Willie Barnes
Mrs. Willie T. Barnes of Canandaigua, N.Y., and formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, March 6, 1999. She was 92.
She was the oldest member of Mendon Presbyterian Church in Mendon, N.Y.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Aquadro; one sister, Vera Settle, Atlanta; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday in Mendon.
Burial will be in Carroll County, Tenn.

Teddy Barnett
Teddy L. 'Ted' Barnett, a former Chattanooga resident, died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in a Knoxville hospital. He was 64.
Mr. Barnett graduated from Oklahoma State University with a mechanical engineering degree. He was employed with Colonial Pipeline Co. of Atlanta and lived in various cities in the U.S., including 24 years as area manager in Chattanooga.
He was a member of East Ridge Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Temple. He was also a member of the O.S.U. Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife, Joan B. Barnett; one daughter, Sherri Loney, Friendswood, Texas; three sons, Jim Barnett, Dothan, Ala., Lee Barnett, Helena, Ala., Teddy L. 'Bo' Barnett II, Tampa, Fla.
Services were scheduled for today at 10 a.m. at Trout Funeral Home in Ponca City, Okla.

Katherine Black
Katherine Crawley Black died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 78.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with minister Gene Arnold officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eunice Bradley
Eunice Lawrence Bradley of Hixson died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 84.
Born in Jefferson County, Ala., she had lived in Chattanooga for the past three years.
She was a Baptist and had worked for 25 years with the Alabama Fair Authority in Birmingham, Ala.
She was widowed by both Arlie Lawrence and Charles M. Bradley.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Pearson, Tallahassee, Fla.; and Carole Thomas, Hixson; one son, Richard Lawrence, North East, Md.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. CST at Valhalla cemetery in Birmingham.
There will be no visitation at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
Faye Chance
Faye Katherine Chance died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 74.
A native of Asheville, N.C., she was a longtime resident of the North Georgia / Chattanooga areas.
She was employed with Rock City Restaurant for several years and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Clifton M. Chance; two sons, Clifton A. Chance, Ringgold, Ga., and Jimmy Hornbuckle, Chatsworth, Ga.; one sister, Dot Vinsant, Dalton.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. James Barker officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood East Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be today after 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ruby Cook
Ruby J. Cook died Monday, March 8, 1999, at her home. She was 88.
She was a native of Anniston, Ala., and had been living in the Chattanooga area for several years.
She attended the Church of God. She was the widow of the Rev. H.W. Cook, and the mother of the late Morris Cook.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Johnson, Chattanooga, and Joyce Ann Collins, East Ridge; two sons, Rex Cook, Birmingham, Ala., and Jim Cook, Hixson; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Trivette officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
The family will receive friends until the time of service at the funeral home.
Edgar Davis
Edgar Paul Davis of Rossville died Monday, March 8, 1999, at his home. He was 69.
He was a native and longtime resident of the North Georgia area and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
He was a lifelong member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America and the National Knife Association.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Berry Davis, and a brother, Gene Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Alta Davis; three daughters, Candy Morris, Rossville, Lori Showalter, Galveston, Texas, and Donna Blackwell, Chattanooga; his mother, Violet Davis, Rossville; one sister, Edwina Dunn, Fort Oglethorpe, and a brother, Neal Davis, Rossville; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National cemetery with chaplain Ray M. Morrison officiating.
There will be no visitation at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Aaron Denton of Indianapolis died Friday, March 5, 1999.

Maudie Finley
Maudie Bell Finley died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 77.
She was a graduate of Howard High School, a member of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church and the widow of John FInley Sr.
Survivors include her brother, Randolph Banks Sr., Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at noon at Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Milo Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.
Nina Frizzell
Nina Frizzell of Red Bank died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 60.
She was a graduate of Chattanooga High School and was an employee of BlueCross BlueShield with 10 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Frizzell and her parents, Lorraine and Robert L. Cox.
Survivors include one son, Stacy Frizzell; one sister, Tina Colby; brother, Skipper Cox; all of Chattanooga; and two nieces.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

George J. Heider died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 90.

Catherine Helton
Catherine 'Yvonne' Helton of Fort Oglethorpe died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 59.
A longtime resident of the Fort Oglethorpe area, she was a member of Calvary Memorial Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe and the Lookout Council for the Blind.
She was preceded in death by her father, James A. Griffin Sr.; her mother, Callie Griffin; and two brothers, James A. and Doug Griffin.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Helton; one daughter, Sabrina Helton Newsom, Fort Oglethorpe; two sons, Eddie Helton, Signal Mountain and Ty Helton, Fort Oglethorpe; four sisters, Betty Grisham, Barbara Blevins and Ruth Guffey, Rossville, and Linda Durham, Ringgold, Ga.; two brothers, Eddie and Homer Griffin, both of Chattanooga; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at W.L. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. B.B. Dawn officiating.
Burial will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
Visitation will be all day today at the funeral home.
LeRoy Hughes
LeRoy Hughes of Smyrna, Ga., and formerly of Chattanooga, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the home of his daughter.
He was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the male choir and held other positions.
Survivors include his wife, Frances M. Hughes; two sons, Leroy Hughes Jr., and James Hughes, one daughter, Sharon Hughes; a sister, Betti Mae McCurdy; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church.

Charles E. 'Fly' Johnson died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 47.
