Lucille (fleming) Talley
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille (Fleming) Talley, 90, of Norcross, GA, formerly of Allons, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Talley died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Joan Clancy Hospital in Duluth, GA. She was a housewife and a member of Allons Church of Christ.

Born February 3, 1911, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Loyd C. "Doy" and Virgia (Swift) Fleming. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaskell Talley; a brother, Albert Fleming; and two sisters, Pauline Turney and Anna Cordle.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Kathryn Wilson, Norcross, and Virginia Long, Rockford, MI; a sister, Evelyn Fleming, Livingston; a sister-in-law, Clara Fleming, Allons; six grandchildren, Karen Bienick, Jenson, MI, Kim Long and John Long, both of Rockford, Lisa Moore, Larwerenceville, GA, and Carol Wilson and Susan Curtis, both of Allons; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Rick Long, Kevin Fleming, Larry Fleming, Chris Wilson, Jimmy Curtis, and Russell Gray.

Donnon "Chip" Smith
Funeral services for Mr. Donnon "Chip" Smith, 72, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. David Beaty officiating. Burial was in the Green Hill cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Smith died Friday, August 31, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Hospital. He was a Chrysler auto worker and affiliated with the Christ Church Presbyterian.

Born July 20, 1929, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Brady and Hassie (Allred) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Smith; and a sister, Reva Jean Turner.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Jean Walker, Bellefonte, PA; a sister, Justine Clark, New Castle, OH; and two grandchildren, David Lee Page and Donna Lynn Page. Pallbearers were Thomas Clark, David Clark, Joe Hawkins, Bobby Harrell, Jerry Garrett, and Lowell Ledbetter.

William Reed Allred
Funeral services for Mr. William Reed Allred, 73, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2001, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Allred died Tuesday, August 28, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a plumber and electrician and a member of the Church of Christ.

Born July 31, 1928, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Audie (Sells) Allred. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Sperling, Walter Frank Allred, and Arnold Thomas 'Buckshot' Allred; a sister, Charlene Pitts; and grandparents, Oscar Rayborn, Katherine Allred, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sells.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Carol Allred, Livingston; five sons, Michael Allred, Ronnie Allred, and Ricky Allred, all of Livingston, Greg Phillips, Crossville, and Shane Crabtree, Celina; eight daughters, Carolyn Faye Yoder, New Castle, IN, Rita Phillips, Monterey, Lisa Gore, Jennifer Flowers, Christine Crabtree, and Coty Crabtree, all of Livingston, Gina Cassadine, Murfreesboro, and Candi Stover, and Sandra Ashburn, both of Hilham; three brothers, Creed Allred, Miamisburg, OH, Kenneth Boyd, Idaho, OH, and Wayne Allred, Livingston; three sisters, Mable Pennington, Kettering, OH, Twila Jean Forinash, Lebanon, OH, and Sue Norris, Livingston; 20 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jonathan Gore, Josh Gore, Terry Flowers, Jerry Stover, Dexter Phillips, and Allan Ford.

Gladys (Ledbetter) Pryor
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys (Ledbetter) Pryor, 89, of Algood, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2001, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Nolen Cantrell and Bro. Fabron Nicholson officiating. Burial was in the Goodhope cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Pryor died Tuesday, August 28, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker.

Born January 13, 1912, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Adley and Nora (McDonald) Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, Lester Staggs; second husband, Edgar Pryor; a son, Edgar Pryor Jr.; two sisters, Orpha Gunnels and Bonnie Vadorsick; and four brothers, Harry Ledbetter, Ray Ledbetter, H.C. Ledbetter, and A.T. Ledbetter.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin C. and Janie Pryor, Baxter, and Larry James and Tammie Pryor, LaFayette; six daughters and three sons-in-law, Georgia Irene and Bud Gibson, Cookeville, Lorene Carmack and Jewel Dean Carr, both of Algood, Opal Marie and Melvin Holsapple, Tulsa, OK, Earlene and Willie Wilson, Cookeville, and Evelyn Garrett, Monterey; a daughter-in-law, Jessie Pryor, Rickman; a sister, Hilda McDonald, Monroe; two brothers, Howard Ledbetter and Ted Ledbetter, both of Livingston; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Melvin Holsapple, Bud Gibson, Andrew Williams, Joey Hoover, David Sparks, Michael Pryor, Darrel Ledbetter, and Von Ibbotson.

