ROBERT TEREAL `CHICKEN' DAWSON, 84, of Burlison, Tenn., retired State of Tennessee special deputy, died of cancer Wednesday at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home in Covington, Tenn., with burial in the cemetery of Smyrna Baptist Church in Burlison, where he was a member. He was a Mason. Mr. Dawson, the widower of Margie M. Dawson, leaves two sons, Robert Virgil Dawson of Lakeland, Tenn., and Gary M. Dawson of Brighton, Tenn., five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

TERRY ECHOLS, 42, of Memphis, former employee of Rap Inc. in Pontiac, Mich., died of heart failure Tuesday at Methodist Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at M. J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home Whitehaven Chapel with burial in Mt. Joyner cemetery. He leaves his father, Elderee Echols of Pine Bluff, Ark.; three sisters, Delois Turner of Pine Bluff, and Alice Phillips and Dindie Jones, both of Memphis, and three brothers, Eddie Echols, Elderee Echols Jr. and Curtis Echols, all of Memphis.

MARY ALICE EVANS, 76, of Memphis, operator for South Central Bell, died of cancer Tuesday at Graceland Nursing Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Hernando (Miss.) Funeral Home with burial in Baker's Chapel cemetery there. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Nesbit, Miss., a life member of Glenn's Chapel Methodist Church and secretary for Grays Creek Baptist Church for 20 years. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers. She leaves a daughter, Patsy Evans Luttrell of Hernando; a sister, Anna Iola Owens of Memphis, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

CATHERINE NAOMI TROUT FRAZIER, 98, of Memphis, homemaker, died of heart failure Tuesday at Shelby Pines Nursing Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was a member and former Bible school teacher, with burial in Forest Hill cemetery Midtown. Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown has charge. Mrs. Frazier, the widow of Frederick Forrest Frazier, leaves four daughters, Margaret Hume and Louise Floyd, both of Memphis, Doris Zseleczky of Sea Cliff, N.Y., and Evelyn Scoby of Clearwater, Fla.; two sons, Frederick F. Frazier Jr. of Nesbit, Miss., and Robert E. Frazier of Navarre, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Lou Turner of Hernando, Miss., and Elizabeth Spencer of Memphis, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

ODELL `SHACK' GLEAVES, 89, of Millington, retired construction worker for Shelby County Board of Education, died of heart failure Sunday at Methodist Hospital North. Services will be at noon Saturday at Upper Canaan Baptist Church in Millington, where he was a member, with burial in Jones Grove cemetery in Atoka, Tenn. Millington Funeral Home has charge. Mr. Gleaves, the widower of Willie Gleaves, leaves five daughters, Charlesetta Walker and Corrine Bradley, both of Millington, and Catherine Fields, Mary Williams and Annie Lee Hughes, all of Chicago; five sons, Ananias Gleaves, Jonah Gleaves and Roy Walker, all of Millington, Floyd Williamson of Fort Smith, Ark., and Morris Weir of Chicago; a friend who cared for him, J. C. Brown of Millington, and 31 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

SAMUEL `MAMA LYON' HIGHTOWER, 70, of 3432 Old Allen, retired truck driver for American Ready Mix, died of heart failure Monday at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Hollywood cemetery. Family Mortuary has charge. Mr. Hightower, the husband of Ada Frances Hightower, also leaves eight daughters, Mary Hightower Moore, Dorothy Marie Taylor, Barbara Scott, Mamie Wooten, Lisa Sutton, Sandra Hightower, Mary Ann Hightower and Eva Moss, and three sons, Eddie Earl Hightower, John Edward Hightower and Robert Sutton, all of Memphis, 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

ADELAIDE HOLDFORD, 80, of Memphis, died of heart failure Wednesday at Saint Francis Hospital. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forest Hill cemetery Midtown. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. She was a member of Everett Memorial Methodist Church. Mrs. Holdford, the widow of William Holdford, leaves a sister, Louise Craull of Memphis, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

MABLE W. IVORY, 65, of 1688 Glenview, domestic worker and retired cook for Memphis City Schools, died of cancer Sunday at her home. Services will be at noon Saturday at Tree of Life Missionary Baptist Church, where she was president of the mother board, vice president of the Missionary Society, director of the sanctuary choir and a Sunday school teacher, with burial in Elmwood. Victory Funeral Home has charge. Mrs. Ivory, the widow of James Ivory, leaves a daughter, Shirley Pruitt; six sons, Jeffrey Washington, Robert Washington, Milton Washington, James Darden, Micheal Ivory and Bruce Ivory, and a stepdaughter, Shelby Davis, all of Memphis; two sisters, Baby Dee Washington of Champaign, Ill., and Frances Dukes of Moorhead, Miss.; two brothers, Amos Conrod and George Washington, both of Moorhead, 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

BETTY JOBE JOHNSON, 69, of Memphis, homemaker, died of cancer Wednesday at American Transitional Care. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. She was a member of Graham Heights Baptist Church, and a graduate of Louisiana State University and Blue Mountain College. Mrs. Johnson, the widow of Joseph A. Johnson, leaves three sons, Keith Johnson and David Johnson, both of Memphis, and Richard Johnson of Galveston, Texas; two sisters, Helen Anderson and Juanita Blake, and a brother, James A. Jobe, all of Memphis, and two grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Graham Heights Baptist Church.
