in the Welch Memorial cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Sampley died Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Nashville. He graduated in 1986 from Tennessee Tech with a degree in journalism, and has worked for Inman Publishing, International Book Search, The Denver Post in Denver, CO, the Colorado National Bank, the Dispatch, the Cookeville News Advocate, and the Tennessean in Nashville for the last 7 years and was a member of the Monterey Church of Nazarene.

Born March 3, 1964, in Harriman, he was the son of Jerry and Jo (Molden) Sampley of the Highland Community of Overton County. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Linnie Sampley.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister, Carol Sampley, Highland Community; and maternal grandparents, Jessie and Merlie Molden, Nancy, KY.

Frank McIlvain
Funeral services for Mr. Frank McIlvain, 98, of Xenia, OH, will be conducted at noon today, Wednesday, June 6, 2001, from the chapel of Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro, OH, with Jeff Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Springboro cemetery with Turner & Son Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. McIlvain died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at the Greenewood Manor in Xenia, OH. He was a retired welder and farmer, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of Sugar Tree Ridge Church of Christ.

Born October 16, 1902, in Virgie, IN, he was the son of the late John David Bates and Catherine (Reber) McIlvain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maude (Tindall) McIlvain; a son, Richard McIlvain; and a grandson, Tony King.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Frank B. and Helen McIlvain, Livingston; two daughters, Gwen King, Xenia, OH, and Patricia Ann West, Ft. Wright, OH; a daughter-in-law, Ann McIlvain, New Carlisle, OH; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great-great grandsons; and three nephews, Ted McIlvain, Salem, OR, Neil McIlvain and Wilbur McIlvain, both of Dayton, OH.

Nora Avis Martin
Funeral services for Mrs.Nora Avis Martin, 83, of Colora, MD, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, from the Algood chapel of Hooper & Huddleston Funeral with Bro. Malcolm Hill officiating. Burial was in the Fellowship cemetery in Overton County with Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Martin died Monday, May 28, 2001, at her home in Colora, MD. She was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, a Cecil County (Maryland) public school teacher and worked many years teaching first grade at Conowingo Elementary School before retiring in June of 1978, and was a member of the Colora Church of Christ.

Born December 4, 1917, in the Willow Grove Community of Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Bennie C. and Jimmie Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Martin Sr.; a son, James W. Martin Jr.; two sisters, Pauline Hogan and Rosaline Stover; and a brother, Bennie C. Ledbetter.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Ingerson, Rising Sun, MD; two sisters, Tula Clark, Lakeland, FL, and Melba Sewell, Athens; and two grandsons, James W. Ingerson, Acworth, GA, and Timothy W. Ingerson, Rising Sun.

Elmer K. Lmbert
Funeral services for Mr. Elmer K. Lambert, 76, of Markleville, IN, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2001, from the Eastview Nazarene Church in Anderson, IN, with Rev. Thomas Chapman officiating. Burial will be in the Mechanicsburg cemetery in Mechanicsburg, IN, with Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Lambert died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Community Hospital East. He was retired from the Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 30 years of service, a member of the Eastview Church of the Nazarene, the U.A.W. 663, and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Born April 15, 1925, in Livingston, he was the son of the late William and Rosa (Walker) Lambert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters; three brothers; and his mother-in-law, Pearle Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Gene (Clark) Lambert, Markleville, IN; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Karl Downey and Christy and Scott Johnson, all of Pendleton, IN, Janice and Clyde Walker, Livingston, and Delene and L.D. LaFever, Baxter; three sons, Allan Lambert, Anderson, Clifton Lambert, Pelham, AL, and Tim Lambert, New Orleans, LA; a sister and brother-in-law, Lilly Mae and Roscoe Murphy, Monterey; a brother, Oscar Lambert, Anderson, IN; a special sister-in-law, June Clark, Markleville, IN; twelve grandchildren, Lisa Barnes, Greg Lambert, Jamie LaFever, Margie LaFever, Melissa LaFever, Shane Downey, Brandon Downey, Adrian Lambert, Andrea Downey, Kody Downey, Kaitlyn Whitson, and Emily Downey; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Joy C. Brown
Funeral services for Mrs. Joy C. Brown, 64, of Smyrna, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 28, 2001, from the chapel of Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Burial was in the Crest Lawn Memorial cemetery with Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Brown died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville. She was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ and was retired, having worked a number of years at Oshkosh B'Gosh and Acme Boot Company.

Born February 16, 1937, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Artis Clabe and Nettie B. (Haney) Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Lex Brown, Smyrna; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sherry Brown, Seattle WA; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Tim Raymond, Seattle, WA; a brother, Bobby C. Johnson, Cookeville; a sister, Anna Bell Stafford, Bloomington Springs; an aunt, Myrtle Dyer, Bloomington Springs; four grandchildren, Julia Brown, Jacob Brown, Tyler Metzger, and Dan Metzger; nine grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Steve Hensley, Justin O'Conner, Jonathan Jones, Thomas Jones, Roy Johnson, and Teddy Johnson.

Domer Bowman
Funeral services for Mr. Domer Bowman, 65, of Monterey, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Oliver England and Rev. David Harris officiating. Burial was in Mayland cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bowman died Saturday, Nov. 2 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a heavy equipment operator, a landscaper, and a member of Muddy Pond Independent Baptist Church.

Born June 15, 1937, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Lonnie and Ruth (Pippin) Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Leta Boles, Janie Tabor, Treva Wilson, and Lena Kendrick; and a brother, A.J. Stringer.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Glenda and Roger Bilbrey and Wanda and David Wilson, all of Cookeville, Janice Brymer and Tommy Phillips, Gainesville, FL, and Belinda Bilbrey, Monterey; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary Bowman, Cookeville, Delmer and Kellie Bowman, Baxter, and Terry and Terri Jo Bowman, Crossville; four sisters, Earlene Lewthwaite and Kathleen Wyatt, Crossville, Maureen Pierce, Monterey, and Beulah Long, Sweetwater; four brothers, Tom Bowman and Denvil Bowman, Crossville, Hollis Bowman, Muddy Pond, and Paul Bowman, Dayton, OH; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Bowman, Rachel Young and her husband Jason, Ashley Bowman, Christopher Bowman, Josh Sparks, Jonathan Sparks, Jeremy Bilbrey, Hannah Hall, Trevor Hall, and Halley Hall; and a great grandchild, Hunter Young.

Lois Dean Coffman
Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Dean Coffman, 65, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Roberts and Rev. John Copeland officiating. Burial was in Fisk cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Coffman died Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a housewife and a member of Rickman Freewill Baptist Church.

Born April 8, 1937, in Smith County, she was the daughter of the late Rayford and Floye (Savage) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Douglas Coffman; and a sister, Olene Sevier.

Survivors include three sons, Randy Coffman, Jeff Coffman, and Gary Coffman, all of Livingston; two daughters, Brenda Keisling and Robin Presley, both of Livingston; three brothers, Richard Brown, Hartsville, Waymon Brown, Lebanon, and Robert Brown, Carthage; three sisters, Pauline Green, Joy Coffman, and Garnetta Hite, all of Carthage; and 14 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Glen Dickerson, Chris Keisling, Johnny Reece, Jeremy Reece, Greg Walker, and Paul Sidwell.