Albert J. Jared
Funeral services for Mr. Albert J. Jared, 83, of Cookeville, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 5, 2001, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Womack and Bobby Sebastian officiating. Burial will be in the Browns Mill cemetery with Dyer Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Jared died Sunday, September 2, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a farmer and member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church.

Born May 4, 1918, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary Belle (McBroom) Jared. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Jared; a granddaughter, Michelle Wassom; four sisters, Bertha Wade, Maenell Jared, Bonnie Brown, and Fern Vaughn; and two brothers, Kenneth Jared and Bill Jared.

Survivors include his wife, Odell (Haney) Jared, Cookeville; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Michael Jared and Bob and Nancy Jared, all of Cookeville, Eddie and Linda Jared, Sparta, and Wayne and Sandra Jared, Smithville; two daugthers and sons-in-law, Ann and Roy Randolph, Livingston, and Nancy and Randall Whiteaker, Algood; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Betty Jared, Cookeville; three sisters, Estelle Allen, Nashville, Bessie Patton, Cookeville, and Elizabeth Owen, Carthage; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Amon Condra
Funeral services for Mr. Amon Condra, 99, of Moss, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2001, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina with Minister Bill Threet officiating. Burial was in the Pitcock cemetery in Moss with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Condra died Tuesday, August 28, 2001, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. He was a farmer and a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ.

Born October 13, 1901, in Moss, he was the son of the late William Taylor and Carrie (Johnson) Condra.

Survivors include four nephews, Eldon Condra, Moss, David Bilbrey, Celina, Donald Bilbrey, Lafayette, and James Bilbrey, Rickman; and six nieces, Dorothy Sissom, Cookeville, Lorene Long and Doris Jackson, both of Red Boiling Springs, Lexie Shuppard, Tipton, IN, Dorene Bilbrey, Celina, and Evelyn Brown, Moss.

Happy E. Hammock
Graveside services for Mrs. Happy E. Hammock, 89, of Gainesboro, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Honey Springs cemetery with Bro. Arnold Murphy officiating. Rickman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Hammock died Monday, June 17 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born June 1, 1913, in Monterey, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Nancy Elizabeth (Roberson) Abston.

Survivors include five sons, Junior Hammock, Jimmy Hammock, Jessie Hammock, and Jackie Hammock, all of Anderson, IN, and Johnny Hammock, Gainesboro; five daughters, Deloris Booth, Peggy Sheer, and Judy Stanley, all of Anderson, Thelma Miller, Oneida, and Wanda Phillips, Orange, TX; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Louise Abston, Nashville; a sister-in-law, Roselle Abston, Crawford; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandsons served as pallbearers.

Monica Barbara (Austin) Helms
Funeral services for Mrs. Monica Barbara (Austin) Helms, 67, of Mt. Juliet, were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2002, at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet with Bro. Buddy Neal, Bro. Mark Loftis, and Dr. Scott West officiating. Burial was in Hermitage Memorial Gardens with Bond Memorial Chapel in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Helms died at her home after an extended illness. She was a registered nurse who spent her professional career in patient care, education, and administration.

Born in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mae Austin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Austin Breeding; and an infant sister, Florence Mae Austin.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn A. Helms, Mt. Juliet; two daughters and a son-in-law, Monica Helms and Dr. Scott West and Marla Helms Fleming, all of Nashville; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Pat Austin, Livingston; a brother-in-law, Dr. Bill Breeding, Knoxville; three grandchildren, Katherine Lee West, Madison Helms West, and Lacey Shannon Fleming, all of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. Her family members served as pallbearers.

Rev. James Edward Lass
Funeral services for Rev. James Edward Lass, 64, of Toccoa, GA, and formerly of Livingston, were conducted Monday, June 10, 2002, at Toccoa First Alliance Church with Rev George W. Tubbs, Rev. Tom Lass, and Dr. John McNeal officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens with Whitlock Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Lass died Thursday, June 6. He served in the U.S. Army and was a missionary and a painter. He was a member and elder at Homer Christian Missionary Alliance Church, a member of the menŐs Sunday School class, and a graduate of Michigan State University and Grand Rapids Baptist Bible College. He also taught junior high school, ChildrenŐs Ministries, and Bible Centered Ministries International.

Born April 14, 1938, in Grand Rapids, MI, he was the son of the late Dr. Edward and Christine Margaret (Erickson) Lass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Madeline Lass, and a sister, Susie McComas.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Florence Lass; his mother-in-law, Wanda Florence, Toccoa; a son, James E. Lass II, Plainwell, MI; four daughters, Mary Linda Lass and Heidi Gardenhire, both of Taccoa, Tasha Lass, missionary in Romania, and Jennifer Coonrod, Sparta; a sister, Mary Jane Fliss, Cookeville; three brothers, Tom Lass, Chattanooga, Howard Cooper, Anderson, SC, and Willie Lass, Monroe, MI; and four grandchildren.

Bobby Jack Nevins
Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Jack Nevins, 59, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Nevins died Saturday, June 22 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a retired factory worker of FFM Inc., and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Livingston.

Born November 4, 1949, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Matt Ester and Grace (Brown) Nevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Nevins.

Survivors include his wife, Edras Louise Nevins, Willow Grove Community; three brothers, Charles Nevins, Anderson, IN, Carl Nevins, Livingston, and Bill Nevins, Pendleton, IN; five sisters, Marie Looper, Anderson, IN, Mary Lou Denson and Betty Masters, both of Livingston, Reba Dishman, Nashville, and Linda Jolly, Sikeston, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Glenn Ford, Clayton Lee, Steve Masters, Jacob Masters, Mike Nevins, and David Nevins.

Burel Louis Rocho
Funeral services for Mr. Burel Louis Rocho, 82, of Rickman, were conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Dr. Charlie McCaskey officiating. Burial was in Old Union cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Rocho died Tuesday, June 18 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was retired from Ralston Purina Co. and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville. He was a 25-year member of Ralston Purina Club and a member of the school board in Calhoun County, MI.

Born January 1, 1920, in Calhoun County, he was the son of the late Louis Charles and Inez Clara (Hawley) Rocho. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Smith and Rolean Bottoft; a brother, Jack Rocho; and a grandson, Matthew Rocho.

Survivors include his wife, Zenoba Dixie Rocho, Rickman; a son, Larry Lee Rocho, Coupeville, WA; a daughter, Burelean Densmore, Burlington, MI; a brother, Russell Rocho, Ceresco, MI; four sisters, Oleatha Katz and Elva Heemsooth, both of Marshall, MI, and Gladys Smith and JoAnn Cantrell, both of Ceresco; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Horace Poston, Aaron Heideman, Floyd Vaughn, Johnny Fisk, Logan Groth, and Bright Cooper.

Gertrude (Burgess) Carmack Tompson
Graveside services for Mrs. Gertrude (Burgess) Carmack Tompson, 86, of Brandon, FL, and formerly of the Fellowship Community, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Fellowship cemetery with Bro. Kerry Duke officiating. Speck Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Tompson died Wednesday, June 19 at Brandon Regional Hospital. She was a retired factory worker for Tree Sweet Orange Juice, and a member of Okeechobee Church of Christ.

Born January 26, 1916, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Starling and Louella (Dial) Burgess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Edward Carmack and Donald Tompson.

Survivors include two sons, Bryan Carmack, Orange, CA, and Dave Carmack, Seffner, FL; three daughters, Blanche Stacy, Dover, FL, Betty Cuppett, Brandon, and Carol Summers, Webster, TX; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Hassie Pearl Reed
Funeral services for Mrs. Hassie Pearl Reed, 90, of Cookeville, were conducted Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, from the chapel of Rickman Funeral Home with Bro. Frank Davis officiating. Burial was in the Zion Hill cemetery with Rickman Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Reed died Wednesday, August 29, 2001, at the Masters Health Care Center in Algood. She was a homemaker.

Born September 26, 1910, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late George Birdie and Lucy (Brown) Patterson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son; a brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Lorene Reed, Cookeville; and a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Ricky and Liz Reed, McMinnville.

Pallbearers were Jerry Smith, Johnny Smith, Dale Farley, Ricky Reed, Randy Deck, and James Rector.
